  1. I wasn't sure about the centre pylon, thanks for clearing that up and identifying the other stores.
  2. I believe paveways can be fitted to the two outboard pylons and the centre line. The outrigger pylons are for sidewinders only. These pictures shows some other stores, although I'm not completly sure what they are. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6...Harrier_GR9.JPG http://www.raf.mod.uk/rafcms/mediafiles/25...6BB31790018.gif http://www.flightglobal.com/assets/getasse...px?ItemID=24515
  3. If you're going to fit the 330gal tanks and model the flaps down, they were inhibited to 15 degrees.
  4. Just thought I'd post some piccies of my collection. They're not up to current standards as I did make them some time ago and have, (hopefully) improved quite a bit since I built them. I'm actually amazed they've survived this long without being assigned to the scrap bin. They are currently displayed in my office at work.
  5. I've only checked the parts, as I've got too many to build before I get to Daring. But she looks great and is actually a blooming large model. Everything is up to WEM's usual high standard, not cheap though.
  6. 190gal tanks were standard fitment on FRS1's, particularly on front line squadrons, (certainly in the late mid 80's early 90's). 899sqn used to use the 100gal's but again 190's were commonly fitted, for longer training sorties. You should see a Shar fitted with 330gal tanks, looked like it had three fuselages.
  7. Yes the pic of me on the flightdeck is on the Lusty, somewhere north of the Orkneys, hence cold weather clothing. Adrian, the intake auxillary doors should be modelled as in pic 3 or 4. They were hinged freely, (no springs or anything), and were never really flush. As for the tiedowns, I'll have a look through the collection to see.
  8. Nick, can't remember the serial of 715, but will have a look through my other photos to see if I have a side view of her. Edited to say I found it, XZ457.
  9. Having not looked at the Shar kits I have in store, do Airfix provide for the ALE40 panel or is there an aftermarket one I could get?
  10. Thanks Bill. The roundel was probalbly touched up whilst we were on board ship, not the best place to spray paint. Also note the lack of placards on the tanks, we rarely saw them on the tanks we used, even the refurbished ones. Also noted in your model that you have the twin sidewinder rails fitted, we only ever put them on for display/photographic purposes, never operationally, (well certainly not when I was in the mob).
  11. Here's a couple more pics. Is there a place I should be putting these, rather than in particular topics? I'm glad I don't look like this now.
  12. Yes Nick it is. I only spotted it when I viewed the photo after scanning. Farnborough airshow 1988. We were on the far side of the airfield, (where TAG business jet centre is now). Wonder what happend to it?
  13. Nice Shar Bill. I've got several Airfix FRS1's and 2's in stock along with the Heritage T-4 conversion set. When I'm done making warships I may have to get back to building them. For interest value I've got quite a few photos of FRS1's from when I used to work on them. Here's an almost frontal view.

    lynx mk8

There's some sort of seating in there.
  15. The RCV warning signs were not always split. When I worked on them we only used one.
  16. I used to love Monogram back then and it was only when they and Revell amalgamated that Revell kits started to improve. I hadn't realised that they had improved so much in the intervening years. I will have to give some space and time to one or two to see what's what.
  17. Nice. Like the weathering. As you have already said a bit more depth to the sea colouring. Personally I prefer using scenic water for small craft.
  18. Strange, I've got one in my collection and it's still up for sale on their site.

    1/72 Gato

Thanks. Will head over to Hannants. Will probably wait till CMK release some resin, like the stuff they did for the U boat, before starting the build.

    1/72 Gato

Have just bought the Revell 1/72 Gato sub, thanks to Modelzones sale, (knew I shouldn't have looked on their website). Has anyone built this kit yet? If so what's it like and did you use any aftermarket products? Cheers
  21. I've got the Trumpeter kit laid down for a later build. To get the best out of the kit I've also bought the full WEM brass sets including the mod one which allows you to build any Nimitz class. On top of that I've also bought several trumpeter aircraft sets plus WEM air wing brass, WEM anchors, and GMM decals for the ship and air wing. Just have to buy a house big enough to allow me to build it.
  22. I guess I am a bit out of touch as I've firmly resisted buying Revell kits as I was scarred by trying to build them back in the 70's and 80's. But then I'm keen to build some of the wonderful new subjects that are being released in 1/350th scale. This site has already proved to be very educational.
  23. I know this is Invincible, but the deck tractors are the same, they're dark green BTW.
  24. Looks great and quite an interesting subject, but what a price Have Revell really raised their game that much that they are competeing with the likes of Hasegawa, Fujima, Aoshima and Tamyia?
