And the French ALAT scheme should be single colour olive, no two tone camp -
Hi Colin, although Esci did actually a Carabinieri AB-205 from their Huey kit in the 1980s, this Italeri boxing includes their own tooling from the mid 1990s which is the same basic kit as their AB-212/UH-1N except for the nose and engine section. I’m in with your builds, Steve. If you want to get some accuracy and improvement comments on the kits, let me know.

Thanks, as 1/48 is not my focus, I must have neglected that. I only knew of reboxes of old Esci (of course as they were acquired by Italeri), Kinetic, Heller (CL-415) and recently Fujimi toolings by Italeri.

I also noticed the rise in prices and simultaneously a more and more less interesting new releases range year-by-year . You may have also recognized that decal sheets and options are getting smaller. Only a couple of years ago, product development said that they always want to offer at least two different paint schemes/operator options (esp. for aircraft). Nevertheless, there were also complaints from them about rising decal printing costs with the two Italian printing companies (who supposedly dictate the prices like in a cartel). Result: Decal options are reduced and the complexity of sheets and schemes as well. Apart from any special paint releases, I have the impression that this could be seen in the complete (at least in the aircraft) range. Apart from that: A lot of ordinary toy retailers cancelled plastic modeling products in general from their selling ranges in Germany (which is the major market for RoG). Also the biggest "classic" department store chain reduced its Revell shelf space (if not abolished at all). That what happened to model trains earlier in Germany seems to take place for plastic modeling as well. Model making diappears (or has already disappeared) from high streets here. My (admittedly simple) thought is that they simply try to compensate the not-so-high-anymore number of sold kits (and maybe also rising costs) with repeated increases in price. I also had the impression with Italeri before. The aforementioned price/value ratio was also a result of the strategy to serve the broad masses on the also aforementioned wide retail basis. I strongly have the impression and made also the experience while talking to product development employees in the past that there was a shift in that what they consider to be the target group. Whereas in earlier times, young people below 25 years of age and early beginners were the most important group, nowadays they seem to have the older, more professional, more picky, more generous (re-entry) modeler in mind. They are able and willing to invest more money into that hobby and take it more seriously. Nevertheless, it is questionnable if Revell will be able to fulfill the demands of this group, especially if the overall quality decreases and is not always competitive anymore. It seems to me that Revell/Hobbico somehow struggles with the insight that at least their plastic modeling range does not have any chance to compete with other (digital) leisure items in the market of under 20-year-olds. This may be different with R/C products but from my experience Revell and their owners see themselves as a part of the toy sector and the field of modeling (either static or R/C) being a part of it. Maybe this classification is economically correct whereas we as a part of a still heterogeneous group of customers will come to a different conclusion. Or would you consider your hobby to be toy-construction? Other competing, well established companies specialized in plastic modeling and put all their efforts in that. They do not try to open up new fields of product ranges and experimental market trials like Revell did the last decades (also even before Hobbico came into play). Just my 2cents

The general parts layout is similar, but the sprue arrangement is not though. I assume the Hasegawa Jag to be older than Italeri's. A polybag cooperation between Hasegawa and Italeri would also be something new.

I would like to see a new Dominie from Sword as well, but which doesn't necessarily mean that Sword produces kits which are "state-of-the-art". Although I consider most of their releases as "pleasing" and good value for money, they remain certainly short run kits which require a lot of tender love and care. Nevertheless, a fictional new Sword Dominie would most likely have crispier detail than the chunky Airfix predecessor. -
Seems as if Sword enlarges their HS.125 range: https://swordmodel.cz/en/home/165-sw72141-c-29a-bae-125-800.html

1/72 - Piasecki HRP-1 Rescuer by LF Models - released - new boxing

Clear parts are injected! -
There were seperate boxings for C-27J and G.222 until now, but apart from the engine/prop sprues, both variants consist of pretty much the same parts. If they label it as C-27A/J and G.222 I would expect that they include all parts for both aircraft.

That’s a very good result. I like it. Proof that an nowadays ancient kit doesn‘t have to hide! -
I had a closer relationship with Revell Germany some years ago. Maybe due to the ownership changes some of the information mentioned below is obsolete but AFAIK Revell (Germany) HQ in Bünde only houses: administration distribution and warehouse product development (catalogue wise) and marketing department packaging mould archive one last injection moulding machine for testshots Actual plastic production is located as you say in Poland, whereas original Revell USA moulds are (AFAIK) mainly located or shipped to China and produced over there. Reboxes of kits of other manufacturers such as ICM, Italeri, Zvezda, Academy and Hasegawa (in the past) are delivered as sprues in polybags from their production sites, so there is no transfer of tools to RoG. The actual kit development and moulding process is contracted to other companies, mainly in South East Asia, the tools are then shipped to Europe. Decal design is made either by own designers or different freelance artists outside the company, decal printing is mainly done by Cartograf. First I don't wanted to comment on this statement originated from LSP forums, I just consider it as rumour and wait for further signals to verify or falsify...but ... EDIT: What would be the effect anyway? Most modellers I know (me included) have stashed up so many unbuilt kits that they could survive a multiple lifetimes without buying any further kit. If this rumour becomes true, the moulds wouldn't be lost. Someone will most certainly buy and re-release them. Last not least RoGs contribution to the new kits list wasn't that big in the last 3-5 years as it was before. Of course it's a matter of personal choice and preference but other manufacturers are far more innovative and interesting. Furthermore, in Germany (I cannot speak for other regions of the earth) shelf space for plastic modeling have declined considerably, if not disappeared completely in department stores such as Karstadt/Kaufhof and also in a large number of toy stores. Sometimes I think that we have to accept that plastic modeling is a descending branch, at least if you consider the masses and not the well-organized and -informed folks here on forums and the net.

That’s a great Lightning, now I‘m a bit feared takin‘ hands on my Sword kits 🙄 -
That’s a very nice result then! Can please you elaborate on your impression that this is „a really bad kit“. I have some of them in my stash, single seaters as well as twins. Sure, it’s short run and I see some missing location points and the need for strengthen the aileron attachment points but what was bad with yours?

Jur, very sorry about your decal problems. But you are not the first who tells that about Print&Scale. If you want to stick with an orange HT-8 trainer, maybe somebody could share with you the decal sheet of Italeri‘s current Seabat issue: https://www.italeri.com/en/product/2695/2/7 I have two kits of them but I will again have access to them maybe in a couple of weeks.
