When the RAF harriers were built the aircraft with the "ZD" serials wewre fitted with the 65% LERX and the "ZG" serialed aircraft were fitted with the 100% LERX from new, there was no up-grade up to the 100% LERX for the Batch 3 jets. By the look of the photo I waould say that it was taken about the time that the RAF Harriers where flying Op "Warden", the no-fly zone in the north of Iraq after Gulf War 1 whn all the jets assigned to the operation where fitted with the smaller 65% LERX. it was proposed to fit the 100% LERX to the "ZD" jet in the JUMP program by this was cancelled to cut costs.

I'm looking at my 1/48th scale of ZD404/33A "Lucy" and she's fitted with a pair of tanks on P2 and P7 with Paveway III on P3 and P5 a pair of BOL rails in the sub-pylons and a TIALD on the Port fuselage sation. the remaining 2 pylons are empty has is the centreline one. -
I am currntly building a Harrier GR9 and have managed to leave a "glued" thumb print on the clear part of the canopy. What the best way in restoring the canopy....other words... to get rid on the print.

What scale please.?? The CRV- and the DJRP are both in the Airfix in 1/72nd scale and I modified the pods off a Apache AH1 in 1/48th scale.

The pilots (one ETPS student and one ETPS Instructor) both had injuries related to ejecting from the aircraft. The instructor would have gone back to the EPTS but the pilot would have "failed" the course and would have returned to his normal Squadron duties in the air force that sent him to the ETPS. The student was already a trained pilot and not a trainee pilot he would have done several 1,000hrs in flying frontline fast jet within his own country's armed forces.

Harrierpilot replied to Davidf66's topic in Aircraft Modern
Good luck with your search. I have only found crew figures with the masks and visor in place. (PS: You may need a 1/72nd figure for Maverick ) -
Shaun. I'll ping you a PM if you have any DJRP's left.

The work by Boeing for the Blue Angels F/A-18E Super Bugs started on the 1st August and the Team should be getting the first of the "new" jets about Christmas.

Harrierpilot replied to Boman's topic in Aircraft Modern
When I last saw it, about two weeks before thery got the chop, she was Med Sea Grey and on No.1 (F) Squadron with Flt Lt Emm Rickhard under the starboard side of the canopy screen. -
What looks like Tip tanks are in fact missile rails for when the jets on No.IV ® Squadron/4FTS fly with the Raids pod and the dummy sidewinder/ASRAAM.

Not all the FAA's HM1 Merlins were upgraded to HM2 standard and the "spare" airframes are being converted to AEW5 with the Crowsnest radar system being a permanent fit on the aircraft replacing the Sea King on No.849 NAS.

My information is that the CPU-123 was a UK licenced made PW II kit for the RAF 1,000lb bomb C.1982 and was used by the GR3's in a little scrap we had in the South Atlantic The "E" was for enhanced for the fitting of the GPS receivers,

I have had a look at some image taken just after the Ladies had visited No.IV (AC) Squadron in the "Sandpit" and the lay out for ZD404/33A "LUCY" was: Pylons 1 & 9 - Empty. Pylons 2 & 8 - drop tanks. Pylons 3 & 7 - ECPU-123 LGB's (UK 1,000lb bomb) Pylon 4 - TIALD pod. Pylon 5 - Empty (Centreline) Pylon 6 - Strake. Has for ZD437/43A "Michelle" her bombs were either ground or air burst 540lbs weapons. Harriers never carried 1,000 lb bombs on pylons 1 or 9.

I have checked a image taken of No.IV (AC) Squadron of the two Harriers taken just after the girls had visited the "Sandpit" showing the makings. The up-load for ZD404/33A "Lucy" is tanks on pylons 2 and 8 and British ECPU-123 LGB's on 3 and 7 leaving 1 and 9 empty, a TIALD pod on 4 with 5 (the centreline) pylon also empty and a strake on 6. If your wondering about the pylon numbers they run from port to starboard has 1, 2, 1a, 3 4, 5, 6, (fuselage) 7, 9a, 8 and 9. 1a and 9a are the sidewinder pylons. The set up in the photo is after ZD404 had the "EB" upgrade to the software which made the aircraft "think" that it was carrying the TIALD pod when it was fitted with the Sniper pod.
