  1. I feel your pain, I also did one of these a while back and can confirm that they are a bit tricky to get built up. The canopy is way to thick and needed a lot of thinning down and the lack of locator pins and butt joining wing tips make it tricky to get straight. Yours has turned out lovely though, nice work! Dave
  2. Hi all, Here we have my attempt at the at the Defiant. A great little kit but had to get some aftermarket bits such as the antennas, barrels on the the turret from Quick Boost as the ones in the kit were broken when I opened the box. I also added the nav lights to the tips of the wings with some clear pieces of sprue rather than try to paint the grey plastic. I went for the night fighter version and painted it in Tamiya Nato black with a few panels lightened to try and a bit more variation to the overall one colour. Weathering was done with pastels and AK weathering pencils. Not my best work but still happy with it, let me know what you think and dig me out if warranted lol. Anyway here it is and sorry about the pic quality. Thanks for looking Dave.
  3. Thanks Neil, im happy with it although I'm still trying to get used to those Hataka red line paints, I normally only use Tamiya acrylics.
  4. Hi fellow modellers, This here is one of the last models my mother gifted me for Christmas. She sadly passed away on the 5th of this month after her battle with cancer. The kit itself went together pretty well with a bit of filler needed here and there, the front portion of the canopy was misshapen on the port side so I tried to do the best I could by adding some filler to bulk it out a bit. I used a pilot from the spares box and the purchased the Master pitot from Hannants. Painting was done with Hataka red line and neodymium magnets were used to mount to the airfix base. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, and as these are pretty clean aircraft I didnt do any weathering apart from the exhaust end but even that was minimal. So anyway here it is... Thanks for looking Dave.
  5. Great information on this particular plane guys. I finished this kit some time ago now and think it turned out ok, if you're interested in seeing it, check it out here..
  6. Thanks guys, appreciate your comments. Lol I know what you mean, I think I have about 27 of these models left to build, mainly the vehicles. But I had to have this one, im a big fan of Mando!
  7. Cheers guys, appreciate all the feedback. I did paint it RAF green first as I was going to be doing the hairspray chipping but totally forgot to put the hairspray on, well done me! I'm no expert on the colours but I'm guessing that having the green underneath gives a more realistic hue to the desert pink as I think that was painted over the green/grey camo. Sorry fella, its the only one I had to hand which looked about right to me.
  8. Hi all, Back here again this time with this Jag, I've added some extra parts as the kit comes with French a2a and not aim 9, also had to use a drop tank from revells tornado and also had use one of the outer pods, the an/alq-101 from the tornado kit and purchased the other one from online. Painted with xtracrylics desert pink. I think it turned out OK but you be the judge. Well here she is. Oh I did mean to do hairspray chipping but forgot to put the hairspray on lol. Never mind aye, maybe next time. Thanks for looking Dave.
  9. Hi Back this time with Bandai's 1/12 Mandalorian. This is the silver beskar coated one so all but the silver bits were painted using Tamiya acrylics. I really like the bandai kits, the figures and the ships they go together really well and the detail on them is great. Ant way enough from me, here he is. This is the way. Thanks .
  10. Thanks Keith, yeah they are, they definitely add to the look of the kit too and very easy to do. I probably would of liked them to be a touch thicker but thats all I had to hand.
  11. Cheers Terry, The paints used are Hataka's red line. I purchased this set.. https://www.gforcemodels.co.uk/hataka-modern-royal-air-force-paint-set-vol3-acrylic-4375-p.asp . I did have a bit of a job getting them to spray nice and didn't think I'd get the result I got but they do seem to level out quite nicely.
  12. Cheers Carl, I used Hataka's red line paints on this one. Thank you, you are going to make me blush ☺. It's all thanks to the tips and tricks I read from all of the great people on this forum. Dave.
  13. Thanks, the jig/stand was purchased from Bulldog models. See this https://www.bulldogmodels.co.uk/product/aircraft-holder/
  14. Morning All, I finished this one last week for my brother in law. He wanted a chipmunk to remind him of his days in the RAF when based at Manston. The only real slight problem I had was with the canopy even tho its supplied with a jig to build it up. I've added the hydraulic brake cables using some strands from an RJ45 cable and the decals are from xtradecal. I think its turned out OK and my brother in law was over the moon with it so thats what matters. Thanks for taking the time to look. Dave.
  15. Thank you Jabba, that didn't show up on my Google search. Very much appreciated.
  16. Morning all, I'm currently building the Hasegawa jaguar in 1/72, the problem is it doesn't come with many under wing attachments. I've managed to get what I need apart from the matra phimat chaff pod, and I'm unable to find it online to purchase and am now looking to build one from scratch. I've not done any scratch building before so hope it goes well. So the question is, does anyone know the dimensions in 1/72? Or does anyone have one spare that I could possibly purchase? Thanks in advance.
  17. Thanks guys for all your kind words, I really appreciate it.
  18. Evening all, Finished this recently and I'm pretty happy with it, The kit goes together really well and is painted in Tamiya acrylics, apart from the nose and inner gear doors which are painted with Humbrol acrylic. Built oob apart from home made tamiya tape seat belts. Hope you like it. Thanks Dave.
  19. Elo, I finished this a few weeks ago but haven't had a chance to post it. The kit went together quite well but I don't think it was designed to be posed in flight as it still has a flattened rear tyre! I could of probably sorted it but I'm too lazy. There seems to be an issue with the canopies on this kit as the front windscreen has a circular piece cut out of it right in the middle where it joins to the sprue tree, luckily its on the frame and is fixable but only just. I say this as I broke one in half and had to get Airfix to send me a replacement that had the exact same issue. I might of just been unlucky but anyway, here it is, its painted in Vallejo's Air war Luftwaffe set of paints. https://flic.kr/p/2kZ3Za1 https://flic.kr/p/2kZ3YHp https://flic.kr/p/2kZ3YHE https://flic.kr/p/2kZcZXy https://flic.kr/p/2kZ3YLk https://flic.kr/p/2kZbwnz https://flic.kr/p/2kZcZYf Thanks for looking, enjoy the rest of your weekend.
  20. Thanks. Some aren't, I've only used AK's Xtreme metals and the Tamiya rattle can for this one and I can say that the Tamiya easier to handle after being applied. The AK on onother build I done melted under the heat of my finger tips after 3 days drying time.
  21. Hi, hope you are all well. I'm here this time with the 1/72 Vampire. This was painted with Tamiya TS12 bare metal and picked out some of the panels in citadels runethang steel but the 2 colours are very similar and don't really show much of a contrast between them in the pics. The decals are from xtradecal. Well there it is, and thanks for taking a look. Dave.
  22. Thanks @Andy Evans. The stand is from https://www.bulldogmodels.co.uk/, if you use micro set/sol then they also have a stand for those which is great as I've pretty much emptied a bottle by knocking it over countless times before purchasing one. Dave.
