hi John, Your moody Blackburn shot is my fave - just lovely. I have to admit I had given up by then, my extremities were getting a bit cold! cheers

Thanks for the very kind comments - I only stand there pressing a button, really it's the display pilots who make the displays look so good, as they always have done at Old Warden. hi Simon - I didn't know about the bird strike until you mentioned it - noticed the different coloured parts during processing and assumed it was part of ongoing maintenance, and not sure what the story behind the door is either. hi Alpha & John, a lovely day as always - wanted to see the Comet and wasn't disappointed! It was great to see so many different types there as well as the stalwarts, and I wished they had put the Edwardians up a little earlier, but we can't have everything we want can we? (.. and it's a good reason for going back to try and catch them in some nice lighting conditions ). cheers

hi, Spent a day at Old Warden to see their season finale, with the theme of Race Day - plenty on display and some lovely flying in the autumnal conditions. Here are a few pics captured on the day, cheers

Nicely done! - looks like you had a great time, especially when the weather improved. Love Ramex Delta and the Frecce, and always nice to see a Magister whizzing about.. cheers -
hi Rad, I'm in Stourbridge - not too far away, about an hour or so. Loton Park's a lovely place, with a relaxed atmosphere - my brother and I get to one climb a year usually and this year it was Loton. We went for the Austin-Healeys - only one there this year though.. cheers

Lovin' them gliders..

Great stuff - love the Fauvel!

Again, thanks for the kind comments chaps - hopefully some of the airshow organisers in the UK will research what worked so well at this show and apply it here for everyone's benefit, cheers

hi Alex, Looks like the weather was kind to you and you had a great time - lovely set of shots! cheers..

Love the Czech flavour to this - did they have any gliders there? Also notice what looks like a MiG 21 in the background - they used to have some old airframes here and a MIG23 I think? cheers

NATO Day 2014: Looks Like a Heck of a Show in the Works
Jinxman replied to upnorth's topic in Real Aviation
I like your thinking - have taken the plunge and plumped for Friday and Saturday - last year I stayed outside and got some nice stuff from the fields..weather was a bit gloomy from memory though. Will be nice if we can get a sight of the Turks and love the Mi-171Sh as well. cheers A couple from last year.. -
I'm a sucker for the Canberra and that's a beauty - nice one..

hi Jeffrey, My brother has traded all of his DSLR gear in favour of the Nikon 1 V2 system. From his point of view he now has a lightweight, portable system, and he uses the Nikon 300mm which with the 2.7 crop factor means he is using an equivalent 810mm lens versus a full frame sensor. The autofocus system is great, and I think it can shoot up to 60 fps in burst mode. He has just used the system at Payerne and the results were fantastic, (as much as it pains me to admit it!). It really has me thinking about lugging the heavy DSLR stuff about. I've asked him to send me a couple of shots which I'll add when he sends them, cheers..

Thanks for your comments guys - the organisers are to be congratulated - this was a really great show, not just the programme but also access, close displays and taxiways, no speakers in the way, plenty of WCs, many beer tents and so on... hi Rad - the air quality was excellent - very little haze there which helped a lot, even though it was very hot on the Saturday hi Giorgio, the weather is tricky - it said mostly cloud for us and Saturday was very warm with almost no cloud in the afternoon at all. Sunday was cloudy all day, and yet the lake was bathed in sunshine all day. Next weekend looks variable as well - if you are going and want some info based on what we found please PM me, cheers..

Here are a few shots from Payerne first weekend I would like to share - weather was variable, but the rain stayed away thankfully. I hope you enjoy them and thanks for looking,
