  1. Very nice Chris, it has a lovely shape on plan with the bay doors open. Maybee someday We will get it in 1/32 along with a F-22. Excellent job. Chris.
  2. Hi Folks, This not a review, as I am suffering a serious dose of ‘Man-Flu’, and just simply cannot be bothered. But I really had to comment on the quality of two kits by Bronco I got today. To be completely honest, I was astounded by the detail of these new tooled injection moulded plastic kits. Having recently come back to modelling, it is clear how much manufacturing has come on in recent years. Picture are of some parts, still on the sprue, completley untoutched. For reference, the kits where their 1/35 German 3.7cm FLACK 36 and 2cm FLACK 38, but the photographs are only from the 36. Apologies for the quality of the pictures, the Macro setting simply couldn’t get close enough. muzzle (big thumb for scale) muzzle close up muzzle close up (acutally hollow down the middle) muzzle close up muzzle back lit underside detail of the seats racks used to separate the shell canisters These are my first models by Bronco, and if this is typical of their other products I really can’t recommend this manufacture enough. And to top it all off, their instruction booklets are so exceptionally detailed, with plenty of colour, simply exquisite ! Chris.
  3. Hi John, Firstly welcome, I'm reasonably new to Britmodeller (about 6 months), and for me is a very welcoming and encouraging environment. I too had the same problem, but if you go to 'General Discussion / FAQ's there are several How-to's that will explain all. But basically, Your first port of call, will be to get your pictures up onto something like 'photobucket', copy the link for the relevant picture, paste it into your post, then select (hi-light) the pasted 'text' link, then click the picture icon at the top of the screen and OK. You may be requested by your computer to allow this action, just allow and them repeat the above. Hope this helps, and hope to see you work soon. Chris.
  4. Gents, I have now got down to two options, the Typhoon and the F/A-18F. Supper bug might just make it, might do a RN what-if ! Chris.
  5. Hi Mark, Dragon do a range of 1/72 armour, US Bradleys, Humvees and British Challenger 2's. These I would imagine have been carried at some point, Aslo a 1/72 MH-60 Blackhawk or a few AH-6 little Bird in 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment would be a class option. Chris.
  6. Now that is something else, excellent work John. Did you do a build thread ?, if not what was it like to build, I'm looking for a 1/32 jet for over Christmas and this has just joined the list of potentials. Fantastic. Chris

Excellent gathering. Your Bucaneer & Prowler really suit the alternate schemes. I think you should paint up your wood base to look like concrete and add a few LED landing lights, you can then close the hatch & turn the lights out ! Chris.
  8. Setting will be round about the 1950's in keeping with the 'Dust' storyline, that said......... Only God knows where this one is going to end up. Progress had been painfully slow, but as with most things, once it gets started in earnest it won't take too long to take shape. Hopefully this Sunday will see a few hours and good progress. The rear deck, depth charges section will go, and will now house a converters Dragon 1/48 Ba349D Natter, as an early ship launched unmanned vehicle. The lattice lunch tower that came with the kit, will now form part of the Quay side refueling structure. Thanks for your post, helped refocus my mind. The more modern type boat, is still on plan anyway, once this is project is done. Have found a suitable hull (from a RC power boat), for a more modern look, just waiting for a new year sale to get it, no rush at all. Best Regards, Chris.
  9. Hi Mike, sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the update on the correct term of Zapping. Hopefully my collegue will get a chance over the Christmas holidays to raid his archives and produce some more goodies. Best regards, Chris.
  10. I'm looking for the latest JHMCS (joint helmet mounted cueing system) helmet. I believe the Acadamy F-16 CJ comes with it, and the F-16i SUFA has the IAF version, but no aftermarket figures completely up to date. Chris.
  11. Thanks Ian and John for feedback, Really like the shape of the Super Bug, especially the 2 seater. I like showing my planes in flight, so the only draw back is the lack of up to aircrew in they t market, mind you by the time I put it todgether someone may have brought a good pilot figure out. Certainly is tempting, maybee Santa will be kind this year !. Chris.
  12. Folks, I have been thinking of building a large 1/32 fast jet for some time, started off with F-16I, then the Typhoon now am thinking of the Trumpeter F/A-18F. Has anyone out there built any of Trumpeters Hornets, if so any comments would be welcome. Thanks, Chris.
  13. Excellent work Richard. Would be very interested in knowing how you went about making it ?, You do the same for the 1/32, get some rubber and resin and start casting. Chris.
  14. I'd be up for it, although not entirely sure what is involved/ROE with a group build. If someone could enlighten me, it would be greatly apprecieated. Chris.
  15. Hi Skii Excellent work. I may have the ammo chute sections from the Eduard set, looking a good home (FOC). If you would like them, you are more than welcome. Chris.
  16. Hi Folks, A colleague of mine served with 824 Sqdn RN in the 70's and early 80's as an aircraft engineer working on Sea Kings. Here are some pictures which may be of interest to anyone interested in that type at that time. 824 Sqdn Crest. Stencil used to 'brand' visiting aircraft from other Squadrons. It seems that the deck crew made a 'stamper' of this and would brand the underside of rival squadron aircraft when the crew where not looking. Titled 'Shark Fishing With Live Bait - The Chock Head'. This was taken in January 1980 in the Caribbean. Picture of 824 Sqdn Sea King Has2, Call Sign 583 from the deck of RFA Olmeda (Side Code A123). It is hard to see, but the 'bait' is giving a one finger salute to the ship's crew who are gathered on the flight deck to watch the repeated dunking. You can also see a nice custom 824 Sqdn logo in the form of a yellow triangle with swan in the middle. The extending band at the front of the triangle did actually go all round the Sea King, but was reduced to this as it made them look to 'commercial'. Hope this is of some interest. Chris.
  17. The 'Starshipmodeler' web-store has various detail sets from PE, dual seat conversions to masks, think I also saw a resin 'lunch pad/rail' somewhere. www.starshipmodeler.biz/shop/ Realy looks tempting, but the £29.99 could easily spiral out of control. I think I saw a build here on Britmodeller of one a while back, in a NASA while scheme. Chris.
  18. Excellent Mike, I agree with Anthony, you got to build this one. Seems to be a nice simple build, and the pilot figure looks excellent ( just wondering if the self adhesive 'mirror' film you can get for AFV wing mirrors would do the visor ? ). Can anyone suggest a UK retailer who stocks this ?, would look great lunching off the rear end of my Schnellboot !. Chris.
  19. Various report suggests that the chopper involved is not G-PSNI or the new G-PSNO, but a leased chopper, possibly a Twin Squirrel G-SWEP (old Heddlu Police). Wont be too many choppers venturing near that mountain for a while, not much luck up there.
  20. You can have a look at the build in "> Modelling > Other Modelling Genres > Sci-Fi > Dust Models", have now embarked on a Schnellboot Dust conversion, might use of of the War Game stuff to accessorize !. If you could dig out the colours you used it would be great, I used LifeColour Dunkelgelb (RAL 7028 / UA204) as a base coat with LifeColour Rotbraun (RAL 8012 / UA211) and Vallejo Model Air 71022 Cam Green as the camofage with 'lashings' of Mig's dark wash. Weathering was a combination of enamel steel and Vallejo dark/light rust and pigments fo the rust top coat but really like the mustard and blue-grey colours you used, and with this type of model, anything really goes. Cheers, Chris.
  21. Chaoslord & Chewitt thanks for the comments, most apprecieated. Project has taken a bit of a turn. My original idea was to do the Schnellboot in a 'DUST' style along the lines of my Jagdluther. After a bit of research, it then morphed into what I had previously shown following 'inspiration' from seening the modern MK V boat used by US SEALs, well after doing a bit of thinking, I am now going to go back to my original idea, as there are so many nice features in the Italeri kit (torpedos, depth charges etc.), that it would be a real shame to just use the hull, and the hull just doesn't fit a modern boat (although this project will still happen, will use the hull of a cheap RC power boat). I have just ordered the following kits, which willl be used for this revised project, so i am well and truely set on this course !. The diorama will be along a dock side, with the boat being fuelled up. Time to get cracking !. Will run up a sketch to set the scene. Chris.
  22. These are excellent, as said before the dozer blade is great and the chipping aroud the leading edges on the Hammer head are just right. Just finished a DUST Jagdluther, which wasn't cheap so I might give one of these a go. What paints id you use ?. Chris.
  23. Very lucky indeed Steve, if memory serves me right they where in the Desert Scheme, military aviation other than Army helicopters and (at that time) Beaver's was very, very rare in the skies of Northern Ireland, jet noise ripping the sky open was just fantastic. A very fond memory, one of those 'looking to those magnificent men in their flying machines' moments. Unfortunately the only military aviation in our skies now, seems to be be high altitude transports crossing the atlantic. Vulcan777, you have inspired another Canberra build..... Chris.
  24. Fantastic build, your brief history of the plane unlocked a long forgotten memory of seeing Canberra's low and fast over Belfast in the early 90's when they visited the Shorts factory for repair. Many Thanks, Chris.
  25. Very nice indeed, always wanted to do a big sub since reading the Hunt for Red October many, many, many years ago. What length is it when built up ?, I seem to be developing an interest in Nautical things recently. Chris.
