Another Colourful 1:48 Sea Vixen
R A Ferguson replied to Bertie McBoatface's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Hello Just too say a excellent scheme, after the trials and tribulations I had when building my own Sea Vixen I didn't fancy making another one. Your Sea Vixen makes me think again. Thanks for sharing RAF -

Hello All to answer a few questions. It is all fixed together as I am lucky in having a big attic with plenty of store space. It was relatively east to build appart from the shere size of the kit. Made, painted and fixed the decals on the fuselage and wings separately and then joined them together. I did wish sometime I had an extra pair of hands [or two]. A few sweary words at this stage. Decals used came with the kit and were not too bad to fix, and finally used a couple of tins of white and used a 1/4 inch sable brush. Hope thas helps and thanks for the comments RAF

Hello kev1n Yes I believe it is a new 1/72 Sabre release from from Airfix, and thanks to all for the comments RAF -
By far the biggest model in my collection Monogram 1/72 B-36H Peacemaker. Built in 2002 using a lot of Humbrols M11 silver and Gloss 22 White. Monogram 1/72 Convair B-36H Peacemaker

Airfix F-86E Sabre F4
R A Ferguson replied to R A Ferguson's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Thanks to all for your comments, much appreciated. Julien, I am not an expert on Sabres and tend to built most of my models straghts from the box, other than changing the aircrafts colour scheme. But it is useful to get any information that will make the subject matter better. Lightningboy2000, I havn't tried any "new" ideas when modelling and tend to stick with my "old" and trusted methods. Will look forward to seeing you finished model in due course. dahut, what can I say? those funny markings are what used to be the finest air force in the world, but the I am biased, and on a Canadian built F-86, too. Kind regards to all RAF -
Italeri 1/72 Douglas B-66B Destroyer
R A Ferguson replied to R A Ferguson's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Hello Sean Built relatively easily but being an old kit the one I had a little flash. This was easily removed. The problem I had was getting decent natural finish pictures, so there is a lot of quesswork in the finished model. Hope this helps RAF -
Airfix F-86E Sabre F4
R A Ferguson replied to R A Ferguson's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
I can confirm all my models are hand painted and I don't use an airbrush at all, I don't even have one. Humbrol 11 Silver used for a natural metal finish, very well stirred and stirred again using a very soft and wide sable brush. -

What can I say, I take my hat off to you. Alltough I have been modelling for more years than I care to remember, I would have never have tackled this one. Well done young man, and I would agree with your last comment, modelling is all about doing your own thing and enjoying it. RAF ps can I get my model back now?

Thanks to all or your comments, much appreciated. I have another still to build but after the trials and tribulations on this one I think I will wait a bit. An RAF one that sounds a good idea. RAF

Airfix 1/48 scale DH Sea Vixen FAW2 XN650-301-VL Not the best kit I have ever made but looks reasonably right when finished. Some difficulty experienced when cutting small parts from the sprue. The vast amount of decals take a lot of time and some of the smaller ones get “lost” in the process. The aircraft modelled from “Simon’s Sircus” seen at HMS Fulmar in 1968. All in all a good addition to my collection.

Hope my efforts turn out as good, excellent build from a "difficult" kit Alan F
