  1. Hello Hurricane363, did you get the PM I sent you yesterday - new to pm'ing on this forum so not sure it worked?
  2. Ok, that can be done. I'll drop you a pm about it......
  3. Hi, don't know if you've seen this photo yet.....its too big to post here.... Good Bristol 138 image...... I would say that its black/dark green.
  4. Ok, what are the dimensions for that? (length/width/height ?)
  5. I have a 3d printer - its a bit basic but should be fairly good for making a start on large surfaces and shapes. I've been using it to develop an Bf-108 Taifun kit, but, I'm saving up to move on in the 3D printing world to something with much finer resolution and commercial build quality - that's going to be in the region of 6k.
  6. Excellent stuff. You may wish to take a look at the Sharklets on the A320 NEO, and scale them up for this aircraft
  7. Fantastic work Olivier - what plans are you using?
  8. Great post Badger! Your last paragraph is my aim - day to day I'm a structures engineer at Airbus Filton and I want to bring this technology together with my work life.
  9. Hey, Yep, the idea is to start with what I really know and then branch out into other stuff. The Mother Out Law is big into dolls houses so that's another whole arena to look in to. I'm also really interested in making high quality one-offs of pretty much anything. Yes, I had thought about slicing along the span and building that way - that would be interesting in terms of including the undercarriage bay. I shall do an experimental print cut along the span to see what happens. This aircraft lends itself to that because the wing is straight. Just off to sand the isopon down. It's salmon coloured now, so it looks even more like a sex aid. cheers, coanda
  10. Well, had a few ups and downs with this thing (mainly some really poor software) but I have moved on. I did a final print at max resolution on Saturday (well, I was out messing in the garage on one of my other projects whilst it printed but you know what I mean!) of the rear fuselage, and I am happy enough to move on with it. The space for the square tube spine was a little tight but with the right amount of persuasion it fits very snugly into the front half. After a bit of fettling the rear half of the fuselage was stuck to the front half and the spine using 1hr epoxy and superglue. The sections match up perfectly, and my checks of tolerance against the CAD models showed about half a mm difference in length, height and width dimensions. I'm happy with that for a first shot! This assembly is now covered in isopon, and will be sanded tomorrow. I had also tried a quick print of a wing section a while ago so I thought I'd chuck that in here too. There's more to do on this, so it's just a bit of an experiment. More CAD to do now - whole fuselage by Christmas? hmm. I'll give it a go! Cheers, coanda Oh, this will be for creation of masters - I'm thinking of a run of kits if there's interest? I'm planning a 1/32nd scale Vampire after this.
  11. Well, it boggled my mind soo much that I decided to do major bits of the cad work again. The software that figures out the tool paths really hated the nose of the cowling. Of course, it didn't fail as such, it just did tool paths for as much as it could. I think it was down to the thickness of the wall. I wasn't terribly happy with the outer surface of the cabin part of the fuselage so I am doing this part again too. Work has been high pressure for a couple of weeks and will be probably up to Christmas. I have DIY targets to hit, and a car to refurbish aswell, so it's all go here! Bear with me please guys. This is important to me so it won't be dropped.
  12. Thanks guys - good to know it's interesting some people out there. The cowling has just gone on to print - 7hrs apparently. I am printing this as thin as possible so it will be interesting to see the outcome. The cowling is the most complex shape on the aircraft - everything else is childs play in comparison. Probably about 15 hrs of modelling and rebuilt about 4 times. I have some pics on my macbook so I'll get them up in a bit. I have to swap back and forth between my windows desktop and my macbook because I prefer the software that's only a windows release for generating the toolpaths.
