  1. As a sorta scientist, I would say the sort of data we are looking at here is not appropriate for the sort of analysis invoking a null hypothesis - that the observed effect is due to chance alone. We have already observed variation in the subjects.
  2. Apart from Graham's contract cards, apparently not. I take your point about documentation and it is a fair question. I would imagine there is something in either the National Archives or the RAF Museum that has not been seen or widely circulated. if you think it is important enough for study, I hope you will report back on this thread. I understand it may take some time.
  3. I think it was U-862 under Korvettenkapitan Timm in January 1945. Her home base was Batavia in the NEI - present day Jakarta, Indonesia. There is an excellent book - U-boat far from home by David Stevens documenting U-862 and much more. https://www.allenandunwin.com/browse/book/David-Stevens-U-Boat-Far-From-Home-9781864482676/
  4. Maybe received as a somewhat worn DG702 and repainted in the RNZAF scheme? A model ireally would have the Pacific Scheme colours and the nose art. This picture has apparent TLS and nose art - did they keep it?
  5. That's an interesting Anson and would make a good model. Another picture here.... https://www.airhistory.net/photo/424577/NZ413 in a line-up here https://ww2aircraft.net/forum/threads/commonwealth-air-forces.29251/page-5 However, sccording to this thread it carried Dumbo artwork, not in evidence on either photo. https://rnzaf.proboards.com/thread/3322?page=2 Perhaps there are other pictures?
  6. I thought this thread might tell me something about the "Advent Calendar" but it's another Airfix wish list.
  7. Local review here https://www.hyperscale.com/2023/reviews/kits/redroomodelsrrk48006reviewbg_1.htm One is on the way to Mike for Britmodeller review Some discussion here https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/hyperscale/red-roo-models-1-48-de-havilland-dh-94-moth-minor--t541111.html
  8. Hershey PA - we took our kids there when they were little! It has one big attraction. PS - Welcome to the forum
  9. We are about to release a pretty accurate version of the Cessna 185. Not perfect but a lot better than what is in the base kit - it has a new wing, aft fuselage and a few other bits. The initial release wil be VH-SBU as used by TAA in New Guinea. Depending on the reception we will do some more Cessna 180 versions. Maybe even correct the cowlings as required. We appreciate that some modellers will be happy with the KP kit as is and others will want to do their own fix-ups. You are not our market😀. 10. Pretty close to Seattle - FHCAM - Paine Field Airport, Everett. They look really nice, impressive even, but I don't think I would use any of them as reference material for a model.
  11. Not really - just about every scheme on every boxing has had something wrong with it. ........in the Merriam-Webster (American) dictionary "up to snuff" is defined as "of sufficient quality : meeting an applicable standard." Wait for this Academy release, it should be cheaper.
  12. Yes they are HPM but we sell them (intermittently). If you are in Australia it's easier to get them from us, anywhere else - direct from HPM.
  13. Left - AZ Gauntlet (previous release) Centre - Home made for Gauntlet from Contrail strut material Right - Airfix Gladiator (for comparison)
  14. They seem to have been an off-the-shelf item although there may be two different sizes. Here's one on a Gauntlet and a model one on a Gladiator More specifically for Beauforts Rather distorted but this picture shows the filter on a Beaufort. https://weaponsandwarfare.com/2019/02/12/no-217-squadron-raf-1942-45/ Small picture but same here https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Beaufort_39_Sqn_RAF_at_Luqa_Malta_1943.jpg https://www.worldwarphotos.info/gallery/uk/raf/beaufort/beaufort-n1024-39-sqn/ I resin moulded mine from the ones ncluded in Airfix and Valom kits. They seem to be unpainted in the photos I have - Galdiators. Gauntlets, Blenheims - and the one in the picture above seems the same. I saw one in museum storage - also unpainted.
  15. A friend asked me this question but I have to admit that I can't answer it and I am intrigued to know what happened. This photo is in Day Fighters in Defence of the Reich and shows a Me410 but the WNr is attributed to a Ju-88 multiple times, notably here http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showthread.php?t=34188 Check out the second post. @G.R.Morrison The simplest answer is a numerical transposition but I can't find one - admittedly in only a few minutes of searching.😀 Q2. Does anyone have a better version of the picture? Q3. Was the BK-5 that "hated"? It does seem that once you get above about 30mm, WW2 aircraft guns do not seem a good idea. @SafetyDad or @FalkeEins might help too.
  16. I have onlly a few relevant pictures but they look the same as the undersides of the P-40 so I would do mine in Azure Blue. Many modellers look for "something different". Could they have been Sky, Sky Grey, some metallic colour or primer? Sure - if that's what you want. https://www.dreamstime.com/curtiss-p-m-fuel-drop-tank-up-close-detail-kittyhawk-early-ww-american-fighter-image210155735
  17. Pictures are your friend but @Buz will know. Looking at a few pictures, they look the same as the undersides of the P-40.
  18. I used one of these https://www.scalemates.com/kits/mark-i-mka14401-raf-airfield-display-base--396433 with the colour photocopier at 200% to make multiples.
  19. It starts with " someone" who recounts his story of what he flew 40 years beforehand, or what he thought he saw or what his cousin told him he thought he saw. Some friend or relative of that person knows some else who works in the model industry. Then the story is passed on by a manufacturer to a profile or decal artist in form of a phone call or maybe even a written note. The artist is only being paid a few pounds per profile so there is no incentive for him to check anything. So it gets into print and is used as a (usually unacknowleged) source by generations of amiable plagiarists thereafter. Here's another one to add to Troy's collection above. https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234972519-hurricane-mki-p2992-of-527-radar-calibration-sqn-red/ PS - I see the pictures in the above link have been Botophucketed - for those unfamiliar with that Hurricane, there is a picture here https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234977606-hurricane-mki-p2992-of-527-radar-calibration-sqn/
  20. I would say nothing has been changed in the tooling. It still has anorexia of the tail and obesity of the radome.
  21. You can download the Fujimi instrctions here https://www.scalemates.com/kits/fujimi-72258-nakajima-c6n1-saiun-myrt--942944 and here is the relevant part of the instructions for one of the RD sheets. If you look at the actual decal sheet here, it is just letters and numbers for the C6N http://www.aviationofjapan.com/2015/06/rising-decals-emperors-eyes-ptii-rd72069.html
  22. There are actually quite a few Rising Decals sheets OOP, including all 4 sheets with a C6N - one answer is to email Mirek Karnik (mirik (&) risingdecals (.) com) and ask him to do a reprint of the particular decal you want. If enough people do it then it looks like a commercial proposition.
  23. This set includes even a flag for the C6N aerial. http://www.aviationofjapan.com/2008/11/emperors-eyes-rising-decals-rd72022.html http://www.risingdecals.com/72-001_C6N/K_C6N.htm
