  1. Hope this helps... http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234990425-revell-148-tornado-ids-luftwaffe/ http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234990453-tornado-in-flight-refuelling-probes/
  2. Intakes vary, I am trying to clear this up for my own Luftwaffe Tornado build, dark green or dark grey seem to be the colour. Not camo or white. The edge is in a darker grey, almost black. See pics of grey GR4's as these edges are always the same colour and the current grey scheme shows the contrast better. Once I finish my Luftwaffe Norm 83 (3 tone green) Tornado I am planning a 31squadron RAFG Tornado so I'll help as much as I can as I'm researching it now.
  3. RAFGermany Tornado crews were not AAR current until the gulf war as it was not part of their mission profile. If they went to the US on excercise UK Tornado crews shuttled the aircraft over. Hence very few 9 squadron pics with probes in grey green. Early tanks were 4 fin but 'flew' once dropped and were a hazard so the upper 2 fins were deleted to allow them to fall away better.
  4. Damn... ...was just about cured of 1/72 4 engine stuff, resisted the Shack so far. This makes me want one!
  5. Very very nice model though. Looks real, has that depth that is so very hard to acheive in scale.
  6. Go for the hat-trick. Red crowbar. Drooped flaps and slats on a parked Tornado & Phantom FG1 with extended nose leg & open cockpits. :-)
  7. No. The fin of a Seafire XV and a XVII are the same as a a Spitfire I through XII The rudder had a deeper section to compensate for the lack of area created by the lower section being used as a hook. Yes and No. The Seafire 45 uses the same fin as a XIV XVIII XIX but with a deeper section rudder as above. Yes. The 22/24 fin and rudder are the same in side profile as a 46/47 except for the hook.
  8. Nice, any more pictures of the finished product.
  9. Its the new Trumpter F14, done by the guy who did their 1/72 Lightnings.
  10. Just ordered mine from Wonderland... Was showing coming soon on Saturday, now orderable (is that a word?) so I guess its out!
  11. As Airfix seem to be mining the FAA heritage line a lot how about these, which have RAF siblings there by making the costs workable... 1/48 Phantom FG1 (use the same twin boxing idea as Hasegawa did for an FGR2) 1/48 Buccanneer SB2 (3versions in same box, Ark Royal, RAF Green, Desert Storm) 1/48 New tool Harrier FRS1 (3 versions in same box, Pre/during/post Falklands) RAF subjects... 1/48 New tool Harrier GR 1/3 in same box with a Falkland version 1/48 Jaguar GR1/4 1/48 Spitfire XIV 1/48 Spitfire IX 1/72 Victor (use same idea as Valiant Recce version to make a K2) 1/72 New tool Vulcan (use same idea as Valiant Recce version to make a K2 or MR versions) 1/72 New tool Stirling (maybe with a spin off Sunderland in the pipeline) 1/72 New tool Halifax III (though Revell have kind of cornered the Halifax market at the moment Airfix could still steal a march) I think this is not pie in the sky either... 1/48 Fairey Delta 2 (this is a faint hope) 1/72 Concode (so is this!)
  12. Very very nice. A lot of work to get that result. Bravo Zulu!
  13. Ooohhh. Always liked the 'eastern Lightning'. A Mig21 in NMF is a thing of beauty, very nicely executed.
  14. The Airfix GR1 (if it can be bought cheaply enough) would be worth using to scavenge the weapons and laser finder glass from in conjunction with the Revell IDS kit if you wanted the Hindenburger tanks too. However I am going to get the Revell GR4 and back date it to a GR1 for my planned 31 squadron jet.
  15. Wow. Love the chipping amd weathering. Would have been so easy to over do.
  16. The Tornado was bought by Canada and Australia. The CF- versions of the Tornado were locally built under licence. The Australians had a fuel dump pipe fitted between the engines as 'lighting up' is what an airforce is for. ;-)
  17. My 2p. Revell have brought out a lovely kit. I am planning on building more than 1 of them. As long as Xtradecal and HaHen keep the supply of 'operational' colourschemes then I am happy to have a limited choice in the box. At least this was it costs me £20 for a kit and a further £20 for some very good decals. The alternative is £35 for a kit with some so-so declas and £20 for some very good decals.
