  1. Some of the doors in this set appear to be fictitious. They are invisible inside anyway so maybe not much of a problem. It's hard to tell whether the resin props are a little to broad or not. They are useful if you are doing one without spinners as they have correct hub. The resin cowls look as though there is a rib around the cowl flaps? Exhausts appear identical to Italeri ones. This set may be of more use for Airfix kit than Italeri......
  2. This is very fine modelling. Rather than 'lose the will to do modelling' as someone said (in jest) I am inspired to improve ...........
  3. Here is the result of the survey. I can assure you that the Stirling development guys at Italeri have looked at my summaries and the raw data. It is of course up to them how they use the results. There have been approximately 350 views on Aussie Modeller International and 1250 on Britmodeller. Hyperscale does not have a page view counter but I think 1500 is a safe bottom limit. So 3000 people were interested of which around 70 were interested enough to have responded. According to my statistics friend, the probablilty of the results being typical for the whole 3000 is over 95%. Therefore I think it is safe to say that a very large majority of people dislike the panel lines My thanks and those of Italeri to everyone who contributed. 4. I quite like them too despite their foibles - don't be fooled by the thick plastic, my F6F spontaneouly split apart! The MiG-3 is the best around, the MS-406 is pretty good. Avoid the earliest ones, the Hurricane is the worst caricature I have ever seen - it's about 18 scale inches wide!
  5. If you need a Red Roo product, just nag David at Model-Craft until he gets it in!
  6. Some thin PVA and one of these babies http://www.biohit.com/liquid-handling/pipettes-electronic/products/9/eline-electronic-pipette and you can put a domed rivet in every hole.
  7. Cue whining tone - will they do a 1/48 one? (damn - just noticed post #7)
  8. You can't legislate niceness without being a dictator. Mike et al don't want to be dictators. Thus some not-very-nice posts will appear from either people who should know better or people who just aren't nice.
  9. No problem! They may or may not remove these posts but it doesn't matter. Perhaps someone will notice it and make an injection moulded C.445.... NB - Even though Classic Plane list it - it's OOP
  10. It may well be an ortho picture and close examination of the original photograph shows the tips to be pretty much the same colour or, if anything, a fraction lighter than the blades. Here's a higher resolution pic of the blade which doesn't help much.... Other pictures in the album are taken at Rayak so it may well be the same aircraft as the AWM picture. I think the roundel is consistent with being a B-type against a Royal Blue background.
  11. Now that's the easy way to do it. This is the hard way http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/53729-spitfire-22-and-24/ Nice work Horrido - the Admiral kit is a 'clone' of the CMR kit so it should be good and you have made a nice clean job of it.
  12. Umm... pardon my denseness, but I can't see why you have put your Waco post in this thread!
  13. This quite small picture came from the collection of a 451 (Australian) Squadron veteran. It appears to be in the dark blue (Royal Blue, mixed colour?) scheme apparently used in the Mediterranean. I believe I have seen similar pictures, perhaps the same one. Can anyone shed any light on it?
  14. Spence and Jonathan: +1 to your comments
  15. Unless they are Vol 19 and 20 http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/1861840497/ref=dp_olp_used/175-8445618-3804526?ie=UTF8&condition=used http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/1861840535/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used
  16. This is another one of those aircraft where there are various different iterations but not much high quality choice. Having built the original Airfix kit (of historic interest only), the Esci (best by a small amount) and Italeri (not that bad but needs work) kits and started the A-Model one (having seen fit problems reported), I have to agree with Jennings about panel lines (ugh) and with both CarLos and Pin that the A-Model kit is a descendant of the Esci but much improved. Probably the 'ideal' DC-3 would be a heavily modified A-Model or Esci with panel lines filled and some of those resin rivets - the real thing is festooned with the proverbial mushroom sized rivets. We at Red Roo do a nose for the Esci kit which ameliorates to some degree its NQR nose shape......... http://www.redroomodels.com/conversions.php?conversion=387 Ask Model-Craft in UK to get one for you. Or do an ANARE one if you like colour..... http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234935142-anare-c-47-dakota-conversion-for-italeri-kit-172-red-roo-models/?hl=anare
  17. CMR kit 72-237 includes the 'elephant ears' and markings for one of the prototypes, TX807 (A78-2) which was transferred to Australia to serve as prototype for licence production of the Vampire F.30 for the RAAF.
  18. Maybe there's a reference to it in these private papers of S. Cohen or even some film of it here? http://m.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/80001321
  19. That's a very nice scratch-build. It's unusual to find something that has never been kitted!
  20. You are probably right John but as I understand it the ESM72 lists were mainly compiled by people sending the one-time organiser lists of what kits they had. That said, this one wouldn't be the first mistake in the list, although it's a worthwhile resource.
  21. It actually sort of looks like a quite nice job. Maybe you should experiment with different sorts of acrylics as different sorts seem to suit different people.
  22. As i said, I have never even sen the kit advertised, but it is listed as such in ESM72, which is not infallible, but is generally accurate.
