  1. I think there's a fine balance to be struck and I think the manufacturers will be looking at this. There's a European manufacturer who allegedly can't afford to bring their product to Europe because of the shipping cost so we won't see their kits for now. If shipping outweighs manufacturing then it'll be cheaper to make things closer to home. I know from experience that so called "cheap labour" from overseas isn't so cheap any more, so that will probably be a factor too. I think Eduard mould their own kits, to a high standard too, so if they can do it why can't others?
  2. I think that may be a bit unfair. The cost of shipping alone is very volatile at the moment. I read of a manufacturer who allegedly can't release a kit because of the stupid costs for shipping. If it's too expensive, don't buy it, then they don't make a profit.
  3. O class battlecruiser is interesting as is the Weser. Nice to see, as is the 1/32 Devastator.
  4. Corsairs look great. Shame the AN-12 isn't 1/72.
  5. I just went through the instructions on their site and I'm not sure. They only seem to show "optional" etched flaps. If you want raised flaps I can't tell what is needed or what they supply.
  6. €620 for the kit and then €62 for the flaps! I think it's a bit expensive. I wouldn't expect to have to pay extra for the flaps at those prices.
  7. Creo used to be known as Pro-Engineer (Pro-E), excellent piece of Software used by lots of big companies. On a par with Catia. They used to say if you were designing a car you'd use Catia for the surfacing and Pro-E for the engine and gearbox.
  8. I agree it's not hard to do but those rivets look more in keeping with the Titanic than an aircraft. I think it would have been better if they'd just stuck to the lighly recessed ones everywhere. It looks like the heavy ones will need removing and then reinstated afterwards or it'll look odd.
  9. Just over £500 I reckon. If you check my post yesterday at about 18:00 I did a quick breakdown. Hope this helps.
  10. Looked in the accessories section and there are a few Hercules parts in there.
  11. I see what you mean but I don't think so, the semicolon splits the two phrases so I believe it means electric trains etc. and scale models. I reckon a Hornby Flying Scotsman and an Airfix Vulcan are covered by the same code. But that's just my interpretation. I think I might have a go with MBK they quoted me €467 which works out about £410 add on £82 for VAT and £11 for the privilege of the courier to collect means I should get one for a little over £500.
  12. I'd use 9503003000 for "reduced-size (scale) model assembly kits". You can't say it's not one of those, I'm no expert though, and it's subject to zero import tax. You'd probably have to get the seller involved though to make sure they use it.
  13. As I understand it this means for all items below £135 the seller has to charge the UK VAT which means the have to register with HMRC. That's why a number of European dealers refuse to sell into the UK. If it's over £135 they can sell it without charging VAT. This means they don't charge any VAT and it's up to the recipient to pay it. That means if you buy it from Europe you will be charged the tax free price, the carrier then usually pays the relevant duty and VAT and an extra charge for collecting the money. I did this last year with a small shop in Germany as it was the only way to get their products. It still means the MBK price is competitive despite the messing around. As Tiger Hobnies said, get them to use the correct import code and you wont get charged import duty, just the VAT. Hope this helps.
  14. Like the Marine Corps aircraft with the green fuselage and grey wings, didn't know about those schemes. Also like the inclusion of what looks like the red/white prop tips as decals, nice touch if you don't want to mask them.
  15. That depends on who's collecting the VAT and I'd be surprised if it's the model shop. If it's DHL there will also be a cost for them to collect it, £11 minimum charge. VAT is cheaper in Germany too, only 19%, so a slight increase for that too. Still cheap though, if you call over £500 for a kit cheap!
  16. Thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear Danny is ok and the project's still going ahead. Hopefully we'll see the kit in the near future, it looked fantastic.
  17. Yes, I believe for the target tug version, quite different to the OV-10A.
  18. I hope they put the sprues in from the extra parts kit they released for the PR and tanker versions. Or re-release the conversion set.
