I remember a stolen model entered in a competition a long time ago... The idiot in question got the bum's rush together with a heritage of opprobium Cheers, Moggy

A remedy I have use with success is airbrushing the decals with clear varnish. This has worked very well with a number of different decal problems. Cheers, Moggy

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny: June 30th 23
Moggy replied to One 48's topic in Entertainment Central
It looks great! A big serving of Indiana Jones as in the first movie. hopefully the film will be even better ðĪĐ Cheers, Moggy -
Here in Sweden the sirens are tested every month on its first monday at 3 o'clock sharp. It has been done since 1940. The basic code used is, unsurprisingly, "test" Any other combination is "turn up the radio and get the prologue to the end of the world" Bunkers in residential areas are still functional the one assigned to us and my neighbours is 50 m from my door After all this years I still find the noise unsettling Moggy (not cheerful)

Is that beautiful engine part of the kit? ð Cheers, Moggy

Beautiful model, very interesting finish! Can you tell us something about how you went about the metal finish with its interesting weathering? Cheers, Moggy -

I still laugh my head off when watching Monty Python; most of it is still as funny today as it was when new. "Life of Brian" is still the best satire of religion's more absurd features. I hope this comment doesn't get me lapidated by women in fake beards. Absurdistic humor is specially relevant in these times - although sometimes it is indistiguishable from many public figures nowadays. Some of the news today read as satire... However I agree that Mr. C seems to have soured - vintage wine turned into (indigestible) vinegar. Cheers, Moggy

Fantastic build of a seldom seen kit ðĪĐ Cheers, Moggy

Thank you @Branky for the info - a sad end for a fixture in the modelling world ð Moggy

I knew about the kits... I have in my stash all the Pavla kits pertaining to my area of interest What I really miss is their resin accessories (very sharp detailing), their canopies... Pavla made improvement detail stuff to kits in real need of same. Most accessories today seem to be made for top kits with very little use for that (gilding the lily comes to mind). I really hope somebody picks up the accessory range ðĨš BTW @Kiwikitbasher - it all sounds very mysterious - it just whets my appetite for the story behind this... ðĪ Cheers, Moggy (searching for the B-47 improvement accessories)

Soleil Royale sailed in the 17th century - it was launched in 1669. The 16th century covers 1501-1600 Cheers, Moggy

Since a while back Pavla products are no longer available. I tried casting about after information but I've found none Pavla seems to have dropped off the face of the Earth. Does anybody know what's happened to Pavla? They did beautiful detailing stuff like ejector seats, entire cockpits, vacu canopies - all of them irreplaceable Is there a possibility of someone taking up the range? Cheers, Moggy

The people behind the kit really tried to make the interior bigger than the outside by dint of pushing more stuff into it that was actually possible to insert ð After some head scratching I was able to modify things so that everything that came with the kit actually fitted into it ð Cheers, Moggy

My daughter has been a Whovian since she was very very young; so I built an Airfix TARDIS (as used by the 10th Doctor incarnation David Tennant) for her as a christmas present I was informed of her coming to visit us ten days in advance - so the build started day -9 In the evening of day -1 I had completed the build: 27 hrs. spread over eight days! plus a few more hours of head scratching... The pictures are rather bad and (incredibly) I forgot to take pictures of the completed model ðĪŠ So no pictures of the blue lantern blinking on-and-off. The classic TARDIS sound is of course not going to be heard here either... although the model plays a recording of it! The finished model is about 25 cm. / 10 in. tall I have not built a model in so short a time (eight days) for many years ð Cheers, Moggy

It's probably my fault - I have yet to start my reworking of the Heller Super Etendard in my stash ð Cheers, Moggy

The shape of things to come?

I agree; the Airfix rivets can be sanded down to a more delicate size. The 1/1 H-53 has prominent rivets ð Being a question of taste really - in 1/72 I prefer countersunk detail ð So either a labour intensive job with Rosie the Riveter - or more simply good old countersunk paneling with your weapon of choice. One advantage of countersunk detail is that repairing it is immensely easier than protruding panel lines or rivets ð I don't know what the Italeri CH-53 makers were thinking... a rather stinky kit of a very well documented helo Cheers, Moggy

Moggy replied to Corsairfoxfouruncle's topic in 2023 Bunfight Archives
Count me in. I have a number of MiG:s (too many... some of these ancient) and a slew of middle eastern decals ð For once it would be nice to build something without sawing it apart ð Cheers, Moggy- 96 replies
