  1. Thanks - I just didn't know - excuse my ignorance - I'll sand them down carefully
  2. This may seem a stupid question - so forgive me if it is. I am about to start a recent ebay purchase of a Heller 1/72 Fiesler Storch - on inspecting the moulding I noticed several small circles on the wing surface, both upper side and underside - can anyone tell me if these marks are actual detail or moulding marks? See Photo (One further question - the camo scheme is a very psychedelic green squiggle pattern, is it possible to do this with a green felt tip pen rather than paint?) Thanks for any help and excuse my modelling ignorance (I'm still learning)
  3. My GF's mother lives close by - will try and visit the next time I am in Poland - off topic - I'm building a P37 Los (sorry cant do the L squiggle "w sound " letter) do you know if there are any surviving anywhere?
  4. Nice job - I've just finished a 1/72 version -a particularly nasty kit that was sent from Poland - I could post some picture if you all promise to be nice about it!!!!! s Nice job with the PZL 11 - I understand the only remaining one is in the Aviation Museum in Krakow
  5. Oooo - Thanks - my gut feeling is to paint it similar to the greeny colour in the walkround - I've seen other pictures showing a similar colour to Hu155 (But I've just done 2 PZL 23's in that colour and I'm mid P37B Los - again same colour Hu155) - so a greeny colour it is - will do the underside Hu87 Steel Grey (in reality a bit less blingy aircraft blue). Top surface to be decided prior to start - l've recently returned to modelling and like the heller kits (quite a few bargains to be picked up on ebay) Any other pointers from anyone else gratefully received.
  6. Can anyone assist - via ebay my 1/72 Hellerfest continues - I have obtained a 1/72 Saab J21A - the colour refs are I understand old Heller refs - I've done some digging around and can find varying conversions to Humbrol enamels (my usual paint) - can anyone suggest the correct colours for a J21 - Top is some sort of olive colour - underside light blue'ish - and any pointers to the inside of the cockpit would be gratefully appreciated. I know that someone on here will know the answer The colour refs are 7003, 7019,7030,7064 - alternative more accurate suggestions gratefully received!!
  7. I've got a 1/72 heller Saab J21 on it's way (via ebay from Porugal - Long Story!!!!!!!!!) - would it be an acceptable entry to all?
  8. Quickshine (same / similar) is available in Lakeland (I have used it with great success(
  9. I did the Airfix version recently - my 3rd build after 2 PRXIX Spits following a 30 year sabatical - nearly caused another 30 year gap!!!! I would avoid it - poor fit and little internal detail - you'll need patience to mask the glazing - I've seen industrial greenhouses with less glass!!!!!
  10. I have an unstarted Valom Hampden & Hereford (1/72) - could have a look at them and post pictures if there is any detail on the Valom kit - will need to wait until later - I'm supposed to be designing some railway track at Aberdeen Station at the moment!!!!!!
  11. Yikes - that is good - just picked one up in TK Max for £5.99 - but I know for certain it won't be anywhere near as good as this!
  12. Thanks for the info on the internals - will keep it in mind
  13. I am looking forward to the challenge - I have only just returned following decades away - this will be the most challenging kit I have done - I have been trying to build kits a little out of the run of the mill things. I have to say one I am impressed by some of the vintage Heller Kits - however I thought the Gannet was a bit of an "oddball" - I also have a programme recorded from Discovery Turbo all about the Gannet (& Shackleton - anyone know a good 1/72 Shackleton model!!!!!)
  14. I should add they also had a 1/32 Revell Hurricane (unsure of mark) for peanuts & a 1/78 Fairy Rotodyne!!!!!
  15. It does indeed have etched panel lines & cockpit detail - thanks for the colour heads up - I think I have them already - all in all decent result for a 30 min lunch (only went for socks in TK Max) Thanks once again for your prompt reply and invaluable info!!!!
  16. Not sure - the main box art shows the german Version (any idea where I can do a revel to Humbrol paint conversion)
  17. Just picked up a Revell Fairy Gannet 1/72 AS Mk 1/4 in TK Max (Glasgow) for £5.99 - Good Buy or not?
  18. Evil doesn't quite cover it - it was however a present sent from Poland - which I understand was bought at a model show in the Krakow Aviation Museum!! (I should add I was also sent a P37 Los (MasterCraft), A Valom HP Hereford & Hampden)
  19. Nicely done - I am in the process of completing an equally nasty PZL11 (Plastyk) - which looks remarkably similar!!! (although not as good as yours) - will post in the next few days
  20. I though the kit was great too (I completed 2 Heller Karas recently - I thought they were good kits too) - when the current stash is reduced I will have look on Ebay for more - I like 1/72 & props! Karas are here:- http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=68741
  21. I will check it out - thanks - I only do 1/72 (due to space limitations)
  22. Skulks back to model stash - I am not worthy!!!!!! Awesome!
  23. Thanks for the positive vibes - will try the Klear (or in my case Lakeland Quickshine) trick on the decals soon - I have 1/72 Bloch 152 & a Caudron Renault 714 from Ebay also. The Bloch has similar vintage decals as it appears to be a much older boxing than the Renault. As an aside the Renault specifies Humbrol colours - but the Bloch instruction colours are a bit more generic - does anyone have any knowledge whether the two had similar French Camo colours.
  24. Can I ask how you did the "spots" - I'm considering doing a "spotty" ME 109? Nice job - I like the "oddball" planes a lot
  25. If anyone is interested - 1/72 Heller Kit purchased for peanuts on ebay Brush painted - humbrol enamel - Quickshine (Klear Substitute) & Humbrol Matt Coat. Only deviation from the instruction was the from underside was painted the metallicy brass / copper colour instead of aluminium - I found a pic on the internet of a survivor somewhere and painted it similar to that. I added some stretched sprue for the rigging. This is the 3rd Heller kit I've done on my return to modelling - and I quite like them (I'm not looking for complicated stuff - just as a bit of relaxation) - hope you all find it interesting. The decals started to disintegrate badly during application (as you can see on the corner of the "M" - is there any way to stop this (advice gratefully accepted) Sorry for the pic quality - compact digital camera limitation stike again!!!
