Well, had a few ups and downs with this thing (mainly some really poor software) but I have moved on.
I did a final print at max resolution on Saturday (well, I was out messing in the garage on one of my other projects whilst it printed but you know what I mean!) of the rear fuselage, and I am happy enough to move on with it. The space for the square tube spine was a little tight but with the right amount of persuasion it fits very snugly into the front half.
After a bit of fettling the rear half of the fuselage was stuck to the front half and the spine using 1hr epoxy and superglue. The sections match up perfectly, and my checks of tolerance against the CAD models showed about half a mm difference in length, height and width dimensions. I'm happy with that for a first shot! This assembly is now covered in isopon, and will be sanded tomorrow.
I had also tried a quick print of a wing section a while ago so I thought I'd chuck that in here too. There's more to do on this, so it's just a bit of an experiment.
More CAD to do now - whole fuselage by Christmas? hmm. I'll give it a go!
Cheers,
coanda
Oh, this will be for creation of masters - I'm thinking of a run of kits if there's interest? I'm planning a 1/32nd scale Vampire after this.
