  1. Not going to defend the boxing, but will attempt to explain it. Having lived a few years in Germany, I came to understand that the Germans don't just play at recycling, it's for real. I remember doing the weekly shop in the supermarket (and the Germans tended not to do weekly shops, more 2-3 days worth and the shopping trolleys were much smaller than we'd been used to; we always needed two....but, I digress.... ), and some shoppers would, for example, leave the outer packaging of the cereal box at the store, so they didn't have to worry about recycling that bit.

What Revell have had to do is produce their packaging to be as recyclable as possible, for their domestic market, and that, colleagues, is why they persist with the box, end-opening, Mk 1, for the use of. Me, I just use an old box to keep the bits in when I build Revell; flexibility is the key to air power. Or is it reach.....?

    That is all

germans go crazy for recycling and deposits on bottles etc. can be a nightmare when like 10 diff coloured bins etc. i always got confused

i agree, the boxes are crap, but i dont think this is down to recyling issue.

  2. Some great builds there, superb work. Love the paint scheme on this.

    All the best,

    Dan.

Ta Dan. doing little bits when im not high on meds or bent over backwards with back ache.

car should be sorted on Wed, so i can get your package weighed.

  3. Made one, the grey one and really enjoyed it, so dug out 2 more from the stash.

grey one has metal front bumber added and resin cab cover but tried to make all 5 different, imade the rear cover myself, i think it should have been a little futher down the sides..

  4. Well, let's take a look at the trailer; the front and rear wheels are steerable from the rear cab. The trailer bed is lowered then the rear bogie detached in order to load a tank. Why not just have rear ramps like the Diamond T's Rogers Trailer? IMO over complicated and over-engineered.

As for the Famo itself, why use a complicated half track, when a simple ballasted tractor truck would do the same task?

Just my own opinions of course :)

good points. i have some fotos of the rear trailer carrying a damn huge electrical generator, trying to squeeze through a factory gate, only just managed it.

can see your points, but then the germans seemed to over engineer most things, cost wise and reliability wise

  5. cool pics ta. gives me a good idea of the lenth of the bar between them.

i have done all 3 slightly different, one has a large metal bumper, and half cover added at the rear (grey), one camo and open with full rea of bits n bobs, and a third, slightly differrent camo with a canvas cover with added foilage(although i dont think it looks right for some reason).

i guessed the turret would be reversed.

the middle FAMO has broken down itself, with drivechain problems and the removal of the main drive sprocket wheel. i have a FAMO book but doesnt show the detail i want,so will have to keep a look out in the future.

had these kits for years (no idea why, never was bothered about building them) but i did one, and liked it so much i did 2 more lol (still got one left hehe). i know how complex the trumpeter ones are, but would like a go in the near future, and with the tank trailer

i couldnt get the tracks to fit on each kit, was always a couple short, even when i checked fotos to get the spacing as it goes around the wheels, hence the broken down one has some track sections removed (uesd on the other 2).

  6. From what I remember, when I thought about doing this in 1/35 the Famo's and the tank were joined by tow bars. As for the tank, usually the tracks would be left on to prevent damage to the road wheel tyres. However, the tracks were shortened so that they did not go round the drive wheel, but just round the road wheels and idler.

    Steve

ah, that makes sense about the tracks. ta

  7. HI.

built 3 FAMO, as i want a little vinigerette of them pulling a tank, i cant find any real fotos. maybe they used a long rod on each?

Also if they were pulling a tank back from the front that needed repairs, would they remove the tank tracks so it ran on the wheels or leave the tracks on?

    thanks

  8. SiG 33 ammo comes as short brass cases, short fabric charge bags and separate heads with fuses. I think they often carried the heads around in long wicker tubes, hope that helps :)

thats great ta, its only 72nd so want to get close, i have some metal and resin german ones, some in cases etc but didnt want to totally use the wrong type lol

  9. Might this be served better by being placed in the armour modelling section instead of the Aircraft modelling section?

    thanks

    Mike

oops, i just saw the word military...

i always just click new posts, i never just look in certain sections.

  10. Im doing this

    72021.jpg

i cant find any info on the ammo rounds it used, but i want to do it towed by a half track, so i guess the ammo rounds, if the only image i can find, shows them in long tubes each.is this correct?

also, the kit is basic and having built it, something isnt right, how it connects to the truck, google doesnt really help :-/ has anyone got any drawings orknow awebsite that would help?

    thanks

  11. Think you'll find a new tool will never be done, certainly not in near future, just doesn't make business sense when there is another already available, different manufacturer or not :(

Airfix boxed set would be pretty impressive if they could lease the moulds off Revell :)

    mmmmm not sure

airfix's latest FRS1 is poor compared to the esci, but they did it, mig 15 is very crap compared to the others, inc hobbyboss, hawks, spits etc etc.....

i have the mbox one, its pretty poor for this century quality, and im sure a brand new tooled one would do well...
