  1. Hi Mike, I'm also looking to make a Fleet Air Arm AEC Mammoth Major Mk III refueller... did you manage to get your hands on a better chassis drawing?
  2. Are you doing the whole airfield, or just a particular part of it?
  3. Which airfield are you modelling Mike, and and what year will it represent?
  4. Is this the type you're referring to Mike? These saw service at RNAS Lossiemouth and Yeovilton for sure (I have photos), presumably Culdrose and possibly Brawdy (can anyone confirm the latter?). If so, we share a common interest! 😉 Regards Andy
  5. This is the best I have. I hope it is of some help. Andy
  6. I'm looking for a profile, or hopefully even a 3-view drawing, of XX154 or XX341 in the following early raspberry ripple scheme please (I'm not sure if any others wore it?). If you have any such drawings to hand I'd really, really appreciate a scan please! 300 or 600 dpi would be fab! I have a hunch the following might have contained such??? Many thanks in advance Andy
  7. I would like to model several [Martin Baker] ejection seats. Ideally I'd like to measure and photograph originals (whether complete or incomplete, just so long as they're not installed in aircraft and therefore accessible). For aircraft many websites list the locations of surviving examples, but so far I've yet to find the same for ejection seats. Also, not many museum websites list the ejection seats they have on display. Does anyone know of such a list or lists for the UK please? In the meantime I started a small one below. Please add what you know. Can anyone recommend any references (e.g. books, magazine articles etc.) which contain 3-view diagrams for MB seats? Does anyone hold any general arrangement drawings/blueprints for MB seats? Many thanks Andy Tangmere Military Aviation Museum: 3, 7 TMAM Solent Sky museum: 1 (pre-production), 9 Explosion!: Believed to one 4DSA Mk 3 (can anyone confirm?) 8. I haven't read everything in the whole of the first link... but I get the idea of how much time was spent trying to correct the upper-forward fuselage, including with reference to drawings made from photographs by a friend. When it gets to this level I can't help thinking that scanning an actual aircraft (either using SfM and/or structured light and/or time of flight sensors connected to a laptop... or even an industrial laser scanner if you can hire one) and then 3D printing a new "plug" to fit the fuselage from the kit(s) would be the way to go. Of course, not everyone has access to the original aircraft, but then if a friend (or contact on forums such as this... e.g. I can readily visit the Hellcat at the Fleet Air Arm Museum) does and is will to take photos one could at least have a go with SfM freeware which is out there. Of course one might not have a 3D printer either, but then again one can order 3D prints online and have them delivered. I only mention this because I believe the cost/benefit is starting to tip in favour of such tech (at least at this level of obsessive detail) and is becoming more feasible as well... plus it removes the subjectivity of drawing from photos etc. with their inherent distortions. Discuss....! ;)
  9. Does anyone know where I can currently get hold of Mick Bell's (RIP) drawings, such as the one shown in this thread?
  10. Brilliant model!! Where can I get hold of those drawings, and others like it???
  11. I'm looking for the same, if anyone has drawings to hand? In fact drawings for any Cold War airfield crash tenders for that matter! Many thanks Andy
