  1. lovely article I was aware of this guy but never knew what happened to him in the interwar years. As a military historian I am ashamed to admit this - thank you for posting, I go to Canada and Toronto for work every couple of years. I will look him up and pay respects from us all. Steve
  2. Hi FZ6 I am just about to start WnW Junkers J1. I have had a long break from kit building and modeling in general. I got back into it by painting figures for the stepkids war games and fantasy rp games. I see you are building and painting things in small sub assemblies - the cockpit and seat and engine look amazing. I am going to follow your lead and hope I can keep up with your skillz, Thanks for posting please keep on ta again Steve [GSF1200N]
  3. Ok thats great - thanx guys damn it - sun has come out and Il Duce says i need to do the garden
  4. Hi All, I have been putting off learning to use my airbrush for far too long, and now the weather is changing have an excuse to laze around the house this weekend and get stuck into my stash. I have quite a few revell aqua colours and was wondering if they sprayed ok after thinning - i have noticed that they are far grainier than my valejo and tamia acrylics. cheers Steve
  5. YAY my replacement arrived today. I scanned the letter I received from PF registering my complaint and the letter sent to me by NZealand Mail and emailed them to Dave. Dave posted me a replacement on the 20th and it got here today - 3 days turnaround when things work right thanks all for your help and advice i will do a build log when i start this Baby Cheers all Steve
  6. OMG link please :-D Fair bit of clean upwork needed with Bub. Time to wash a Zombie :-) "bath time with Bub" Sounds wrong - very wrong
  7. Hi Paul, Thank u for the tip. Yeh its a large scale 1/3rd resin half statue bust. I have never gone this large before usually only going as high as 1/6th. I usually do undead in a dark primer but I think u R right to suggest grey. I have a soft drafting nib pencil at work I can use. I remember getting vexed by tartan on highland infantry back in the day. This scale shows up mistakes as much it can show off good work though. Fingers crossed x Cheers SW
  8. Hi all, I have had a long break from modelling and I am starting my first figure in years. Its a large scale resin bust of Bub from George A Romero's Day of The Dead. I have done a fair bit of research and its the idea of doing his checked lumberjack shirt that is worrying me. I don't yet know how to get the pattern to follow the folds of the clothes. Does anybody know of any online guides for clothing patterns. Thank you for your time Steve
  9. Thanx guys There is another off white in there to do German camo too. A lot of work and expertise has gone into creating this set.. I am very impressed. Not used it on any afv's yet but all shades of Green are great for doing undead. The kids got me painting the zombies for a boardgame :-D
  10. Hi All, just looking through my Panzer Aces boxed set and there is one labled 'Stencil' I take it this is a masking liquin to help do splinter camo etc? If so is it any good? I have had problems before with some acrylics and manufactured liquid masks. cheers SW ps smnstuff is great I so want everything right now
  11. As a side note - A very helpful Dave @ WnW is going to keep me informed of updates but has warned that due to the time differential things may move slow to begin with. Last week I made 2 complaints - one at my local PO and the other online. We moved house 5 months ago and I have been paying for a redirection order. This week we have received tonnes of mail, including legal and financial papers that were postdated weeks if not months ago. I can only assume lots of our mail has been lying around in the system and took a complaint for it to be policed up and delivered. How the hell they expect to run a business this way???? I can't complain about the actual postmen I see, they always try to help and are always on time. Management needs replacing with people who care.
  12. Really tempted to get the full set of model air from smnstuff. Will last me for years hopefully. I take it that model air still adhere well from brush too?? Sw
  13. I am tempted to get the model colour boxed set of 72 colours. It works out at about 2quid per colour. Pretty good value for high quality stuff. Beats the pants of citadel paints.
  14. Hi JM, OMG what an awesome setup - I need to remortgage the house :-D Ok I have an excuse to go for it - it was my 40th last week an family have had a collection so I have credits :-) Can u recomend a supplier and any other boxed sets and products that may save time/money or are essential. Thanx SW
  15. Thanx guys :-) I usually use lifecolor acrylics and thinner. I have never used Vallejo before. Could I still use the lifecolor thinner or is it drastically different from Vallejo's formula? Thanx for your time Steve
