The best way of looking at this was that the Harrier was built for the RAF in four batches: Batch One: was built has GR5's with the 65% LERX and had a ZD??? serial number. Batch Two: Was built has GR5A with the 65% LERX and has a ZD??? serial number and Also had the wiring for the FLIR added. Batch Three: was built has GR7's with the 100% LERX and "Frog Eyes" and has a ZG??? serial number. Batch Four: Were all the T10, T12 and T12A with the 65% LERX and had the ZH??? serial number. When the aircraft went through the JUMP at Cottesmore the "Frog Eyes" were added to the wing has the original holes for the fire lance were covered up, these leading edge holes were not on the batch three jets due to to the 100% LERX. The Batch three jet were the first to go through JUMP and came out with a "GR9" sticker on the tail and ZG477 (which is at Cosford) was the first jet to be painted in th MSG scheme and was originally issued to No.800 NAS. The GR7As were to be the last Harriers to go through to be upgraded to GR9 before the Labour government chopped the project. and well......................... say no more

There's a rumour going about that when No.12 Squadron disbands with the dambusters next April they have been earmarked to be the third Typhoon FGR4 Squadron to move into Lossiemouth with No.1 and 6 Squadrons.

I was on the last public visit to Wattisham just a week before No.74 (F) Squadron disbanded at that FGR2 was sitting oustside on of the Squadron's HAS's. I was told it would have been the flying display scheme if the top brass hadn't said NO! the FGR2 in question was a ex-92 Squadron jet which had been pulled off the dump and painted up.

The latest news to come out of SA is that all the Grippens are being put back into the air Keeping No.2 Squadron fully operational. The spare aicraft are being used to amke sure that the Squadron has about 14 aircraft on the pan for the pilots to use while the others are in maintiance.

Just check Squadron Prints website and they only have a couple of designs for FAA patches

The No.41 squadron Tonkas was flight testing them back in february 2006 has their crews were talking to the F3 ones. The Harrier would have been working with the missile on 2011 if the hadn't taken them out of service.

Your a bit late with the RCAF - they're looking at the F/A-18E/F, Typhoon FGR4 and the JAS-39NG instead of the CF-35A The Tiffies start moving at the end of September this year when the Army move into Leuchars around the 24th. I wonder what the Squadron's marking are going to look like - other than GREY

The Nightmares will end in July 2013 - VMA-513 - Decommissions
Harrierpilot replied to ChocksAway's topic in Real Aviation
The plans are for the VMA-513 to become the VFMA-513 and become the first AV-8B unit to convert onto the F-35B at MCAS Yuma in late 2013/ early 2014. -
I need some help with a model of a Harrier GR3. A friend has asked me if i could build the Airfix Harrier GR3 and finish the kit in the marking of either the Belize Flight or No,3 (F) Squadron. is there any aftermarket decal sheets with either of the units in question??
-
Got my own 1/48th kit of the beast - it's a shame that you can only build it in the "dirty" mode with the tailpipe down and the doors open. I would have liked to have it in a take off setting or gear up as in flight. Also, WHAT WING TANKS ARE THEY GOING TO USE????????????

Am I seeing things: Late Tornado F3 underfuselage oddity?
Harrierpilot replied to David Womby's topic in Aircraft Modern
It's a Light Aircraft Grey flare pack on a Medium Sea Grey jet. -
Vingtor does a 1/72nd and 1/48th scale sheet with the Harrier test markings on, but ZD318 (which is on it) is a GR5 in the primer colours.
-
Yes it's the same colour scheme as ZD318 and 319 but I don't know about the "9" logo.

I have just read a report on the BBC website that the Austrialian s have ordered twelve new Boeing EA-18Gs with all the gear. The codes could be A44-225 to 236 unless they (the RAAF) gives them a new A? number.
