  1. Both types with rectangle ones rather on the early series. The mounts varied too with some individual ideas here and there. You've got to follow Your bird. No idea for the Tamiya kit though...
  2. Hmm..., well, my wife drives it mostly. I hope it doesn't count this way.
  3. Oh, I surely don't know the right position of Polish insignia by heart . Being no real enthusiast I still like Your corrections very much .
  4. Only few enthusiasts do know the right position of Polish Insignia by heart . It is quite clear the erk painting it on a plane wouldn't have cared. There is a picture of two 315'th Mk IXs of the 'Gabreski period' taking off as a pair and they have the boards painted in different way. Unfortunately, Artur, You have got it wrong. There is a pic of BS410 too, and it shows insignia positioned the other way round with no 'POLAND' stenciling underneath.
  5. I do not know many things about Phantoms, but I surely do like Your avatar . Have a nice construction!
  6. You will most probably need Rotol metal bladed prop with dedicated domed spinner. I am working on MkII from Tamiya MkI right now. HERE
  7. The old type windscreen went on into the first J models. I see modellers often forgetting that when modelling the Green Dragons from 80th FG.
  8. It doesn't take much time to find carrier operating aircrafts with camouflage damages clearly visible. Coirsairs, Hellcats - they all have it GSB scheme included. It is hard to imagine a guy with a tin of paint running around the deck in circles touching with his brush any trace of silver or yellow he can see. It is right the protection against the sea water is a factor and the carrier a/c usually look very well but it is also proved by photographs the fight with paint covering defects was constant and the protection not always had the upper hand. The trick is to find pics showing typical looks of the aircrafts of the type, time and place and take an educated conclusion out of the data.
  9. Thanks for attention. Got it .
  10. It is Rotol metal blades propeller, seen commomly on MkII Spitfire. The blades differed at the base from those made out of wood.
  11. It would be Scale Aircraft Modelling, Vol. 23, No. 12, Feb. 2002. I need a scan of Dana Bell's text. Please PM me or cry out here if You are able to help.
  12. Which is much more difficult then painting even stripes. Still worth of trying.
  13. Ah. Still interested how come ZX-1 entered the scene though?
  14. On this page You will find service of EN527 in 310sq and 303sq covered. http://www.spitfires.ukf.net/p036.htm I am only surprised of the ZX 1 idea. No trace of the service in 145sq there, far less in Polish Fighting Team as the code would suggest. There surely was no such frame in PFT. They flew similar number EN257 but it was coded ZX 4. ZX 1 was EN459 and later (replacement aircraft) EN462.
  15. It would be easier if You defined the specific aircrafts that are supposed to be built. Otherwise the list would be of some 50 colors or so covering the life of the planes depending on time and place. Do You mean colors of the aircrafts, or modelling equivalents?
  16. Half of a squadron really, but still... Polish Fighting Team attached to 145sq.
  17. The pilot's name was Tadeusz Schiele. A climber and author. Highlander from Tatry mountains he was. Nice work here.
  18. Yes. After Feb. 1941 yes, but not for sure. A time between August 1941 and January 1942 require a special attention. Very touchy subject especially for retrofited modifications.
  19. Looks like a repair pachwork to me. The possible reasons for use of the paint are mentioned above. There is also a question how real are the colors of the pic. I am not saying there's something wrong with them, just asking. I'd be surprised to learn Spitfires were primed ZCY on production line, but it woud not be the first time really .
  20. No ZCY on Spitfire. The aircrafts were primed, sure but the primer was grey, and covered with other colors on most if not all parts. Where have these ZCY oil tanks came from? Ouite interesting.
  21. Yeah, the same masks. And You need decals for the details. And You have to be careful with Zumbach's RF-D - he flew three of them and they all are documented quite well.
  22. Anders, Choose one of Zumbach's RF-D. Wooden Rotol, late style roundels, no problem . I could even have masks for her. I could check if You wished.
  23. Anders! The model You have shawn is certainly supposed to represent DH Spinner and Proppeler. I belive there is some mistake with naming the stuff on the page You linked. Ultracast surely does early metal Rotol Screw and domed spinner in some scale. The blades may look similar from some angle but with plain view they are impossible to be mistaken. They look like wooden ones at the end but are more smooth at the roots. I do not know for sure, but never have seen MkV with metal Rotol screw. Which is Your Montex scheme?
