  1. This is such a damning article. https://www.npr.org/2019/05/06/720553748/boeing-knew-about-737-max-sensor-problem-before-plane-crash-in-indonesia How can such quality issues happen under same executives? Boeing had issues with 787 as well. So this is a question mark on their quality and reliability. But knowing Boeing, their long arms and their deep pockets, the will get through such sloppy stuff.
  2. Wingnut has produced some beautiful WW1 kits and I m really tempted to build one. However, rigging seems very daunting to me and this challenge keeps me away. But I m going to take up this challenge soon.
  3. I have built one kit after another in last few years with too much work to do to fix little details. It does make our hobby exciting and at times meandering to boredom, for there seems to be no end in sight when I will see my effort displayed on the shelf Not being lazy or bored at it, but is there any after market resin available to fix the cockpit & intake inaccuracies of this kit?
  4. Truly inspiring build. I bought this kit for its unique chiseled nose. Then I found out about its issues mentioned in reviews so I thought of selling this kit. Now following this build, I m thinking of building it.
  5. Its end of the line for Boeing 737. Its easy to criticize flight crew after crash but it has been found that the aircraft is difficult to operate. Too much compromise in 737 MAX to make old infrastructure in the aircraft design to support modern engines and avionics. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/08/business/boeing-737-max-.html
  6. I m trying figure painting these days and discovered its an altogether different genre! I will be watching the very closely as I want to learn techniques of realistic figure painting.
  7. Reading through the articles on this issue, it seems Boeing wanted to hasten this plane into market. Boeing is a large corporation and has influence with regulators and government. So it did not fully test new systems and forced FAA to give it favorable ratings. The manuals from Boeing it seems did not fully explain the features and pilots were not fully aware of these new features. Its unfortunate but when a corporation's profits become bigger than many developing countries budget, its overwhelming influence invariably breeds corruption. A lot of issues came through in development of 787 as well. The most dangerous one was its lithium batteries overheating to a dangerous level.
  8. While I had been busy in modelling my Wessex, I had been re-modelling my work space alongside and the results are here.
  9. I have built single seat Revel Eurofighter. Its a challenging kit to build. The intake is too much work to get the parts fit properly and align. The wing join to the bottom of fuselage is another challenge. If you plan to build the kit with decals supplied in the kit, they are typical Revell decals - too thick and out of register. Then there are errors, usual in Revell kits, in instruction steps which is another to challenge to take care of. I built the kit over couple of years on and off. It was exhausting. So much that I sold the two seat version which I planned to build. Nonetheless, it builds into a nice kit if you like building kits which are not straight forward.
  10. Been slow over the holidays. Started adding smaller details to the port side of the fuselage Some more small details like grab handles and photoetch parts around the fuselage. Looking at the pictures for reference, this pipe like thing is a bit short. As far as I have observed, this part should end up at the front where it currently is. So I will need some Evergreen plastic rod ti fill this gap. Some more details added where they shouldnt be missing.
  11. Hi Ian, whats the color you have used for the cockpit? The instructions suggest aircraft grey but the pictures of interior show the grey with bluish hue.
  12. I think I should get it as it has other decals that look like are common across Wessex versions. Thanks
  13. Hendie, It should be this one. https://www.hobbyeasy.com/en/data/2tdgsv7iabwmuryccnlm.html Its still available. Please let me know if this decal sheet has stencils. It has the DANGER sign there. If it has stencils, I will buy it. The more I look at the decals in the kit, the more suspect I become of their accuracy. I m planning a camouflaged HU5 based in Cyprus.
  14. I agree @hendie Even the color of RAF roundels look wrong to me.
  15. That DANGER decal looks too big. Does anyone know which decal sheet might have the correct sign decals? Or if you have them in spares and are willing to give away.
  16. I have been working on this project and the progress has been slow. As you can understand, adding these little details is time consuming. The eyelet hooks on rotor head started their life as small shavings from thin plastic sheet. The hole was drilled with a 0.3 mm drill bit. The missing pins on the rotors were made using thin Evergreen plastic rod. This is not the end for the rotor head and rotor blades. Looking at A+ book as reference, it looks like there are more details that I plan to add. Some more details on the fuselage. Details on the struts with brake lining and mounting bolts. Some details are too minute to be in focus. After filling, the side under the windscreen looking much better. Still some work needed.
  17. Perhaps Kitty Hawk can also improve their standards. Do the research properly. And don't rush their release. For the price they demand, modellers don't expect glaring omissions and lazy mistakes.
  18. If this is true, its a great development and I will anxiously look forward to build two or three of these jets.
  19. These are the colors I have used. Still in progress. Waiting for some parts.
  20. I have started to fill those huge, almost embarrassing gaps for a modern day kit. Eduard sets for this kit add some nice details but dont know what exactly they measured when they designed those details. They are invariably over sized. So need a filler there too! As if the kit itself was not enough to deal with, the aftermarket details too are adding to the time and effort on this project. In ways it is satisfying as well as this build has honed my skills and thinking of how to deal with these challenges is exciting at the same time.
  21. Back to this build after a long time. I had built the inner frame of the cockpit as its very visible in the real helicopter. So in order to pain it, windows from inside have to be masked. In order to do that, I drew out the outline of the frame from outside so that while masking I could see where the frame is. Then the glazing is masked from inside After this, details are added inside the canopy for final assembly. Some details are scratch built like the fire extinguisher and that lever on the right side of the overhead control panel. I keep coming back to this build and at the same time feel like throwing this kit in the trash. It has been a tough one to build and that is why it is taking me so long to complete it. Just one example of this frustration is alignment of cockpit glazing with the body. The window frames converge in as the two halves of fuselage are aligned to rear bulkhead. When its time to put the glazing on, it is wider than the fuselage. So if its aligned at one side, its off at the other. The same issue is at front bottom of the part where is a huge gaping hole to fill out. Its things like this one that keeps delaying this build and interest wanes for a long period.
