Are you sure it wasn't your toaster? :wicked:

If it ain't carbon coated it ain't toast. Other preferences are available, of course.

Anyways, lunch was last night's leftover pizza with more coffee. Also using a bit of UFO to speed up the tempo.

Moving on steadily, and tidying up the undercarriage parts - this is a nice little kit indeed. I have noticed test fitting is essential to make sure the fine tolerances don't trip up the build.

    Session time =  40 minutes, total time = 2 hour 35 minutes

  2. Session started nicely with a coffee and some Frank Cooper's on toast. Then - power cut! Stopped the session as the power has gone. 🙃. A bit of investigation tells us the iron has gone off on one - replacement required as the napkins won't be ironed for dinner tomorrow!

Back to more interesting matters - starting to get the innards coloured so that we can button her up. Off to town now to get an iron....

    Session time =  42 minutes, total time = 1 hour 55 minutes

  3. First session completed. Taking an early start to get around the arrival of the offspring over the next couple of days - it will be the Great Escape option for this one. Unfortunately the camera time is a day out - it'll be sorted for the next session. Assembled the fuselage halves, which is not as suggested in the instructions, but makes more sense to me this way. Some other bits and pieces tidied up, a little bit of filler applied. All in all it looks like a nice little kit.

    Session time = 1 hour 13 minutes, total time = 1 hour 13 minutes

It must be a genetic defect coming from my mother's side of the family, but I cannot throw anything into the bin, when it comes to plastic models... Very sad and worrisome condition.

But I am improving: only a couple of days ago I threw my first ever kit part in the rubbish. The pilot figure of my FW 190 whom I had half beheaded by mistake. And there I hovered over the dark hole of the bin for several minutes, wondering if in the near future my life would not hinge around this decapitated bit of plastic. I pried my fingers open and down it fell. A terrible sense of loss ensued.

I nonetheless agree that many a time my modelling bacon (I am a vegetarian...) was saved by what I found after a thorough search in the spare parts' box.

So unless stood upon by an elephant, no bit of plastic will go to the great landfill in the sky.

Well said! I have all sorts of bits of plastic that I have collected over the past 45 years or so - I even keep all the empty sprues, just in case. My children think I am bonkers....

  5. My last chance this year to avoid the scorn of @JOCKNEY by building something that has the dirty rigging on it. At least there are no clear parts.

Airfix's version is from 2016, kit no. A01086, looks nicely moulded, and comes with decent decals. Airfix provide a detailed rigging diagram, so no excuses, other that running out of time, there. Hopefully will be able to fit some late night/early morning sessions in to do it justice.
