A little bit of progress made - starting to feel a little overwhelmed by the amount still to do though.
Various bits filled on wings, fuselage spine beefed up, and first attempt at getting a better profile for the upper surface on one of the floats.

Lovely shots - just added Temora onto my "to do" list, it looks like a lot of fun.
I like some of the b&w stuff - just wonder what it would look like with a bit more grain, so it was less crisp?

A few shots from Ostrava this year. Weather was poor for the most part, and the programme was reduced from previous years, but nice to see the Viggen up close and personal.

I have had a play with the foil, but I think the thin plastic will be better. I have found that if the plastic is warmed on a radiator it takes the embosser better.
Also, thinning the card down is a good idea - there needs to be a small step as this area is slightly raised on the real thing. I think I will fill in the grooves on the back with milliput so I can be sure they won't deform when polished.
We shall see!

I have one of these part way through the build, (its on the shelf of doom!)
It was donated by a friend who stopped modelling in 1/72. He had started it about 30 years ago, and I picked it up from there a couple of years ago.
All in all I like the kit a lot, not quite Hasegawa finesse, but charming all the same.

Great progress and starting to shape up very nicely.

A little bit of progress. Started to laminate the sides of the floats, to build up the profile before slapping on some milliput.
Moved the cockpit back on one side and tidied up the fuselage sides prior to getting a bit of detail in.Played with embossing some plastic card, (courtesy Muller fruit corner!), to recreate the oil coolers - think its worth trying with a bit of foil as well...and a float sat in the jig.cheers

Bashed on last night - plenty of fun to be had with this so no point hanging around..
I started by using Cheshiretaurus' idea of using a jig to correctly marry up the floats & fuselage/wings, as the legs in the kit are all over the place - here is the start of it;
Whilst trying to fettle the jig I started on the floats. In the spirit of the GB I will be using tube glue, enamels, etc where possible.Blocking off the locating holes with bits off the sprue;Adding some weights to the floats as per Cheshiretaurus' suggestion;The floats look a little undernourished in places, and the step is in the wrong place, so plenty of glue and heavily clamped ready for tomorrow.The fuselage needs some correcting - cockpit in wrong place, cross section too fat underneath, oil cooler corrugations in wrong place, too chunky on the underside of the nose, etc - and so the trusty semi-blunt Stanley blade/scraper got to work; -

Good luck with this one - I had one of these started about 40 years ago.
Never did get it finished as my mum gave away all of my kits when I went to college, aged 18!

Oh yes - a real beauty, possibly only bettered by the Macchi MC.72?
Hopefully I can do it justice, as a small tribute to the efforts of the RAF High Speed Flight and the Supermarine team who were involved.

Completed the Airfix kit a few months ago, the main inaccuracys were exhaust ports and the cockpit needs moving rearwards, I ditched the decals too. If I was to make another I'd put some weight in the front of the floats this time.

I really like your idea of a jig to get everything lined up. Makes me think of getting the floats and legs built/aligned and then plonking the fuselage/wings on top.
Had another look at the parts versus the plan, scratched my head, and then checked your RFI - it can be done!

My first group build, so looking for any constructive input that's available please!
This kit was donated by a buddy who now only builds in 1/48th - so no box shots.
Transparency and part of the prop are missing - no big deal I think. Not sure what I am going to do with the decal part of the build yet.I will be using the plans in here as a reference,Along with a stack of photos taken at the excellent Solent Sky museum, so hopefully the end result looks a bit like this,

My brother has a D5100 and he gets some fantastic results with it. The flip screen is great for museum and static work. He has a battery grip fitted which seems to balance the camera a bit better, and means he gets better battery life, at the cost of extra weight of course. He uses it in RAW mainly and processes using Lightroom.

Uuhh! I am gobsmacked. I remember when the Revell 1/48 B-17G came out and Shep Paine did a diorama piece around the kit - this reminds me of how I felt then as a kid - simply inspiring.

Typical! Tuesday was pretty good, but at least the rain kept off for Wednesday.
Culdrose is one of my favourite airshows but I`ve not been able to get there for a few years so thanks for the wonderful pics,......was the Sea Vixen there by any chance!!!

I attended with a couple of buddies on Thursday and Friday; the weather was fantastic, and we had an excellent, relaxing couple of days. The company and change of scenery was as important as the arrivals and validations I suppose.
The FRIAT stand looked very sparsely populated on both days, and one of the guys was at West park & view on Wednesday and said there were no more than 50 people in it.
I live about 65 miles away and so it is an easy decision to go or not dependent on the weather etc. If I lived 400 miles away? To be honest there was nothing there that important for me to see.
I had access to a complimentary ticket for Saturday if I had needed it but already had plenty of shots, and the weather forecast was mediocre so I didn't bother. (The queuing puts me off as well!).
It will never be the same as it once was, but no organiser in the world can (realistically/economically) get all the aircraft into one place for one show that we want to see.
I understood that both days were sell outs (?) - and if an organiser can sell all the tickets, and fill all of the corporate and special enclosures, the voice of the aviation enthusiast kind of gets lost a little I think.

The vast majority of my shots went in the bin - the few that survived seem to be when the sun made a rare appearance.
