  1. Did Hasegawa ever introduce a brand new kit in the last 2 decades? They always do their old kits with new box art and new decals. I have not seen any new kit from them for ages.
  2. I was looking at some Qatari Sea Kings the other day. What I found different about their sponsons is that they seem to have parts from HC4 fixed on top of them. The flat button like thing which has inverted warning triangle, I have seen it at the ends of stub wings on HC4s. What is it? What purpose does it serve? The sponson is also different as it does not seem to have a folded fabric like material along the lower edge of the sponson. Will much appreciate if some expert could help explain this.
  3. This Sea King looks very nice. With a Royal Navy banner and red and grey livery. https://www.aerialvisuals.ca/AirframePhotoViewer.php?Serial=135593
  4. Norwegian looks cool. Although will need some aftermarket to make it. Whirlybird set seems discontinued for Norwegian conversion.
  5. The interior in this kit is a model in itself. Its a little sad to see that almost all of it is obscured in the finished fuselage.
  6. I repeat. Hasegawa kit doesn't have rivet details. 🙂 Those rivets you see on the link must be created by the modeller. You can see for yourself here on this link. https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10098638/40/1
  7. No rivets and very sketchy surface detail in Hasegawa kit. No interior either. The AEW kit is not accurate as it's a Sikorsky's SH3 with British AEW inflatable radome. I had this kit but sold it because of lack of above details. The price with such lack of detail is very high for Hasegawa kit almost comparable to Airfix, shipping included.
  8. Airfix kit it seems to be a very good base kit for future aftermarket releases. Parts for changes required to make accurate versions from the decals can be made by aftermarket brands in future. Not necessarily new iteration of the current kit.
  9. Belcher Bits is a Canadian company thart does conversion for Hasegawa kit. http://www.belcherbits.com/lines/148conv/bb1.htm They also have decals for all Canadian Sea King markings.
  10. Hasegawa is a good kit but no interior. For that, you have to shell out extra money or extra hours to scratch build. Whereas price of the kit is almost the same as that of Airfix. Airfix is a good starting point for even a conversion with great surface detail and full interior included in the box. Thats what I think.
  11. Just look at a list of Xtradecals Future Releases for Sea King on Hannants website! https://www.hannants.co.uk/search/index.php?keyword_search=sea+king&setPerPage=25&product_type_id=2677&scale_id=955&search_direction=asc&pageID=4
  12. If thats the case, I might consider this Canadian camo https://skiesmag.com/press-releases/canadian-armed-forces-honor-the-long-serving-ch-124-sea-king-helicopter/
  13. The question will be if it can built as a RCN example. RCN is a Sikorsky not Westland Sea King. Hands down, its a much better kit than Hasegawa and is a great value for money.
  14. Looking at the breakdown of parts, it seems there will be more versions. So I will wait but definitely want to build one. I was interested in Airfix Lynx. But I dont know how good its fit and detail is. This Sea King looks qualitatively better.
  15. This looks like a very nice Sea King kit. It has great detail. Compared to Hasegawa, which is perhaps the only other option in 1/48. Although this kit is expensive after including shipping, its price is about the same as Hasegawa kit. Hasegawa kit is almost 30 years old, with no interior and non-existent surface detail.
  16. Great stuff. While scrolling down the post, I was thinking that may be you will dab Mr. Surfacer 500 around the edges to represent the rough, hairy edges. Still great research and innovative building nonetheless.
  17. After recently finishing Italeri Wessex, it will be very refreshing to see an accurate, well detailed Wessex out of the box. Italeri got many things wrong in their kit, including detail, decals and even the name. I will wait anxiously. I have never bought Airfix kit after my school years when their kits came in plastic bag with a folded paper doubling as instruction sheet, stapled on the bag with a painted photo of the kit. Looking at this kit, it seems they have improved their quality a lot. Those kits I bought were in 1/72 scale and very basic by today's standards.
  18. Are these Airfix kits still made in UK? When I started my hobby and I was school going kid, I used to buy Airfix kits and they were made in UK then.
  19. Tamiya P-47D Thunderbolt in 1/48 scale. I have used Thunder Cal decals 48006 sheet.
  20. I don't think they could. But Phantom looks awesome to me in this weapons configuration.
  21. Engine door at the wrong place. This was remarked in red using Eduard photo etch set's part. The position was determined in relation to the winch. The correct position of the door And there's lot more which cant be seen now on build thread unfortunately and I dont want to upload all the images here.
  22. Since Photobucket stopped hosting images, many photos on the build thread have disappeared. I just wanted to show the amount of work done to build and detail the interior. The bench seats The bench frames were built using Evergreen rods. The seat is made from aluminum tape. As you can see kit supplied part, its sold plastic with wrong details. Some interior details Example of fixing the details on the kit Cockpit details - built the inner structure of the glass frame
  23. Tamiya's superb F-4B kit. Fit, quality of packaging, surface detail and overall presentation is all what we have come to expect from Tamiya. I have used the following accessories Eduard Triple Ejection Rack 648232 Eduard Multiple Ejection Rack 648227 Hasegawa Weapons Set A for Mk 82 bombs Furball Aero 48-076 decals True Details helmets The model was painted with Gunze Mr Hobby H315 and H316.
