  1. Not sure what's involved but happy to give it a go! I've built 90% of the model so far and it is currently at home with one coat of gloss black - there is a pilot in the front seat only (I only fly alone on displays!) and I have tried to recreate the paint scheme of my helmet (badly!). I'm away in Edinburgh for Perth airshow this weekend but in my days off next week I will try to make some progress and post some pics
  2. Thanks mike and sorry for diving in at the deep end! Good luck to anyone building Hawks and we hope to see you at some airshows. If anyone wants us to put pics of their model Hawks on our website or facebook page, we'd be happy to put them up. Send your pics to pilot@rafhawkdisplay.com Happy modelling
  3. Thanks Daz, I'm not trying to rip anyone off - it's all on the official website - www.rafhawkdisplay.com - The Model Alliance guys will validate what we are doing too. I am new to the site and haven't built a model for about 15 years but having just been given an airfix kit of the plane that I fly with special decals of the paint scheme that I designed, I am taking up modelling again! So watch this space because I will shortly be posting pictures of my efforts at building my first kit - could be interesting!
  4. Thanks for the reply Nigel, I posted the thread because I thought it might be of interest to the modelling community. If it doesn't interest you, please dis-regard and I apologise for wasting your time. Kind regards, Tom
  5. Hi guys, You have seen the release of the special edition 2010 Hawk kits from the Aviation Workshop / Model Alliance. They have kindly donated a handfull of kits to the Hawk Display team and the boxes have been signed by the pilot who designed the scheme and flies the aircraft. The kits have also been flown on a training sortie in the luggage compartment of the actual aircraft - XX263. The team have decided to give these kits away by raffling them to raise money for their charities - the RAF Benevolent Fund and the Wales Air Ambulance. We will be giving one kit away every week until they are all gone! It is very simple to enter - Text the word 'HAWK' to 88010. This costs £1 on top of your normal message cost and all proceeds are donated to charity. Winners are notified every monday by telephone. There are several other prizes up for grabs every week including a limited edition print celebrating 50 Years of 4FTS at RAF Valley and a VIP visit to Valley where you will get to have a go in the Hawk simulator. So it couldn't be simpler - 1 text message, £1 and all for a good cause! More details here: Hawk Website Text HAWK to 88010!
