  1. I've been a long time ghost on the forums, just to get inspiration from the piles of brilliant work on here, but I've only ever posted a few times for advice. However, I feel I've finally done something of merit worth sharing on here! It's the 1/72 Revell Marder 1 A3, been working on it for quite a while on and off whenever I'm back home from Uni. It's my first proper attempt at some weathering, just through drybrushing, but I think it works wonders for a realistic effect. It's also the first time I've used milliput in making the pack rolls on the on the sides and front. Thinking I'm probably gonna do this a lot more on future models as it's proved a really simple way to add a lot of character to a model, and a lot easier than the Games Workshop Green Stuff I used to use. Any feedback would be great!
  2. Great refferences Spike, cheers! Its all underway now, about time its been sitting on my shelf gathering dust past two weeks Cheers, Dan
  3. cheers guys, prompt replies think I'm probably looking at the humbrol 250 cause its immediately available, which always helps, wanna get down to it after I've had it sitting on my desk for a week, finnish it before I head of to The 'Dam next weekend, gonna be awesome And cheers for the bleaching tip Jabba, hadn't thought of that. May post back up here with shots of the finnished article, wish us luck! Cheers, Dan
  4. Hey, I've been admiring this forum from a state of anonymity for quite a while now, there's some great stuff on here, plenty of inspiration for an inexperienced young fool like me, a lot of the awesomeness way out of my reach at the moment though I'm relatively new to the aircraft modeling scene, I mean I've been painting kits for a while now but mostly stuff like gamesworkshop. I've currently got an F-16, Eurofighter, AH1-W Cobra, Spitfire, Hurricane, F-22 Raptor, Harrier and SU-25, all hanging from my roof in 1/72, no shelf space for tackle out I do need some help with my latest project though, hence breaking my silent observing and getting an account on here. I'm in the middle of building the Revell 1/72 Panavia Tornado GR.1 and want to paint it in Operation Desert Storm colours, but I'm unsure what paints I need. I've looked over the interwebs and found various sources that tell me to either use the Xtracolour desert pink colour or Humbrol 250 Desert Pink, but I'm not sure which one to go for as I've heard bad things about painting with xtracolour (I don't have an airbrush). I also only really like working with matt colours, used humbrol satins before and they were a right pain, fluff and bits just seemed to get magnetised to it So the nub of the matter, should I go out and buy the matt 250 humbrol one, or something completely different? If anyone can give me some kind of painting guide for a DS Tornado I'd be impossibly grateful! Cheers, Danwise
