  1. WOW! Beautiful job! You've done the Yak-28 justice - and succeeded with a kit not fit for the weak-nerved or weak-willed Iagree with your opinion - that the Yak twin-jet series is the most "russian-looking" of all Soviet aircraft; with a flavour right out of Flash Gordon I've been looking at my A-models kits of the Yak twin-jet series every once in a while for the last several years - and after seeing tour Yak 28L I feel inspired... I can see a series of Yak-25/26/27/28 coming out of my stash and invading my modelling table later this year... once I finish the odd dozen or so projects on the go right now! Thak you for sharing this little jewel with us here,
  2. C-130 HERCULES NEW TOOL!!! It would tantamount to a license to print money if Airfix would grace us with a new tool Herk to the latest standards... I can see myself buying 8-10 kits (and being put to sleep in our balcony by my companion Karin )... And think of all the variants and dozens of colour schemes - to say nothing of the boxing opportunities! Please (every god, goddess, supreme being and holy spirit ever created by humankind) hear my prayer!
  3. MPM and Italeri working together seemed poised to release a B.2 type Canberra three years ago... Still listed at Hannant's MPM MPM72546 Hope it turns out right!
  4. Beautiful job! Which decal sheet did you use? I used the Aerocalcas sheet - very good but with oversized "Fuerza Aerea" titles Too late now - lazy me! Your WIP on the HAPR Canberra is great! Great modelling skills - great results. Next Canberra (B.62 B-104 Pelicano III) I will be using my own decals; and paying much more attention to pictures of the actual machine.
  5. Beautiful job on a difficult kit!! Thanks for the nose tip
  6. The Airwaves B.2 nose and the Italeri B-57 kit: been there - done that in the early '90. A lot of work with a beautiful result (mine became an Argentine Air Force B.62 and it got me my first "national" IPMS Sweden win). Sorry for the stinky pictures - i'm not much of a photographer A second package is waiting for inspiration - it will become a swedish air force Tp52 (=T.11) I even have a resin nose to it... Next: the original (1973) Airfix Canberra B.6 kit. I actually began this model BEFORE the above Canberra B.62... it got overtaken by events so to speak (!) However I decided to complete it recently XD ... I used an old vacu kit from Aeroclub like this: Besides a new nose I made new engine fronts and forward nacelles since the originals are a bad joke I used the nacelles and modified engine fronts (+aeroclub metal fronts) from the Italeri castoffs. A lot of filler and elbow grease later I felt I had something more like the original 1/1 Canberra. Then - more panelling ensued which led to mode filler that led to more panelling etc. More pictures: After checking the Aeroclub fishbowl I decided to replace it with the Airfix canopy - sanded down to its proper form. The Aeroclub one was too round in profile "baloon-like". Once you have done a new cockpit, new nose, new engine nacelles (forgot to photograph those... grrr ) repanelled the little monster a few times, scrounged for a new forward landing gear (original front wheels NASTY rest could be used... actually modified Italeri's castoff AGAIN stronger and better results) boxed main wheel wells, discovered that the stabilizators DON'T MATCH each other and corrected that (#¤¤%()=?)=?*^"#) ... ...the High Planes is a hell of a lot easier than it seems! That's my next Canberra... at least it has all parts I need and do not need to scrounge in the spares box... Having built some of their kits before I know what to expect - and I expect it to be EASIER than the frankencanberras from Airfix and Italeri+ Airwaves above! Once that is done.... we'll see
  7. I've put my micrometer to both cowlings: they differ by 1 mm. The interesting part really is: size of engine (both plastic and the real thing)
  8. Maybe an Airfix Beaufighter-cowling would do? (Yes, another "wreck" - actually a second hand kit in "historic" boxing which included two left fuselage halves and NO right ones....)
  9. Great info - I completely forgot about the can-shaped cowlings. I have a wreck of an Airfix Halifax; I'm using two of the cowlings for my Bristol Freighter mk.1 - now I know what to do with the two other cowlings!
  10. There's always the possibility of cutting up a C-47 and adapting its engines and cowlings - if you do not want to destroy a new kit search for "wrecks"...
  11. You're most welcome! One of my areas of interest is the Middle East; it began with an interest in the IDF/AF aicraft and history. Now it has expanded to Israel's opposition; lots of cool Russian aircraft with some of the coolest camos ever to grace Russian hardware. A plus is all the interesting history. Actually I should probably mention that I have a degree in political science and international relations; my area of expertise being the conflicts in the post-colonial Middle East and the Cold War influence it those conflicts. You're welcome if you have questions!

  13. Thank you!!! I look forward to reading the article...
  14. Oui, je parle (mauvais) francais! Je le peu lire sans souci... Je aime Le Fana! Merci beaucoup en avant, Moggy
  15. Hi Laurent! Could I get a copy of those articles? Please please PLEASE??
  16. I have a 1/72 Electra TAA decal ark for VH-TLA. I'll gladly exchange it for the High Planes new Dagger kit!
  17. Please please do!!!! Almost all Mirage III kits extant have a REALLY bad defect: the wings are too short (along the wing root) AML's specially bad The only kit I have that has the wing length almost right is the High Planes (the old one - I have not had occasion to check the new one...) This covers all 1/72 Mirage III/V and Kfir Only ones I've not checked are the resin PJ and the NEW IM High Planes Hopefully,
  18. Thanks for the info... I was born in the '60s. My very first TV memory is watching Neil A. walking on the moon!
  19. Thanks for the drawing and info! FAA stands indeed for "Fuerza Aerea Argentina" in the original Spanish
  20. Er... FAA in my text stands for "Fuerza Aerea Argentina" ie. Argentine Air Force! I doubt RN ever had any...
  21. Oh damn!!! I missed that completely.... How's the Airmodel vac nose? I have one since at some point I'll be making a FAA mk.1 with open cargo doors - not something one would like to try wit the HUGELY THICK Magna ones
  22. And here comes the picture: I'm using the Magna Models conversion kit since it includes most of the mods neccessary for a Mk.1 except the cowling/engine... One thing I'm uncertain about is the diameter of the nacelles... Dothey seem too small to you too? XD
  23. @garryrussell - yes indeed the FAA Freighter does have different cowlings: they are not slightly conical like the rest of the Mks have but cylindrical! I'm making mine based on the Beaufighter's. What are your thoughts about that? Some original pictures (1947 vintage) showing the Freighter prototype during a sales tour in Argentina shows that the FAA Mk.1 are more like the prototype than other mks
