  1. Well, I have put my votes in! They are the one five and only votes I will cast for this bumflight Unless... Ray
  2. No I didn't! He was a character. Nowadays, the players get away with much worse than that with little to no consequence. As an aside, it is not a good time to be a Reading supporter at the moment Ray
  3. 'The Greatest Footballer You Never Saw: - The Robin Friday Story' by Paul McGuigan and Paolo Hewitt. This is about Robin Friday, who was a fabulous talent and played at Reading (in the old Fourth Division) and then Cardiff between 1973/6. The authors reckon that Robin could have played at international level, but his lifestyle prevented that. I am a Reading Football Club fan and I was lucky enough to see him, so they got that title wrong in my case, but I know what they mean! The only other Reading player that I am aware of who had the same kind of fan adoration in the 70's was a giant of a player called Percy Freeman, and I saw him play too. I think this is a great book (third time of reading it now) but I am rather biased. I is a great insight into the player as a person, and the troubles he had Ray PS McGuigan is 'Guigsy' from the rock band Oasis
  4. As I only have the Novo Javelin re-pop, I thought it was time to have a look through my transfer bank and see what markings I have spare which would match Frog kits. I am pleased to say that a few candidates have appeared. A quick (okay, prolonged) check at Kingkit has produced quite a long list, all I need to do now is order two of them. The Gipsy Moth is a cert, and I need to decide on the other. That will give me three for the GB, and I will build them all Ray
  5. Hello Adrian, I have a potential candidate for this possible Group Build. It qualifies (I think) by this line in your opening post: However, it does not qualify (I think*) by any of these: It is the Combrig 1/700 HMS Victoria 1890 battleship. It is resin, has loads of teeny-tiny parts, and despite me being a confirmed 'small-model-is-better' addict, every time I look at it, it goes back into the deepest part of the stash. I know I could have built it in the NMCZ GB, but had enough on my plate for that one! I would love to try this in this proposed GB if you would allow it. Cheers, Ray * maybe it is sort of 'short run?
  6. 'Hawkwind: Sonic Assassins' by Ian Abrahams. It is a great read for a confirmed Hawkwind fan like me, and it tells the story from before the beginning up to about 2004. They are still going strong even now. Ray
  7. What an epic that was! I also had heard bad things about this kit, but I think this is the first time I have seen just how awkward it was. All of them have come out really well, but yours is my favourite, especially in that scheme. Nice one, Ray
  8. Still only got the Novo Javelin so @Enzo the Magnificent is able to have a night off at the moment Ray
  9. Sam brought this into our Club evening on Tuesday, and I can tell you all that in the plastic and metal before your eyes, this is an absolutely stunning build. I really cannot do justice to it in words, but if you do get a chance to see it at Telford, take that opportunity, please. Well done Sam! Ray
  10. I have done plenty of vacforms Loren, but they would be the biggest I would have attempted (although not the most complex - Aeroclub Felixstowe and Rareplanes Gotha GIV). The one I really want to do is the flying flatiron/tin triangle/Javelin, despite knowing that Airfix do one. I have never been put off by easier alternatives being available. Anyway, I am really looking forward to seeing how you get on with your subject, Ray
  11. That is good progress on this one Loren. I must admit that I have been thinking about doing a Dynavector vacform, I have heard nothing but good about them, and they had some very interesting types on offer. Maybe one day Ray
  12. I could answer that, but it would supply ammo for @Enzo the Magnificent* Ray * I will already be in with ONE Lightning, but there is potential for more strikes (I will now make a bolt for it...)
  13. Good luck! What you have done so far is already better than my attempt from a few years ago though Ray
  14. Lovely! It looks so different in desert camo. Ray
  15. Cheers Tim. I am now on attempt three for that window. I do lay the model on its side, I read about that a long time ago and it has come in handy! This one is balanced on two wooden pegs... Ray
  16. Hello all. Recently I have started to find a problem with Clearfix. It is a random issue, but every now and again this happens: The forward cabin window in the side door is cloudy, the aft one is clear. They were glazed yesterday at about 3pm, and this was taken at about 8.30am today. The two on the other side are clear too. This has happened on a couple of other kits too. I use the same technique each time. Clearfix on a cocktail stick, scrub it around the opening and sort of 'whisk' it around until it creates the meniscus across the opening. The only thing I can think of is that I may have used a bigger blob. Any ideas please? All the best, Ray
  17. That looks an interesting aircraft. It reminds me of some other bombers of the time, especially with that nose profile. I would have been tempted to build a model of one of these Ray
  18. Two cows in a field. One said 'moo' The other said 'I was gonna say that'
  19. I recently ordered 'The War in the Air' by HG Wells. It cost £3.99. When it turned up, I found it was actually a 'double book' and also contained 'The War of the Worlds', which made it even better value, as I would have ordered that one next. To answer the topic question, I am currently reading War of the Worlds, as it is the first one in the book. Ray
  20. I don't know, two pages in and no photographs of hot tubs... Ray
  21. That is a great result Dennis. I will be more than happy if mine turns out half as good as yours! Ray
