  1. Newcomen Hangar - I remember Part 2 Stoker training being set up there in the early seventies. I was there from '71 to '74. Happy memories of Expeds to Pig's Bush in the New Forest,
  2. Thanks for that, so you and Selwyn are both correct! Interesting though, that the instructions have black instead of blue (which was my original query). But as the reference picture shows the blue, I'll stick with that. Dave
  3. Thanks guys, I'd seen the video before on TV, Great footage and some excellent detail information. I think I'll go with my colour interpretation, as the aircraft in the video is a preserved example, and that green looks to be a fairly standard primer/ interior colour. The pictures in my original post show a definite demarcation instead of a solid colour to the decckhead.
  4. Thanks guys, I think I'll go for the Bluish grey and a dirty cream, with some judicious weathering/dirtying. Cheers Dave
  5. Hi, just starting the MikroMir Beverley, and trying to work out the correct colours for the interior of the Freight deck. The instructions say black for the lower portion and white for the upper portion and deckhead. The photos on the web seem to show a bluey grey, and a creamy colour. Has anyone any knowledge of the correct colours? I'm hoping to replicate this view of a Daimler Ferret being loaded. https://defenceoftherealm.wordpress.com/2014/11/15/blackburn-beverley-c-1/#jp-carousel-1107
  6. Hi Tony, Take a look at http://www.mtbhulls.co.uk/ Hulls available from 1/96 up to 1/35. I have one of his hulls, a Ham Class Inshore Sweeper, and quality is good. Dave
  7. Hi Mike, PM sent as I don't want to be accused of advertising a certain auction site!
  8. Worth noting that I got both the Minicraft C-130J and C-130J-30 for £65 including postage. The same price from Welsh Models would be £82.98 plus postage. Okay, you have to buy decals, but at least one is going to be a Special anyway. Cheers, Dave
  9. I'm still working on that. I'm only interested in RAF (or MoD) models, and for a W2, Welsh Models is best. The C3, the Welsh models conversion and a cheap Revell kit. C4 and C5 probably Minicraft. Waiting for an Amodel C-130F (Blue Angels) to arrive to see what it is like. Dave
  10. Just received an email reply from them, the 1/144 sheet should be with us later thia year. Also asked if there was any chance of sheets for some of the earlier RAF models. Dave
  11. Hi Ray, thanks for that, I'd missed the announcement. Unfortunately, the Catalogue Number has been allocated to Warning Stars, and the Hercules doesn't appear in their catalogue. Dave
  12. Hi, is anyone planning to do any of the special schemes for RAF Hercules aircraft? There are some pretty stunning schemes on show: http://www.c-130.net/aircraft-database/C-130/special-color-schemes/airforce/RAF/ Dave
  13. The F.6 at RAF Hendon is also marked as Sq Ldr JC Jarron, with fin code BA
  14. Does anyone have good walk-around pictures of the Merlin HC.4. Air Graphics Models are looking for source materials so they can produce a conversion kit. Any help would be appreciated! Cheers, Dave
  15. PP Models did some 1/48 figures, aircrew and handling crew. I've got sets FIG 401 and FIG 402. I've also got white metal aircrew for the 1/48 Swordfish , Don't know the maker but the label says KSHG 74 (Scale 1:48). Didn't Airwaves produce some white metal figures? Dave The Swordfish figures are Hecker & Goros, listed by Parabellum.
  16. Thanks Dave, that explains why decal manufacturers are fighting shy of producing it. I'll just have to pretend that it has weathered!
  17. Thanks guys, to me it looks like a mustard yellow with a grey dropped shadow - but I stand to be corrected!
  18. Hi, BAC 1-11-479 (ZE432) was repainted with the ETPS logo in large letters on the forward fuselage. Does anyone have any ideas of the two colours used? It looks Gold ,with a grey shadow, but I'm certain someone must know the true colours Dave
  19. Any of the Royal Aircraft Establishment, especially ZE432 ETPS scheme!
  20. June 1944 - I'm certain something happened then! I know my father nearly got sacked for trying to join up (Reserved occupation - he was working on extracting magnesium from sea water at Hartlepool) He always said that my birth was the reason Germany gave up! Royal Marine Kayakers attaching demolition charges to beach obstacles. PS - isn't everyone very young?
  21. Hi, what would be a recommended colour for these aircraft?
  22. What model, AS,AEW or T. I think the Warpaint No. 23 will provide all you need. Drawings are to 1/72, so rescaling on a printer/scanner should be no problem. Dave
  23. I'd be quite happy to remove the worry!

    !/48 Swift FR5

The Falcon kit eventually repays the effort. Plenty of excellent examples on the web.
