  1. A fantastic effort! BZ as we say, and she's one of my old girls, but in the post-TOW era. You should be chuffed!
  2. Afternoon, The seat backs come in green OR orange with harnesses being black with blue and silver(bare metal) buckles and fixings. The Sheepskin pad is a cushion that can contain some Survival Equipment and is placed upon the personal liferaft pack, which is a fibreglass, 2 piece canister, that can come in yellow or dark green! See simples? Cheers now, Billy
  3. Hey Jens, Where'd you get this phot? That's my Det, we took over the Danish hangar when your chaps went home, were you there then? Cheers now.
  4. 'Ow do, I have only ever fitted the FLIR to the Port (left) carrier with upto 2 Skuas on the Stbd (right) carrier(s). We were one of the last HAS3's to operate in the NAG I believe and possibly one of the last to use the FLIR in anger. Indeed at that time it was 'ops normal' to fit the FLIR to Port and M3M to Stbd with Skuas available. Though the role change to the missiles precluded a quick turn around. On a previous trip we did fit the Jammer to Port, but I don't recall if we ever fitted Skuas as well? It was not normal to fit this Jammer at that time and it only went on to complete training requirements so was never a 'patrol fit'. I'll check through some old phots and see, but I don't think we had IR Jammers on the 3's. Again harping back to the mid-90's and early 00's we made do with the chaff & flare launchers being fitted aroung the transportation joint, ( the bit where the tail cone joins the fuselage). Hope this helps, and if I can be of anymore help to anyone, plesae ask. Cheers now.
  5. Actually, it's a small save, but the Mk3 is fitted with CMRB (BERP) blades. Tin blades were removed in the early-mid-90's. Internally the pilots, obs and interseat instruments are different and there's a rack in the STBD aft corrner of the cabin of the early Mk8 versions. But apart from that at the scales mentioned you're right there are some quite noticeabvle differences. Personnally it's was the Mk3 I was waiting for, I hope it will still be an option?
  6. Hello folks, As is typical, after weeks of searching and finally placing my question upon this esteemed site I found the Flight Global article you refer to! It is indeed a similar set up to the Swordfish, and by that I mean it would appear to be a stool assembly, the folded legs of which I believe you can just make out in the Scale Models article. In the end the FG piece made one mention of the set up about halfway through and it consisted of just 3 lines. Anyway, many thanks to my repliers; to coin one of the many phrases my employer has used: The Team Works. Cheers again, Billy
  7. Evening all, Old thread I know, but does anyone know if the Seafox had a seat fitted for the Obs? I have the Scale Models Sept '75 edition and although it does show interior plans/phots, none of them show a seat in the back, and a web search hasn't helped either. This does seem unlikely by todays standards, but that was then. Cheers m'dears, Billy
  8. Actually Paul that just adds to the mystery; i painted those surfaces before christmas! But, Check twice act once is an old rule i shall be sticking too like glue from now on. I'm getting a few good vibes about using the clear cote pots though so may try them. JM, so do I take you'd recommend I swap to acrylic for brush painting?
  9. First of all thanks very much for taking the time to reply, I don't deserve it, I am a dullard! Paul AH you are absolutely correct I have somehow bought the varnish for acrylic not enamel as required. Sometimes you can spend ages trying to work something out and it's staring you in the face all the time. My only defence is that the other 2 tins I bought at the same time, (matt and satin) are correct. Anyway lesson learnt on that front. Of course though it does lead to the inevitable question; is there a fix, especially a quick one? I fear not and the use of fine grade paper will be required. In all honesty this was a revision/re-learning attempt at modelling, so I could just finish it as is, and use the remainder to practice the various techniques now available? Interestingly though the damage only effected the matt finish, not the Extra DSG which is a Humbrol satin. Would anyone recommend the Humbrol clear cote which I've just seen mentioned as an alternative, I will be brush coating though? Thanks again, Billy
  10. Hello all, I'm a recently returned modeller and on my first build. Just got to the stage of glossing the kit prior to decalling and 'pants!' (or words to that effect), some areas of the paint work appear to have crinkled/puckered. As i say not all areas are effected; one wings underside is fine, the other not; most of the fuselage has no issues but the tailplane looks a bit poor. Basically there does seem to be any pattern to it. Not sure though whether it's the paint or the new varnish- has anyone come across this before and if so is there a fix? I've been using brushed on Humbrol enamels and gloss varnish35 in a rattle can. I also had to do it in the garage, but immediately brought the model back indoors- could the temp change have effected it? Yours Aye, Billy
  11. Hello Doug You might want to try the following link for more interior colouring info? http://www.scale-rotors.com/forum/topic/ho...ynx-has-3colour. Computer skills aren't great so you may have to copy and paste? Did you ask about the quarterlights on scale rotors as well? Cheers now, Billy
