  1. This is my follow-up to the brown splinter scheme Bad Guy Hornet I finished last month. I just had to build the other scheme that was inlcuded in the kit decals. Here's where I stand:
  2. Yeah, I'm not sure what happened, but Photobucket made all my nice straight lines all wobbly. Gonna have to look at that and see what went wrong. The originals are fine . . .
  3. OOB with kit decals. Tamiya red, Alclad Aluminium paints.
  4. Hasegawa 1:48 OOB, including decals Tamiya colors on top Model Master grays on bottom
  5. Here's what it is supposed to look like according to the kit box top:
  6. Okay, almost finished. This will be the last update before the final reveal. Gear/gear doors on, arresting hook attached, and the weathering is done (for the most part). I'll give it another once-around or two, add the last little fiddly bits, shoot the flat finish and call her done!
  7. Landing gear installed (doors and wheels also finished waiting to be attached). Decals on and sealed with a gloss coat. Getting close to finish with this one!!!! Stuff that will be 99% hidden from view: Now the good stuff:
  8. Getting ready for the glosscoat tomorrow, then on to decals and weathering!
  9. The tape finally comes off! Whew! Got a few touch-ups to take care of, but overall I am pleased with the progress. Lookin' like an Adversary now!
  10. More construction progress on my Top Gun Adversary build. We have primer applied and now some preshading.
  11. Here's two day's worth of progress toward my Top Gun Hornet:
  12. love the checkered-nosed Viper . . . in lime green, no less! Nice job Mish!
  13. Figured I'd start of the New Year with a first for me -- a plane with a spinner! Been working on this one all week of vacation and was able to put the finishing touches on it on January 1, 2011. This build is strictly OOB (including decals). The satin clear coat is still drying as the pics are being taken. On to the final pics:
  14. This is the old Monogram kit with the AMS resin cockpit, nose and LEX installed, with TwoBobs decals.
  15. Well, I'm calling this one done. It's been on the bench far too long and is sucking the modeling mojo right out of me. This was my first Hasegawa Tomcat build and all I can say is my esteem for those who complete one of these in good form has skyrocketed. This one was the most challenging build for me to date. I was very tempted to "launch" it off the workbench more than once, but persevered and have now have a Tomcat for my display case. Believe me it is fraught with shortcomings (that's not false humilty seeking a complement . . . it's just a fact), but it looks like a Tomcat and that beautiful gloss gray over white scheme distracts from all the goofs I made. Oh well, on to the pics:
  16. I'm getting close to done on this one. Still have some touch ups/repaints, add missiles, wash, weather and final coat. Here is where I stand at the moment:
  17. Mine covered with no problems at all. Can't wait to see the Crusader's bug!
  18. Kit manufacture: Hasegawa PT110 Scale: 1/48 Type: F/A-18C Hornet Extras used: Flying Leathernecks decals (FL48022); Shull resin GBU-38, LGB and Lightening pod robbed from Tamiya F-16 kit, Afterburner decals for bombs/pods, AIM-9 and AIM-120 from spares box Paints and colours used: Model Master enamels (camo), Tamiya acrylic and Alclads Other info: Full build is HERE Here are the "Glamour shots" of my latest completion. This is my first ever build of a Baby Bug in 1:48 scale. I knew I had to build it once I saw the VMFA-122 decals from Flying Leathernecks. There is another hi-viz scheme for VMFA-122 carrying the "Crusaders" markings that might just have to be built as well. Anyway, on to the pics:
  19. Gettin' my Baby Bug all loaded up. Ladder attached, LGB and GBU on station, Lightening Pod hung, and canopies unmasked . . still have to attach the AIM-9 and AIM-120 and then we should be done. The GBU-38 is from Shawn Hull and looked good all painted up. The LGB, I had to "rough up" myself using some Tamiya Thin and a stiff brush to produce the texture on the bomb body. For the first time, I was pleased with the results.
  20. The end is in sight . . . at least for this build, anyway:
  21. little update with the landing gear attached and paint work on the exhaust/burner cans begun. Working on a lot of fiddly bits now . . . should be coming together real soon.
  22. once I had the Flying Leatherneck decals on I couldn't resist posting some WIP pics of my latest: And here is the REAL deal:
  23. That's one Phantastic Phantom. I, too, would be interested in hearing how you produced such a realistic weathering job on that bird.
  24. Since I'm a newbie here, some of you haven't seen some of my recent builds. Apologies to those who have. Here's one of my favorites from this past year: HobbyBoss 1:48 A-10C built OOB with the addition of TwoBobs decals "Shark Bait".
