1/72 Avia B-534 RS Models
Savenosouls replied to Savenosouls's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Thanks - multiple thinned enamel coats - then Quickshine - and quickshine to put the decals on (Lakeland Klear substitute) - then humbrol matt coat -
Normally only do fixed wing stuff - but I do like that - nice job - reminds me of a childhood tv programme called "Whirlybirds"

Can I ask what paint colours you used - I have a 1/200 Vulcan to do - I think a cyber-hobby - doubt it'll look as good as your though!!!!!!!

1/72 Avia B-534 RS Models
Savenosouls replied to Savenosouls's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Pete - Thanks for the encouragement - already started another Polish Gift - A PZL 7 (already done a PZL11) - I'd like to think it'll be done in 2 weeks. FlopyM - I am quite proud of it - I don't have the patience or artistic skill of the masters on here - but I have taught myself the stretched runner nonsense - I think it makes a big difference to the final look. -
Go Easy - Just do it for fun - The kit was a present all the way from Poland I understand an Avia B-534 - Bulgarian Livery Hand painted (been on the back burner for about 12 months due to work commitments - Scotland's train tracks & junctions take precedence Im afraid!!!!) If anyone is interested - Hand painted, various humbrol enamels - quick shine (klear substitute) & matt coat - and stretched runner for the rigging, which I have no idea if accurate or not (couldn't really find that much on it other than a photo of one in a museum somewhere) I only do this for fun - I tip my hat to the masterpieces on here - this is not really worthy - but someone might be interested. I have been trying to build something other than the ordinary - although I think that I am beginning to find that Airfix kits are about my level!!!! The kit itself is good - but trying to set the top wings is a nightmare for my basic knowledge - almost put me off modelling again (having rediscovered it) Photos not great - ipad limitations!!!! Here you go if you want to have a look Thanks for looking

Does it require a nose weight to prevent it tail sitting?
-
Could I ask what type of green paint you went for - I was due to do one of these however the inconvenience of work has meant I was unable to contribute. Your J21 looks great (to my untrained eye) I did wonder about trying to make a set of ladders and use a spare pilot to recreate the photos as shown on the IPMS Stockholm website!!!

I use the stuff - have never used Kleer - the Lakeland stuff seems to do the job just fine - I did read a while ago that they were stopping it, so bought another bottle. It's the dog's dangly bit for decals!!!!

3x Caudron C.714 C1 Cyclone 1/72 RS models
Savenosouls replied to Horr!do's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Nice - I attempted the Heller just after my return to modelling about 18months - nearly put me off it again for life (I do quite like some of the older Heller stuff) - I like the Polish livery and the paint job - nice. -
I have one in the stash - anything I should know & also what colours / paints did you use Ta in advance
-
Anything I need to know about - I have one of these in the pile & a Valom Hereford!!!!!!!
-
oooo now that's nice - I may add that to my list - but I already have a stash of different things - Currently doing an Avia 534 and just starting an Airacuda (next Frenchie up is an MS225) all 1/72 - I do like your Hawk - very nice Cheers Gordon

I just did an approx conversion from the old Heller colours!!!!My green is a bit more in your face than yours!!!! I was doing a Renault Caudron at the same time and used the same colours - but yours is way way way nicer if you are interested (bear in mind I only do it fun and the kit cost me peanuts on ebay):- My Bloch 152 Anyway keep up the good work - I like the more "esoteric" subjects
-
Nice - looks way better than my 1/72 Heller effort posted a wee while ago - although I'm glad to see my camo colours were not a million miles removed from your nice paint job (although I didn't get the yellowey wheel well colour (the old Heller instructions were slightly vague).

Bell YFM-1A Airacuda - Valom 1/72 (ref 72022)
Savenosouls replied to Savenosouls's topic in Aircraft WWII
Bill - pm sent with my email - Thank you -
Long shot maybe - I've been given a Special Edition Bell YFM-1A Airacuda - Valom 1/72 (ref 72022) as a gift - unfortunately the instructions are incomplete - I have steps 1 - 3 & 6 - 8. I'm missing steps 4 & 5. The instuction sheets I'm guessing should be double sided and one is not! Can anyone assist with a scan or pdf - I'd be most grateful. Thanks in advance for any help.

Nice but very spooky - I've just watched a programme on the TV about that very plane!!!

Heller 1/72 Fiesler Storch Fi 156
Savenosouls replied to Savenosouls's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
I thought it would be difficult when I read about it - all I do is get a piece of sprue - light it with a lighter, let it catch until the flame takes hold - then blow it out and dab the hot end of the sprue onto a plastic chopping board and stretch, the speed you pull at makes a difference to the thickness, it tends to get a bit thicker when it cools also. I did learn a trick from someone on here, after attaching it, if it is sagging a wee bit, heat up a knife or screw driver with a flame and run it along the sprue (not touching it though) and it tightens it up almost instantaneously! If I can do it - anyone can, trust me!!!! -

Thanks Dave - I am a returnee to the game after 30 odd years - I have the patience now - I thin the paint and give it 4 or 5 coats - I freehanded the camo with a soft pencil and went over it with the paint. I only do it for a bit of relaxation after the stress of work. I do quite like the old Heller kits - I think they are great value on ebay - I still have a Saab J21A and a Morane Saulnier 225, although next up is a nice Avia 534B! Thanks for the kind words. -
Got this for peanuts on ebay - seemed like a bargain until I realised the squiggle camo!!! Probably way beyond my rubbish skills!! I've no idea if the camo is authentic - all done freehand!! For anyone interested - Hand painted, humbro enamels, quickshine gloss varnish for decals and humbrol matt coat to finish (and yes I still can't paint glazing!!!!) Stretched Sprue Antenae. Thanks for looking

Do you know if there are any current Hurricane (preferably 1/72) models that contain decals for Kosciuszko (303? Squadron)? -

Nice Arkady72 - looks a nicer kit that the 1/72 PZL11 I did recently - I have a PZL7 (Mastercraft) to do - looks very very similar - was thinking of doing it the Transylvanian Camo Scheme. I'm also reading a fantastic book "For Your Freedom & Ours - all about the Polish Squadrons in the RAF during the WWII. -
Any chance you could tell me the Hu ref colours you used for the camo colours? Ta in advance!
