Hi all, I was wondering if anyone can confirm what colour of primer was used on British / German WW2 armour, was it grey or red oxide. Thanks in advance

If its individual links then although they can be a complete pain the results when painted and weathered are generaly far superior to rubber types, that said without more info cant be precise about the kits you mention....stick with it and watch out for the carpet monster! Craig.

I have always detected a very pro "across the pond" view of things when I have watched documentaries on WWII, the events and merits of equipment tend to be bigged up and get a very star spangled view. I sometimes ask myself if we were involved at all ( Brits ). It does tend to reflect on the source of the programme. You only have to look at some of the subjects on You Tube top 10 's to see its also very much ones opinion against another, Personaly in my view the B17 was an iconic aircraft of its day and in the role it carreid out but the Lanc was a superior bomber overall.

HMS Vanguard SSBN Bronco 1:350 (Finished)

Hi all, just thought you might find this interesting ,the pics show this V boat in bang up to date fit, as I snapped her passing through the Rhu Narrows earlier this week waving off my boy. Visible is the extra protection along the side of the missile tubes , they have been streamlined as when origionaly fitted the sectional girders could be easily seen. -

Coming along nicely It is a big model but seeing the real thing out of the water is even more impressive.....I was able to get up close and personal with a V boat in the ship lift shed at Faslane , they are huge and you dont get a real idea of their size when they are in the water...manmade icebergs! The missile compartment is most impressive , has a surreal look to it as you look down the length into the distance. I have a real soft spot for these boats. Thanks for inspiring me to resume my build !!!! Cheers Craig. -

Are you going to build her as origionaly built or with the added protection by the missile bays? I have one on the go but am still trying to get the info together to complete as current standard, i think there may also be some detail differences around the countermeasures launchers. I am still trying to fig out best way to replicate the multitude of greys that you see due to the tiles. Looking forward to following your build. -
I think its due to thickness of the leading edge of the wing , it gives the impression of wrapround indeed I thought the same at first until I looked closer defo demarcation line. Craig.

Brilliant job , hope mine turns out half as well. -
I am not saying its right or saying wrong but the rise of internet shopping has brought about at least in part the demise of the local model shop as it has the High St in general, its a bit ironic that as a result of our own addiction to the internet shopping experience we have contributed to the loss of one of the experiences most of us looked forward to ,, the rumage around the shelves. Speak about shooting yourself in the foot. I dont think however it would have been practical to expect the majority of local model shops to carry all the extras as its just not practcal, the cottage industries and the bigger specialists producers quite simly would not be able to supply the volume. As a retailer myself its clear that what the customer expects and what is possible ( due to sheer logistical/cost considerations) is sometimes not achievable in a store by store situation. For eg as a Jeweller I am often told that I should keep all sizes of rings.........mmmmmm......sounds simple but out of a range of 300+ rings that would require me to hold a conservative 3000 individual pieces of stock 90% of which would be dead stock not turning over....result ...bankrupt. The best we can do and expect any retailer to do is firstly give excellent customer service backed with knowledge and secondly have a cando attitude with the ability to source stock quickly when required for orders. Finally at the end of the day no point bemoaning the loss of the local stores if we continue not to support them with our business. I for one will be happy for WH Smiths to stock kits as its another option for me and a visible prompt for youngsters to get started. Just saying

I have used the emery paper method for modern decks but WWII are a bit more complicated as they are wooden plank sections separated by steel beams with tie downs. Craig.
