  1. Well, now we know - April/May. See the thread in Rumourmonger.
  2. Many, many moons ago there was a long and detailed series of letters in Scale Models about torque links (or the lack thereof) on Spitfire undercarriages. I can't lay my hands on it at present, but IIRC it was back pre-SAM. If I find it I'll update this post.
  3. And if vildebeest can't find his set, I can help - pm me your email if that's the case.
  4. As a sideline: the RAAF had all sorts of problems with their Vcs, due in no small measure to the fact that they operated them at much higher altitudes (typically 25-30,000 ft) than the RAF normally did in either Europe or the Middle East. Guns froze and prop CSUs misbehaved. To get a much more detailed insight, see Anthony Cooper's Darwin Spitfires (New South Publishing, 2011, ISBN 978 174223 227 0, Dewey 940.54269414). No connection, other than my interest in Australian aviation history.
  5. A Kangaroo would be the mouse's twousers! I'm at a loss to understand why we haven't seen an Avro 504 yet - it's so well known, and would surely be hugely popular - but I suppose it's Sir Peter's moolah, so he spends it how he sees fit ...
  6. OK, we have battery, we have dimensions! For the main leg: width 4.77mm, thickness 1.58mm. Brace: width 2.5mm, thickness 1.19mm. Over to you ...
  7. Dunno what went wrong there - I copied from the WNW site! And Rob, you can't sell it - IT'S MINE!
  8. Oh dear ... Gotha G1: http://www.wingnutwings.com/ww/product?productid=3198 Gotha UWD: http://www.wingnutwings.com/ww/product?productid=3199 2019 is getting more and more expensive!
  9. I can help, but the battery in my calipers has gone flat. I should be able to get a new one tomorrow, then I'll get back to you.
  10. You could have a look at Ebbro's 2CV Pickup - kit 25004 - which can be built as an RN vehicle, and so comes with an RHD instrument panel as an option. It's basically a standard Deux Chevaux, so the panel may not be appropriate for a Dolly.
  11. Probably April and May 1981 - the article was titled "Avro's Stopgap Airliner". If you can find it, there's also "Warplanes in Civvies - the Avro Lancaster", in Flypast for January, February and March 1983.
  12. Hate to have to tell you, but: https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10271757
  13. Yes, there is a slight taper on the trailing edge - the centre chord is slightly larger than the outboard. There's not much in it - the deviation from square to the fore and aft line is only a degree or so - but it's there.
  14. Thanks, indeed - some fine machinery there! I drooled over that Citroen at Shuttleworth last year - I recognise the number plate.
  15. I've seen all the surviving RAAF ones, which ended up with Adastra (which is where I saw them, way back when at Mascot). The elevator/horizontal stabiliser line was straight on all of them.
  16. Thanks - that makes me feel happier. I'd rather wait for them to do a proper job than rush it and cut corners, but it's nice to know what's going on.
  17. Anything more on this? There's still nothing on the Copper State site.
  18. The odds of a 1:48 Trislander have shortened considerably - I've started cutting up a pair of Islanders ...
  19. What Michael said. The AiM set involves much less pain (from one who tried to build an Argonaut from a Mach 2 DC-4 - pain on pain!)
  20. I see some Darwin Spitfires in my future (or should that be Future?!) ...
  21. Thanks again, James - that is indeed a good start! Hours of endless fun in building that in the hole that Frog gave us ...
  22. That is indeed the one, Andy! I'm following my other leads; I may have an answer after this weekend. I'll let you know via pm.
  23. I think the radiators are behind those big holes in the inboard leading edges - it looks like exit ducts at the base of the engine pylon, either side of the cockpit.
