  1. now I got completely confused... http://www.flugzeugbilder.de/show.php?id=975191 This picture shows XR504 with obviously longer HU.5-like cabin windows in 1987? But other photos show XR504 in full golden yellow SAR scheme in 1989 - obviously 1987 can't be true as the spotter group of Gütersloh list XR504/BF as active in ETUO iuntil 1980 ... which does fit to the transfer in 1981 - but why the longer windows?
  2. I found out that the crash you mentioned on Ben More was 6 years later, in 1987. I know which nose you mean, but I scarcely saw any photos of it. I remember Wessex' with the parrot-like upside-down beak with big "Rescue" titles on it. But any photogrphig evidence ist for me as rare as the "tropical" nose on Whirlwinds. Interesting what you said about XR504 at No. 84Sqn at Cyprus. I only knew the HU.5C XS498 as "Joker" later on at Akrotiri. Thanks for your further photographic evidence for unusual Wessex SAR schemes.
  3. Dear fellow modelers, today I stumbled over this very interesting Wessex. The paint scheme suggests that this one was just in the transition from a HC.2 troop/cargo ship to the SAR role at 22Sqn. Pictures were taken in 1981 at Leuchars. My question now: Who can provide some background information on this scheme? Interesting is the "why?" and "for how long?", "for test purposes?" Thanks in advance
  4. astonishing detail work I climbed this ladder twice when they were still active
  5. I can understand why you're saying that, the Hobbyboss kit looks "nicer" at all. Better Interior, better surface detail, more different options ... But I have some trouble with the nose section, especially the canopy framing. The one-piece canopy with moulded-on side crew door windos doesn't look very well proportioned here on built models. Please tell me if I'm wrong. It's similar with the Lynx or the Mi-2, I have the impression that in almost every hobbyboss kit is at least one prominent shape issue-mistake. Let's what an experienced modeler like you will mke out of it. Keep on the good work.
  6. Oh, I'll keep watching this one... There are still some SH-60 on my to-do-list, but though the Hobbyboss kit has finer surfaces, I sympathize more with the Hasegawa kit. I'm very curious what the progress will look like.
  7. interesting to see what you can get out of this old kit...well done I also have an Italian and USCG Pelican on my to do list.
  8. you did a great job on your wild cat. I like the finish and the covers.
  9. Tonight I would like to present you an older model in my small collection. Some rotorheads among us may already have seen this model. It was finished in 2008 I believe... The Czech short run company Legato (now AFAIK more or less merged with AZModel) was the only company (besides the fuselage from the Polish company Top Gun) who released the strechted version of the BO-105. The kit is made from resin and some kind of mixture from Airfix and Top Gun. Minor parts like skids, rotors and stabilizers are copied from airfix. But there was also inspiration from the earlier Top Gun conversion as there are floatation bags included from the Top Gun Swedish Hkp9b option. The interior parts are developed by legato. Clear parts are included as vacformed. The livery displays a helicopter from the finnish EMS helicopter system "MediHeli" based at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. The original helicopter was replaced by an EC-135. the ground base was built from scratch and model railroad material... ... and represents a HEMS base desing which could be commonly found at German Hospitals The painting was done by airbrush with Humbrol and Revell enamels. The red colour should not be so dark, but now I can't change it anymore The decal sheet is printed by TallyHO! and gives 5 (!) options: Czech Police, Virginia State Police (be careful it's a BO-105 LS with high skids), Swiss Air Rescue, the finnish rescue version shown here and last but not least a Hamburg Police bird. some modifications were necessary becaus the resin fuselage was not free from enclosed air bubbles Here you have an overview over the major parts. The fuselage is moulded in one piece fo that the interior had to be inserted through the windshield canopy opening I added anti-settling pads from platic sheet and stole the step from a BK-117 kit. As either Airfix' instrument panel and the one from Legato were totally wrong in shape, I just cannibalized a Roco - BO-105 in 1:87 scale. Nobody notice a difference in the dimensions. The medical equiment was composed with the help of a EC-145 kit from Revell and everything was put into the fuselage through the front hole This is what I used (and cannibalized) - Airfix for clear and smaller plastic parts and the EC-145 mainly for the interior
  10. Looks good to me...I wonder if they also will release a HAR.2 or if we just have to modify the interior from scratch and take the xtradecal sheet...
  11. this one turned out very nice! Well done! I saw the decal-desaster with the 771 NAS version in a Germany forum and I was very astoinished how such a mess could happen ...
  12. lovely progress so far. Especially the engine tubing and wiring looks great. Looking forward to see further progress
  13. can't wait to see more! Well done progress so far
  14. What a wonderful model. A very well done demonstration what one can take out from a rather old Airfix kit Beautiful!
  15. looks superb with an incredibly speedy process
  16. amazing model! Can we expect to get images again for Scale-Rotors? Thanks in advance
