  1. Thanks for the many kind comments on my two ships. I appreciate it very much as the new kid on the block. I recently completed a 1/700 scale USS Baltimore by Combrig -- the old protected cruiser from the 1890s. Bulding in that scale was recommended by a friend on the ship forum. It was quite a piece of work to put together and detail, as I discovered 1/700 is about as small as I can go and still see what I'm doing! If I do another in that scale, it will have to be a larger ship, like HMS Tiger, which I have always wanted to build in 1/350 except there aren't any out there. Will post some photos of the build when I finish cropping the photos and selecting the ones I need. Regards to all, and thanks again!
  2. I have loaded three of my images here, following the instructions (I hope!!!) These are my Tamiya 1/350 builds of Missouri and King George V, commemorating their operations together at the end of WWII. These are my first trys at really trying to build a realistic model and such. It's a lot of fun, and a lot of enjoyable work, although my wife is not always pleased with my model building table and stuff in HER living room, but we work it out. By the way, the rigging on the Missouri is complete, it's just done with fake wig hair, which is I think far more realistic than the sprue-derived rigging on the KG V which I am not very happy with and am replacing eventually. The hair is more to "scale" but is of course harder to see. Looking forward to seeing if I did this right, and to the comments from the experts. I've seen some of the work here, and it's way beyond my skill level! Great for learning, though. Hope this old Yank has as much fun on this Brit forum as I do on the World Naval Ships Forum! Regards to all,
  3. Hi, Andy, yes I found this via Phil Reeder from his Ashanti/Torbay post in the modelling thread on the Ships Forum. Hope us Yanks can join in here, as it looks to be great fun and very instructive. I am going to post my Missouri and King George V pictures here in another post, now that I have the ones I want in Photobucket. Different way of posting here, but I can see the rationale behind it. Look forward to your Hood. Regards,
  4. Thanks for the tip, Mish. Looks like I'll have to get busy with PhotoBucket or something similar. I might have to do that a bit later, as the wife has me scheduled to attend a wedding, which means this day is probably shot! as far as my own time goes!
  5. I'm brand new to this forum. Found it following Phil Reeders post on the World Naval Ships Forum of HMS Ashanti and Torbay. His ship's wake builds were fascinating due to their accuracy, which is just plain hard to do. I love building plastic model ships, would like to try a resin kit if I ever get rich enough to buy one that I would like building. I have built Tamiya's 1/350 USS Missouri and HMS King George V as a set representing when they operated together in the Pacific in WWII, bombarding the coast of Japan. The King George V was built first, and like all new trys at a detailed model, I would like to take some things back and do them over, particularly the sprue-derived rigging. I am much happier with the USS Missouri, whose rigging is fake hair from a Halloween mask (I know, five expert modellers just fell on the floor laughing!). It actually looks more realistic than anything else I've tried. Brass details kits used to some extent on the KG V and a lot on the Missouri. I will post photos of the models as soon as someone explains how to use the URL method of getting photos on the site. I am used to just browsing and selecting like on the Ships Forum. Help? In the meantime, I am enjoying wandering about looking at finished models. Beautiful works on this site! Regards, Don Boyer
