  1. Hello everyone. A little slow going of late. But doing stuff. I’m starting tonight on the hoof, I normally like to plan things, but, I’ve not penned a post in a while and have just decided to go for it, straight from a blank sheet of paper so to speak. First thing catching my eye is the first time I’ve seen this is that my photos are missing and that PostImage hosting server error images are displayed, so, I hope what they are showing is correct and it is just a glitch. The last few weeks have been busy but just not enough to warrant making a post, and here is one of my talking points. I have been trying to keep the distractions to an absolute minimum in order to keep focused on this model, I have been in the mood to shun both the model club and model shows, having jipped off three model shows I’ve been happy with this. But jipping off club night is a little harder, so this week I went along. A talking point was made by me and how it’s much much harder to just do a model. Mrs B had said recently that she thought I should try a go back to days of old ie: Tamiya O.O.T.B circa 37-40 hours , but , times and “Amos” have moved along somewhat. So, the modeller I was talking to is building models but just can’t spray anything since pneumonia had nearly killed him. As I’ll expand on this later it will become obvious. Work has been getting in the way and for this week I’ve decided to chuck in some holidays because I was feeling the need to sort stuff out. The last couple of weeks have been my shift change over the ‘sad seven’ version. Also a few ailments have conspired against me…….. Soooooo, primer as a paint, it’s a pain. I’ve been running with it recently, the bigger the model the more of the stuff you’ve gotta apply. The application of primer never brings good news, there’s always a few flaws, thankfully the flaws are just few. And that’s my last few weeks wrapped up. I had previously discarded some of my old Gunzi primers as they were producing powdery results, my new stuff in white has failed me too so here’s the mixture of grey and white primer, still work in progress. I’ve filled and sanded a few panel lines that need re-scribing. Back to the talking point of days gone by. Whilst in the past I’ve knocked out a Tamiya 1/48 Spitfire in 37 hours for this this build I’ve spent roughly 35 hours just playing around with paint!! ( That also includes time spent driving to buy stuff.) Mixing, blending, trial testing…….. all because I can’t just buy the paint off the shelf as premixed products. And here’s the results of my efforts, a spray out of everything, the spray out roughly match the magazine article, this picture seems more neutral for matching. All of the other pictures I have seem to be to be afflicted by inconsistent lighting conditions and printing. And here’s a spray out of the fuel tanks, their colour showing the difference between the original starting point of true German RLM78. And my previously re-scribed panel lines are looking very nice indeed. Thanks for looking. 😉
  2. From a clean sheet of paper, looks like you’ve made a lovely looking Gannet. 😁 …….. and another thing…… you should see what comes out of @AliGauld ‘s bread bin. 😼
  3. Sadly the two seat ‘S’ was just fiction. Never got past the drawing board. 😉
  4. Shame it’s just one photo to go by, so just one word - nice. 😉 😼
  5. It’s a little bit different from the norm - a lot of niceness all over. 😉
  6. Gotta tip my hat off to you for pulling off this lovely colour scheme. 🎩
  7. With vibrant colours and nose art - there’s a lot to like - nicely-nicely done. 😉
  8. Now looking fantastically glossy, getting close to very nicely done. 😉
  9. Hello everyone. I’ve found some time to rummage through my stash of decals. I’ve got to thank @Troy Smithfor starting this thread. Up until the announcement of Armour Hurricane IIc I hadn’t given this subject much thought, but, I appreciate the discussion. Whilst I’m always sceptical of Xtradecal some other decal companies are more dubious. Here’s some other decals from time gone by: SuperScale 48-560 , they have 7 o N as overall white. When this set of decals came along this ‘seemed’ to answer my needs. But the last A/C seems as flawed as any other offering. I would love to model this A/C because it suggests “Nicki” on the port side and a double line of Dark Sea Grey. Whilst I’ll have to pay attention if I’m going to choose something off my Xtradecal sheets, as for the my older sheets these may just become side lined. Thanks for looking. 😉
  10. The question @Troy Smith asked was : with what? There aren’t many IIc choices available. Just to flesh out my thinking. Going back some 20 years ago this sort of model would have been the stuff off dreams both in terms of the plastic, let alone the resin goodness, and let alone the decals. But for this modeller I normally don’t do Out Of The Box , and now that the decals have gone from After Market to in the box and here lies my problem. For most modellers this boxing or god forbid that Airfix model in my stash will very much suffice for the vast majority of modellers. And here in lies my problem everybody else will want to do these decals, ( of which I’ve seen these decals modelled before ) which I will appreciate other people’s efforts. But I don’t like having my models looking like any body’s else’s efforts hence the comment ‘ decals have got to go’. @Troy Smithis very much correct ‘with what’ ? That too is my problem but with some research and of course some hard to find A.M decals I think I have options…….. 😉
  11. Ah the kit has piqued my fancy, the resin will keep me happy, the decals nice indeed, but, will need to be replaced. I’m looking forward to this rascal. 😉
  12. Hi Ali, coming along very nicely-nicely. I’m pleased that I’ve got to get a comment in, just because I’ve not had time to keep in touch with W.I.P builds. 😉
  13. Sorry @Gondor44, I’ve just found this build, wishing you well with this rascal. 😉
  14. My take on ‘Fat Albert’ is that it’s American slang because of the girth of the fuselage.
  15. Hello @Head in the clouds. Coming along nicely-nicely-nicely, gotta give you three because, well, it’s appropriate. 😃 Also just dropping into Hannants future releases is this rascal, I don’t think you’ll be concerned with the cockpit though. 😼 https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/SVM-14004?result-token=LfRVB keep up the good work. 😉
  16. 😲 never seen these before, keep up the good work, 👍
