  1. Thanks for your comments - they do have some great stuff there - the only proviso being that you don't point the camera where you are told not too. The wreck is a Blenheim - the gun pack can be seen just below the nose. They also had a Ju87 and Hs126 at Dekelia but no photos allowed of these two.

The shots were taken at, (in order), Araxos, Kalamata, Larissa x 3, Nea Anchialos x 3, Tanagra x 3, Elefsis x 3, Dekelia x 4, & last three at Tanagra.

    cheers

  2. Slow and steady, some more progress on this one. One float not looking too bad, and the other one trying to catch up,

The wings are pretty much the basic shape I want, and the ailerons are getting better. The tailplanes are in the early stages of fettling,

One engine cover started, one still a basic glued-up sprue lump, and the original Airfix part for comparison,

Fuselage moving on and some interior detailing started. Wing stubs extended to get to the correct span. I won't be able to alter some of the external shapes until the halves are together,

..and hopefully these will form the basis of the spinner at some stage once they are glued up

  3. Got a bit bogged down with the build and so gave everything a coating of Halford's finest to see what it all looked like.

Felt much better, and can now proceed to do some minor filling with superglue & sand it all off again in the name of progress!

Second float can now be built up, now I know the shape can be improved - just need to get it to look the same as the other one.

  4. I have no idea yet what gold colour to use. It should look like gold paint, not like gold metal, and not have visible metallic grains. May be an interesting problem.

    Hi Jorgen,

I have just noticed this thread - it really looks like you are doing justice to this beautiful vehicle.

Have you considered Rub-n-Buff for the finish? It could be applied over a silver or gold paint undercoat and though it takes some practice to get a nice finish it can look really stunning when applied with care.

    cheers

  5. Some progress made - with a couple of blips added to the mix.

Fuselages refined a bit - sanded through the plastic on one side trying to get the correct belly profile, but nothing a spot of superglue won't fix. Also amended the cockpit position as it looked too far back when compared with photos.

Float number one starting to take shape - beefed up and looking much better from the front - original shows the difference.

Ailerons separated on wings and tips being built up with Bondic as they are a bit short on span.

The engine covers in the kit are pants - but Airfix very thoughtfully provided some nice chunky bits of sprue which might be able to be cut up...

glued together with lashings of tube cement, and clamped prior to re-shaping..
