  1. That was Flory Models Grime wash. I usually use Dark Dirt but thought I would try Grime this time. It doesn't actually look green in real life. I'll have to remove it in Photoshop later
  2. Kit manufacture: Tamiya Scale: 1/48 Type: F-16C Arkansas ANG "Flying Razorbacks" Extras used: None Paints and colours used: Tamiya Royal Light Grey XF-80 and Dark Sea Grey XF-54 for the Main colours, XF-20 Med. Grey for the nosecone and XF-7 Flat Red for the tail Other info: Finished with Xtracrylics Flat and Flory Grime Well after getting back into the hobby about 5 years ago (45 now) since a teenager I also wanted to build one of the famous Tamiya F-16s. So about 4 years ago SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed) kindly bought me this kit for my birthday. However, wanting to do it justice I was a bit afraid to just get stuck in and muck it up. So it has been an ongoing project, only having the paint completed in the last month or so. I even forced myself to paint the pilot Urgh! A lovely detailed kit, but I wish they would make it easier to fit all the undercarriage after, rather than having to mask it up (I hate masking!).
  3. Took a short drive down the M40 to see if I could get some good pics. Was good fun seeing the Vulcan fire up and taxi up and down the runway. Here is a selection of my favourite photos, but the full album can be found at https://www.flickr.com/photos/jackaldesigned/sets/72157645236208013/ Provost 7 by jackaldesigned, on Flickr DSC_3954 by jackaldesigned, on Flickr DSC_3958 by jackaldesigned, on Flickr DSC_3966 by jackaldesigned, on Flickr DSC_3981_HDR by jackaldesigned, on Flickr
  4. Thanks for all your comments guys, it means a lot.
  5. Here's a quick shot to show how big it is lol Jagdpanther5 by jackaldesigned, on Flickr
  6. Kit manufacture: Revell Scale: 1/76 Type: Sd.Kfz.173 Jagdpanther Extras used: None Paints and colours used: Tamiya Dark Yellow, Tamiya Nato Green, thinned washes of Smoke and Mig Europe Dust. Added a few rust patches with Tamiya Red Brown Had his one sitting around in its basecoat for a couple of years now, so thought I better finish such a simple kit. 7. Yeah I sprayed the cockpit with Tamiya smoke, I think it is a bit too dark though. Plus it never seems to spray as smooth as I'd like on clear parts. On the base is just a graphic I found on DeviantArt made by a BSG fan. I just printed it off, cut it out and stuck it on the base to make it a bit more interesting.
  8. Thanks Breaker, it was a couple of months ago I think. To be fair it was the first model I had seen in there for about a year. My local TK Maxx doesn't seem to be one of these that has many models very often.
  9. Kit manufacture: Revell Scale: 1/32 Type: Colonial Viper MkVII Extras used: None Paints and colours used: Tamiya Dark Grey for the main colour on top of Magnesium metalizer and hairspray for chipping. Decals were damaged a little with a sharp knife, then weathered with Flory Dark Dirt, then selectively darkened with a thin mix of Flat Black and Red Brown. Finished off with Xtracrylics Flat Varnish. This was my first go at hard weathering with chipping as this was only a fiver from TK Maxx. The kit went together great with filler only needed for the seam under the outer edges. 10. Thanks for your comments guys. I understand the comments about the kit, but I model as a relaxing way of developing a skill. I do not have not have a desire to replicate every minute detail as I do not have any inclination to "rivet count". This is why I just model what I like the look of at the time, and as someone I respect once said "If it looks like a Spitfire, it is a Spitfire". And anyway spending loads on expensive kits and resin, someone else has done all the hard work anyway. I just try to make models better than average by doing things carefully and right the first time. I find little things like good masking and a reliable wash process have given my models the best boost, along with a cheap airbrush too of course. My only problem is I just love opening new boxes and cutting and gluing the initial parts together, so I have to focus to finish models every now and then. Here is a link to my previous models (some of them may be more accurately detailed than others lol) https://www.flickr.com/photos/jackaldesigned/collections/72157644433150511/
  11. Thank you. The trick with them is to let your clear coat dry FULLY otherwise the wash will embed and dry itself in the clear making it impossible to remove. Then let the wash dry FULLY, then it will rub off like a dream.
  12. Kit manufacture: Revell Scale: 1/32 Type: Bf109F Extras used: None Paints and colours used: Tamiya Black Green XF-27, Tamiya RLM Grey XF-22, Tamiya Flat Yellow, Flory Dark Dirt Wash + Xtracrylics Matt Varnish Bf109F_9 by jackaldesigned, on Flickr Bf109F_8 by jackaldesigned, on Flickr Bf109F_7 by jackaldesigned, on Flickr Bf109F_6 by jackaldesigned, on Flickr Bf109F_5 by jackaldesigned, on Flickr Bf109F_4 by jackaldesigned, on Flickr Bf109F_3 by jackaldesigned, on Flickr Bf109F_2 by jackaldesigned, on Flickr Bf109F_1 by jackaldesigned, on Flickr
  13. Recently i bought the D5100 with kit lens from HDEW for 329. Grey import but with 3 yr uk based warranty, and a uk company too so no delivery from HK. Even with a 1 yr Nikon warranty you would still have to send it off and not see it for a few weeks (thats even if they agree they are liable to fix it!) Dont get drawn into this fear of grey imports especially if you want a good deal.
  14. Or what about the ones they just lost? http://mentalfloss.com/article/17483/8-nuclear-weapons-us-has-lost
  15. Nothing, they are the moulded on seatbelts just painted and with an Indian ink wash.
