Boo!
-
hi,
we didn't get to Agrinio on the Thursday as we headed up towards Lamia and it was a little too far for us to travel. (We did Kalamata, Andravida & Araxos on the Thursday).
All in all it was very interesting though, even getting stuck in Athens during the marathon on the Sunday,
cheers

Thanks for your comments - they do have some great stuff there - the only proviso being that you don't point the camera where you are told not too. The wreck is a Blenheim - the gun pack can be seen just below the nose. They also had a Ju87 and Hs126 at Dekelia but no photos allowed of these two.
The shots were taken at, (in order), Araxos, Kalamata, Larissa x 3, Nea Anchialos x 3, Tanagra x 3, Elefsis x 3, Dekelia x 4, & last three at Tanagra.

hi SD,
I was using a 500mm - tricky to pan with, but nice when it works out,

hi Tony,
The Herc certainly worked hard to get through and then drop down towards the lake - it looked like lots of fun from where I was stood. Not sure I would fancy it inside with a group of poorly Paras though...

cheers

Magic stuff!

hi colin,
I wish I had more to share but this was only my third time in Mach Loop and the other two times were no-shows,

Great progress and really looking the part. Interesting scheme as well - much anticipation here in seeing some paint on this one

Slow and steady, some more progress on this one. One float not looking too bad, and the other one trying to catch up,
The wings are pretty much the basic shape I want, and the ailerons are getting better. The tailplanes are in the early stages of fettling,
One engine cover started, one still a basic glued-up sprue lump, and the original Airfix part for comparison,
Fuselage moving on and some interior detailing started. Wing stubs extended to get to the correct span. I won't be able to alter some of the external shapes until the halves are together,
..and hopefully these will form the basis of the spinner at some stage once they are glued up

You can't beat the sight of an old Airfix/Frog/Matchbox offering being bought up to date & whipped into shape - following with interest..
-
Great stuff - I reckon the more effort you put into this the more likely Airfix will bring one out - keep it going!

Got a bit bogged down with the build and so gave everything a coating of Halford's finest to see what it all looked like.
Felt much better, and can now proceed to do some minor filling with superglue & sand it all off again in the name of progress!
Second float can now be built up, now I know the shape can be improved - just need to get it to look the same as the other one.

I can't remember seeing more realistic exhausts - great stuff..

I have no idea yet what gold colour to use. It should look like gold paint, not like gold metal, and not have visible metallic grains. May be an interesting problem.
Hi Jorgen,
I have just noticed this thread - it really looks like you are doing justice to this beautiful vehicle.
Have you considered Rub-n-Buff for the finish? It could be applied over a silver or gold paint undercoat and though it takes some practice to get a nice finish it can look really stunning when applied with care.

I'm in if that's ok - not sure what with yet though - plenty of time for rummage through the stash..
-
Fantastic stuff - love seeing this kind of modelling in action.
Good luck in bringing it all together.

Some progress made - with a couple of blips added to the mix.
Fuselages refined a bit - sanded through the plastic on one side trying to get the correct belly profile, but nothing a spot of superglue won't fix. Also amended the cockpit position as it looked too far back when compared with photos.
Float number one starting to take shape - beefed up and looking much better from the front - original shows the difference.Ailerons separated on wings and tips being built up with Bondic as they are a bit short on span.

hi Tony,
The A-7's are still operational - when we were at Araxos one was doing go-arounds - the sight and sound was fantastic.
Not sure what the provenance of the Henschel is - it was covered up and we only found out it was there when chatting to one of the local chaps.
