  1. There are many new helicopter images from the recent Pashtun Jaguar/Dagger Afghanistan pre-deployment exercise on Salisbury Plain posted on the Plain Military forum, as well as other regularly updated helo photo threads. Joining is quick and easy, feel free to pop in and have a look; http://plain-military.proboards.com/index.cgi?
  2. There are now many images posted on the Plain Military forum, covering the recent 'Pashtun Jaguar/Dagger' Afghanistan pre-deployment exercise on Salisbury Plain, located under 'SPTA exercises' it contains the wide variety of vehicles used, including the Warthog in it's first UK outing, en masse to boot.
  3. Apologies if dealt with elsewhere and if it is a silly question but does anyone know of any plans to release the new carriers as models?
  4. Glad i caught a 4 Sqn. Harrier performing what could well be the last CAS i see by a Harrier over Salisbury Plain on 28/10/10.
  5. Nice build I remember White Warrior well as it was such an easy build to finish, quick blast of Halfords White Primer and some weathering which while subtle really showed up well, and the decals went on so well. It sort of took away the frustration of the turret bin AND the the tightness of the tracks causing the rear road wheels to bend slightly up, looks like it on yours as well!
  6. Great links, just what i was looking for with regards to the RN flight deck. I also had a quick look through the downloads and couldn't see if there were any for RN frigates/destroyers, does anyone know of any? I'm contemplating knocking up a basic dio for Corgi's die-cast Navy Lynx (1/72) and need a flight deck plan.
  7. Fantastic model of a fantastic aircraft!!! Watching Argoys's at Boscombe as a small boy are one of the reason's i have an enduring fascination of military aviation.
  8. I never take offence at anything!!! My source is pretty good so i expect HIS source is suspect, that's why i always say 'apparently' Slightly disappointed to hear that none are actually in storage, can't wait to see Merlin junglie on Salisbury Plain...... Don't mean to appear selfish as them going to the Navy might affect your job?
  9. I asked in a model shop (as i do when we visit different towns etc.) the other day about the Revell Merlin and matey laughed saying it is the most asked about model, he did say that Revell were rumoured to be going to re-release it but that has obviously come to nothing so far.......... I see i have a new Hobbycraft store opening near me soon, hopefully i may be as lucky as Dads203 and find one, if they have more than one i will have the lot away
  10. I did say apparently, but i did get the from a pretty good source. The way i see it is the ones apparently in storage are awaiting rework up to in-theatre spec, then they will be passed to the Navy, the last one's to go will be the the one's actually in theatre, no rework required but deep servicing will be!!! Thus the RN get their Merlins in phases,as they are replaced by Chinooks, otherwise if everything was flying it would be a hell of a task to to do all the Merlin in one go.
  11. Yes, that's it, you would have made a few quid on Ebay
  12. Not teasing again are we Mr.Sniper, you do realise that the first RAF Merlin's are now apparently in storage awaiting rework/mods? Are Corgi that far down the line? Or will it take so long for the Merlins to get to the Navy, LOL.
  13. I was thinking of changing my diecast Cormorant into a RN Junglie, not a 'what if' but a 'when'. Originally wanted to convert to an RAF example, but Revell's Merlin is like Rocking Horse poo on Ebay, and usually go with a hefty price when they do appear
  14. Looking very good I'm presently converting an 1/72 Italeri diecast Apache, with the aid of an Airfix Apache, not a good move! Has anybody else got got any good colour matches for a British Army Apache?
  15. I live nearly a few miles out nearly under the approach to Boscombe Down and unfortunately it isn't the place it used to be, Alpha jets and Hawks are the norm with the occasional goodie, this years highlights have been a couple of F-15's and a NATO AWACS. I would have seen an Anotov 124 as well go over my place but i was at the end of the runway waiting for it Plenty of helo action, with the Ripple Hips getting a bit close to a neighbours chimney on occasion when they were flying, my missus has given up trying to get us to move house and ignores me everytime i rush outside to see something
