  1. As far as I remember the Esci kit has shape issues. The Minicraft kit is more correct.
  2. At the Euro Model Expo an Eduard employee told me that they are principally willing to re-release basically any set if there are enough people asking for it. So we have to collect the number of people and the number of their required sets and send an inquiry to Eduard. I also have some other sets I‘m interested to obtain again.
  3. Think I have the second issue boxing in my stash somewhere. I also hope that they will rework the clear parts. As far as I remember the lower front canopy is split in the fuselage centerline which the original does not have.
  4. More and more often, for decades neglected subjects will appear from multiple producers at the same time 🫣 Same with Mi-8/17 in 48 scale.
  5. We already discussed that earlier. Depends on era and aircraft. What instantly comes to my mind are the missing search light on the nose, on the fuselage sides and the rear observer seats in the cabin. I believe that there is more to do.
  6. I suppose that Airfix will come up with a HAR.3 and boxing one day but … - HAR. 3/ Mk.43/ Mk.48 rear cabin observer’s seats - Mk. 41 rear observers seats (different cushion than those above) - life raft and SAR gear (slings, hooks, lines) - medical equipment - stokes litter - rescue basket etc. Airfix HU.5 SAR version only offers seats and the nav/plotters station and nothing more
  7. New variant released. German ADAC „Christoph 1“ from Munich, D-HYAH Swiss Rega, HB-ZQN Contains new sprue for Bucher aeromedical interior (only suitable for ADAC) Snow skids and floats included. Loads of parts for the spares box. Inbox review here: https://www.modellversium.de/kit/artikel.php?id=13900
  8. Yes, they released the W-3 Sokol helicopter in different boxings in 1/48 and 1/72 scale. I can only speak of the 1/72 releases and I like it. But one could argue if it’s over engineered for a 1/72 scale helicopter.
  9. I do not own the kit yet but from what I see I would clearly say “basically yes”. But you will have to invest some own effort for some lumps and bumps (like nose search light) and antennae. The interior of a HAR.3 is not covered IHMO but you can source some of the existing parts so that you only have to add rear seats (included ASW operator seats are different), stretcher, med/sar equipment. But the latter has also to be done for a HU.5 anyway. All above always depends on the time frame of the aircraft you want to represent. I also strongly consider Airfix to release a HAR.3 boxing in the future.
  10. There are a lot of differences. Airframes and variant development changed a lot during service life on either side and Westland went into its own direction leaving only the basic design concept of the Sea King to be of Sikorsky origin - basically spoken. I tend to disagree. The focus markets of Airfix are certailnly the home country and mainland Europe and there were or still are more Westland Sea Kings present than Sikorsky ones. Apart from that, the research subjects are available at front door. Why should they study a Sikorsky one? From what I see from the spues is that a Sikorsky Sea King is not possible to make from the tooling and there is no reason to believe that this is even considered to be done in the future. Everything else would have been resulted in a different parts layout.
  11. I cannot see the fixed landing gear but I can see windows for a Junglie and "disco lights" on the clear sprue which were common for Junglies ...
  12. That „Russian Dauphin“ looks very good. Knowing the kit I can imagine what difficulties you might have. Good work, tough job.
  13. KP’s boxarts are in most cases basically the same drawing which is just mirrored for the different versions. My assumption: They got rid of the weapons in order to minimize the efforts in changing the boxarts for the specific version. Fits to the obvious strategy of Mr Muzikant to pull the most money out of each kit with several boxings and cheap production costs. For me personally the AZ or KP Cobras are no alternative to the Special Hobby ones.
  14. Yeah, you're right but what we see is nothing more than an early stage rendering. I would consider it to be somthething they start off with. If you compare AB-204 and short bodied UH-1 you'll find some more differences (tailboom and rotor blade length for example) apart from the exhaust setting and I'm sure that they will get it right in the end if this kit will appear some day. I'm pretty sure that the Kitty Hawk kits will reaapear some day!
  15. I think this discussion is as old as the first releases of MRCs helicopter range in the early or mid-1990ies. One should keep in mind that the majority of all 1:35 helicopter models released until now are army helicopters, only the naval H-60 range of Kitty Hawk coming to my mind as an exception. If you look over to Revell, their large helo range always was and is in the 1:32 aircraft scale. I believe that the intention of the manufactuters is indeed to access the AFV modeler. You may not have seen a 1:35 helicopter together with an AFV in one diorama - that's anecdotical evidence. I have a low bed trailer with a dismantled Mi-8MT in my mind as a rather commonly photographed model in Europe. Apart from that, the majority of the sold kits will not be seen on exhibitions or on the web anyway 🙂
  16. superb result. I just ordered a kit @ Red Roo. Did you forget to remove a piece of the canopy masking on the port lower front canopy?
  17. I very much like the mods you did on the HB Lynx. Very good result. the more I think about the HB Lynx, the more I come to the conclusion that It can only be turned into a proper Lynx if you bash it with some Airfix parts as you did. Did you also interchange the sliding doors with those from Airifx? I always think that HB‘s sliding doors windows are too small.
  18. Folks I need your help: Normally I‘m a helicopter guy and don’t have much of an idea about fixed wingers. But I have a faible for the raspberry ripple schemes. Therefore I got hold of the following kit: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/hasegawa-00198-jaguar-t-mk2-dera--177918 The hasegawa kit is pretty basic and I thought about replacing the plastic with Hobbyboss: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/hobbyboss-87259-jaguar-e--254021 Is it worth to swap the kit or does it have serious flaws? Is there any aftermarket you would recommend? Any help is appreciated. Cheers!
  19. Hopefully not only a Mi-8MT/Mi-17 but also a “classic” Mi-8T. Hey, and what about rivets this time?
  20. I have problems with the proportions of the nose. Am I the only one?
