  1. That to me is the regulator giving up its responsibility. And how would they not? Boeing is an extremely large corporation and its budget is bigger than the GDP of many countries. So naturally it has a lot of influence and say as also its a large defense contractor.
  2. I have read this somewhere too.
  3. Surface detail out of the box is excellent. The parts on the sprues have no flash at all anywhere. This is not an exception, its the case with each and every parts tree. No flash, no sink marks Its a marvel of new plastic molding technology. The most outstanding piece in the kit is its engine hood, the engine covers with super detailed cooling vanes and the front see through grille. If you buy any of the Dragon Opel trucks and there are several variations like Maultier and ambulance, you will not be disappointed.
  4. Reconstructive surgery of the radar dish. It was broken in the package with its parts strewn in small pieces. So I cut a sliver from plastic card and bonded it to the bottom of the radar. Then filled it with glue and used Dremel tool to smooth over.
  5. The flak and its platform comes in the kit. Its a beautiful kit. First time built a Dragon kit and I have become a fan.
  6. This is a a Dragon German 3t 4x2 Truck w/2cm FlaK 38 (2 in 1), kit number 6828. Its a beautiful kit rich in details. Some scratch building in the engine compartment. Radio is from a Tamiya kit. Personal equipment is from another Dragon kit. The headphone and microphone is from Royal Model.
  7. I have taken a plunge. Finally bought a WnW kit. WWI is a new genre for me and I always wanted to take this challenge. Rigging and the price kept me away. The kit hasnt arrived yet but I have not heard anything bad about their kits. Its a Hannover with relatively easy rigging. Lets see how it goes together for me.
  8. Yes! Reading through this topic here, I wondered if I could write a short article but my photography will need to improve.
  9. I was reading a story in The Telegraph. A British newspaper with a lot of pedigree. I never expected it. But there were so many typing and grammatical mistakes that I couldnt but type an email to the editor mentioning those mistakes. The editor did respond apologizing and promising to scrutinize proof reading methods. The mistakes were the types non English speaking would make not a British newspaper. Your point about outsourcing reminded of this.
  10. Do the contributors get paid for their submissions in these magazines?
  11. Once or twice, I did try online copies of these magazines. I must say I did not enjoy the experience at all. Its so much better to have a paper copy in hand. There is no alternative to a physical copy.
  12. I just wonder how these magazines make money? I go to a bookstore and I see so many of these modeling magazines. Some of the work published in those magazines have actually inspired me. Most of the time however, I get my inspiration or the info I need from this board or the other I follow.
  13. Which airbrushes would you recommend with 0.18 or 0.2mm nozzle?
  14. Very impressive. I have one in the stash and have planned it with VE stripes. Your build will be my inspiration and guide
  15. Tamiya kits are beautiful no doubt. Their packaging, artwork and their instructions are simple to follow, in very good sequence and beautifully produced. The paper on which the instructions are printed is top quality. The surface detail is sharp and many times, I have honestly kept staring at the quality of their plastic, the surface detail and total lack of flash even on the minutest of parts. But as we progress in model making and new offers appear online or on shelves, depending on your buying preference, we tend to detail up the kits. I know its a very subjective and at times a touchy subject. The discussion on how much a kit should have detail is a discussion which leads nowhere. But Tamiya kits to me seem to be stuck in 90s especially their 1/35 armour and 1/48 aircraft kits. A lot of surface and kit details and details on parts or their breakdown are not up to the detail many other new entrants in the market have been able to reproduce. For example, just compare Tamiya Opel truck to Dragon's Opel truck in 1/35 scale. You will know what I mean. Dragon offering is much superior.
  16. In an issue which might still be related to concerns on quality and regulation expressed by members here, Boeing 787, which has myriad of issues of its own, has lingering problems with its engines as well. https://australianaviation.com.au/2019/04/air-new-zealands-787-9-rolls-royce-engines-dogged-by-problems/
  17. What if they do next to nothing on upgrades and just re-brand it? With Boeing having such resources at its disposal, it can convince buyers to buy this jet with a new name. It was same regulators who gave Boeing go ahead to sell this flawed plane with a very lenient scrutiny. However, I m wondering how we as passengers should safeguard our rights in the age of corporate sharks getting ever more strong. Even after upgrades, if I m given a choice, I will refuse flying in -8xx or MAX.
  18. I have lost trust in this plane. I believe many will share this sentiment. Boeing has gone really cheap in trying to cut costs and maximize profits as all these greedy corporations do. https://www.theonlinecitizen.com/2019/06/29/software-used-in-737-max-crashes-linked-to-indian-software-companies/
  19. I hope they do it right. KH has the the habit of cutting corners and hasten the sale leaving kit with some lazy mistakes while demanding a high price and having the modellers exasperated over those sloppy mistakes.
  20. Wondering how these Chinese companies do their product development so quickly. Before, we would wait forever for Tamiya to release a new kit and Hasegawa to repack their kits with new decals.
  21. Extremely well done. Bravo!! I have a very beaten down scheme in mind for a Middle East air force Su-22. This inspires me further to build that one.
