  1. Exact, when I saw the thread I thought of my old matchbox I did as a kid, a loooong time ago.
  2. Hello All I am building one of the new Airfix P-51 and I am close to the painting stage and I ground to halt on what is probably a simple detail. I need to decide how to paint the external sides of the moveable part of the exhaust system, the sides, the bottom will be painted as the rest of the underside of the plane. Thank you Paolo
  3. One that I will belive it is out when I see it in the flesh. So many years it has been announced as imminent
  4. I have plans to build a couple of Italian air force Tornados that fit the time frame perfectly. So count me in. I have also RF-4C and F-4G in the stash that are tempting, but I need to check the time frame for both. Cheers Paolo
  5. Even more interesting, there was a squadron of Mexican P-47 in the same theater, with stripes and all http://www.worldwarphotos.info/gallery/usa/aircrafts-2-3/p-47/p-47d-mexican-airforce-44-33713/ Cheers Paolo
  6. This one has a lot more http://www.aeroresource.co.uk/articles/2015/2-squadron-typhoon-activation/
  7. Is it the first squadron not to use a shield or ZK344 is a special scheme? I am always happy when new squadron stands up, new markings!
  8. Hi Linus Interesting stuff shame is the wrong scale Thank you for your heads-up
  9. Completely off topic but I think I am not the only one that would like a Typhoon update sheet. It could include 36 and 37 stormo from AMI, 6 and 41 squadron RAF, and probably much more.

    Lifecolor Paints

I had the same experience of Mike, most Lifecolour colours are quite tick, and two layers are usually more than enough for even the lightest colour.
  11. That is a shame, they should at least do 1 plane with squadron markings!
  12. Anybody knows which squadron will get it? That will add a little more black markings
  13. Giorgio, that is exactly the plane I want to do, I did the old one, ages ago. I am sure Airfix will re-edit the new one with that set of decals sooner or later
  14. Whoever is selecting the decals options at Airfix is doing a great job. I love that there is always a slightly different one included, Belgian Hurricane, Bulgarian Me-109E, Rumanian Blenheim and now a Croatian Do-17Z. Great!
  15. Contrary to most people in this discussion, I think the selection of markings in the latest Airfix models is great, there is always a quirky one, Belgian Hurricane, Romanian Blenheim, Finnish Gladiator. Long they may continue!
  16. Indeed it is, but it will also be a very big kit and lots of plastic, I don't know if it will be economically viable. Does anybody has information on the sales of Italeri C-27 (I personally bought 2) and Revel A400? Are they good?
  17. The picture has been taken very close to the model so when watched by the naked eye is not so bad, and hopefully when I will add the matt cote it will tone it down even more.
  18. Hi All Thank you very much for all the suggestions. I have to admit I wasn't patient and since this model was in the making for a lot of time and I had Mr Mark Softer around I did gave it another go. I used water straight from the kettle, waited till the decal looked dry and applied lots of it. The decals sank into all recesses but I still have some very fine wrinkles in some of the decals after repeated applications of Mr Mark Softer. They are not very pronounced and are difficult to see from a moderate distance, so even if I am not 100% happy I can live with it. The basis was Lifecolor gloss and it was quite smooth. I still have to add a few more decals and for the future, anybody has an idea of what went wrong, even if not horribly wrong? I will try to take a picture of the wrinkles and post it here Thank you Paolo
  19. Thanks for the comments I did use boiling water and on top of it Mr Mark softer, but this time the wrinkles didn't flatten down. I have another set of decals, but not here, I should try again, I will also try with Microset and sol, and see what happens. Thank you Paolo
  20. Hi all I did try using Mr Mark Softer on Tamiya decals and I got wrinkling that didn't go away. Since I am trying to do famous and very colourful VF(AW)-3 Skyray I need something quite aggressive to kick the huge (and rather thick) decals in place on the curves, nooks and crannies of 1/72 model. Do you have any experience of a setting solution that will work with Tamiya decals? Any suggestions? THanks Paolo
  21. Is it still in positive? or did they made it in negative as they did with some of their reworked kits?
  22. Sorry I disagree, I don't think there is space for another scale between 1/72 and 1/144. From my point of view 1/72 is perfect for military subjects and there are just a few fringe aeroplanes that fell out of the "sweet-spot" such as big bombers and transports, B-36, B-1B, C-5 and light civil planes Cessna 172 etc, ect, or Heinkel He 176 (I have a kit of it and is so tiny in the box) While 144 is perfect for civil aeroplanes, even an A380 is "manageable" in 144. Cheers Paolo
