  1. Look in the FAQ section,2nd page,it details how to edit the topic title.HTH………..Dave.
  2. Bats are great natural pest control, keeping insects away from crops, our homes and gardens.A single Soprano Pipistrelle bat can consume up to 3000 insects in one night. Dave.
  3. Bats are the only flying mammal!
  4. Cat flaps can be a problem. In our old house we had one fitted, but it wasn't in for long.We had 2 cats at that time, and if it wasn't the prey(alive/dead) that had been brought in,it was the un-invited feline friends that were a problem.Went down one morning and there was four strange cats sitting on the kitchen table. Also bed space is at a premium at the moment,I usually wake up balancing on 5 inches at the edge of the bed ,while the mistress and SWMBO hog the remainder of the bed, both snoring contently.
  5. Oh,it doesn't have to be winter in our household! Our mistress has developed a mild arthiritic condition whereas she cannot now get onto the bed,she is ok for the sofa, but the size of the mattress is too much. So,usually about 0300 hrs,she gets off the bed, goes downstairs for something to eat and a toilet tray episode. Then she will come back upstairs and create until she is lifted back onto the bed.Bless her!
  6. Beardie, yes it must have been awful, but we didn't have dealings with the family of the deceased, just the vicar and the bishop. Must agree with you too about the consequences of alcohol in society.
  7. When I worked in the NHS,we had, from a local parish,a vicar admitted who had a very serious drink problem. It had been tolerated for some time, even his philandering with congregational members of the opposite sex, until the day day came when he had to provide a service for the funeral of one of his parisheners. He had over imbibed of the wine, had started to perform the service, then slid into the open grave onto the top of the coffin. He received about a months treatment at our local institute, and was then passed onto a drinks dependency unit.
  8. On straight pieces of railway track, overhead wires for a pantograph, the overhead wires zig zag above the track to spread the wear on the pantograph equally and increase its durability. The contact between the pantograph and wire is maintained and lubricated by graphite contact carbons. Dave.
  9. The Swansea and Mumbles Railway, opened in 1807,was the first railway in the world to accept fare paying passengers.
  10. The Burbage Spitfire,of 74 Sqdn, was lost 27th June 1941 nr Adinkerke,Belgium. The pilot was Sqdn Leader John Colin Mungo Park DFC + Bar,12 confirmed victories to his credit. Believed to have been shot down by pilots Major Rolf Pingel and Major Walter Balthasar flying Bf-109's of 1/JG26 and JG2. I believe there was a total of 13 Spitfires raised in the county of Leicestershire. Dave.
  11. Hi Merv, try Aviattic, they produce some Gotha decals. Dave.
  12. I see there are a couple of minor mods needed to the G.I and UWD,nothing serious.Details are on the Wingnuts web site if you go onto the relevant kit pages. Dave.
  13. Gotha UWD has just arrived, thanks Duncan. All I need now are some scale figures of Dick Dastardly and Muttley to finish the image of a wacky races contender! Dave.
  14. Hi Paul, if no luck with spares from the magazine, you could always try evilbay as I have seen odd magazines with parts for sale. Dave.
  15. Your choices are very limited for this kit.Techmod of Poland produced some decals for Polish post WW1 a/c,but I don't think they are available at the mo,you might find some on fleabay. The only other way is to check out some web pages, build logs or Windsock data files for images that you could possibly use to print off markings for your own personal use. Dave.
  16. In Scale Aircraft Modelling April 2019 Vol 41 Issue 2 on page 44 there is an interesting article on how to simulate bulged vinyl tyres that looks quite effective. Never been a fan of kit supplied rubber/vinyl tyres. Your kit build looking good. Dave.
  17. Hi Martian,it looks like they were only used as transport/courier a/c according to my humble sources,I have 5 books on the SM79 and not one mentions their aggressive use or being fitted out with m/g's,but who knows.Apparently the white scheme was employed to emphasize Lebanons non-interventiom policies with Israel. There were 4 a/c delivered from Italy in 1949 which had been 'cobbled' together from a/c dumped on airfields throughout parts of Italy, refurbed by Savoia and fitted with Piaggio P.XI engines.2 of these aircraft were returned to Italy approx. 1970.1 sits in the Vigna di Valle museum and is now configured as a torpedo a/c,and the other sits in the Caproni museum at Trento and is resplendent in its Lebanese colours. Hope this helps somewhat and good luck............Dave.
  18. For further reference, there was a book published,'Of struggle and flight' by Karlis Irbitis that described Latvian aviation from its inception in 1919 to 1940,and described all the aircraft used during that period with photo's and drawings. It may be available from your local library or bidding sites. It was published by Canada Wings as K.Irbitis emigrated to Canada, and had some dealings with Vtol development.Blue Rider did produce a Latvian aviation booklet that included a decal sheet, but this has been OOP for a while.Their periodical mags that were produced during the 90's (I think) also contained articles on inter war and more modern aircraft. There was also at one time a web site dedicated to Latvian aviation and modelling the aircraft used. Dave.
  19. There were other mags about at the time.Military Modelling @15p per issue.Modelworld by Almark(short lived mag, only went on for approx. 2 years!) @25p per issue.Scale Models @15p per issue. My wage at the time was roughly £35 pw as a truck driver, but one of my problems was at that time was that I delivered to a lot of the model shops advertising and so never had any money lol!
  20. Alfisti

    The Weather,

Yes it was impressive, and a bit scary. But the thing that got me was the cat slept through the whole lot, normally if you bang a bucket she practically freaks out! Dave.
  21. Instead of glue, you could try varnish,I think it was the late Harry Woodman that advocated its use to prevent plastic parts becoming misshapen. Its applied in a similar vein to when applying metal foil, both mating surfaces are coated, then wait until they become tacky, then join.HTH. Great build(s) going on,just loving it. Dave.
  22. Just had a look on their ebay store and the kit would be 157 euro's plus postage. Dave.
  23. How do you add a show date to the calendar section. TIA........Dave.
  24. Lovely job Sal82.Could you explain how you toned down/weathered the wooden Pontos deck material? Dave.
