  1. Haha...you are not stealing. We just get inspired by each other works. I too steal, i mean drew my inspiration from other models floating around the internet. I will not dare to open up the NACA scoops. I will for sure make a mess out them. I'm already so stressed out by this brick that I feel like bashing my head with a brick...haha I did not use any plastic channels in the nose gear. Those on the side of the wheel well are from gluing three pieces of thin styrene sheets. I did use some Evergreen C channels in the main gear bay. They are around 2mm wide. Had call it a day from adding anything more to the fuselage. Primed the fuselage today to check for rough spots. And to my horror, there's really a lot of rough spots and seams to clean up.
  2. Taking baby steps with this buccaneer. Finally finish with main landing gear bay with the help of some of the guys in another thread. Add 2 vents on the underside and drill out some holes. Finally able to attach the intake to the fuselage. The intake however is higher than the fuselage by almost 1mm...will need some putty work to flush it to the rest of the fuselage The intake is assemble from eduard's photo etch and a scratch build cone in the center of the blades. That's the progress for now...thanks for looking
  3. No worries about that, markmarples. I really appreciate feedbacks and comments from all you guys. And all the wonderful walkaround pictures in the forum. Most of the details in my buccaneer (especially in the landing gear bay and wing fold) are frictional. I try to get the main features in place and glue some bit and pieces around the empty spaces to give it a "busy" look.
  4. Yup Made a rough shape to represent the pipe. Had not insert into the landing gear bay yet as it's in a different colour.
  5. You should finish them. It's not everyday you can see a 1/32 buccaneer ~at least until trumpeter release theirs. Looking forward to your 1/48 too.
  6. Thanks again to all who reply to my question . Else I would have make the mistake of painting them white. I have paint my landing gear bays in a light shade of grey. It's not an accurate shade of grey. I just take some grey from my stash of paints. One the left is the finished bay after some heavy weathering. The one on the right is before weathering.
  7. Many thanks to malcolmthefrogkisser and buccy mad. I will look for the lightest grey in my stash of paints to spray the landing gear bays. buccy mad, those are very useful pictures..too bad my buccaneer is too build up to do any changes or adding more details. Do you have more pictures showing details on the inside of the canopy? Saw pictures of a 1/48 and a scratch built buccaneer. Are they finish?
  8. Hi all, I have a question regarding the color of buccaneer's landing gear bay during Desert storm. After plowing through pictures on internet including excellent walk around pictures posted by Markmarples and TonyT, I become confuse on the color. Colors on different pictures range from whitish looking to light grey. Airfix instruction calls for US ghost grey. Anyone happen to seen and know what is the color of the landing gear bay and the inside of the landing gear door? I'm making one of the aircraft used during the first Gulf war. Thanks.
  9. Agree with Mike V. Hasegawa F2 series is among the best in their 48th range. The kit is nothing like Hasegawa F-16 series, the quality of the kit is not very far behind Tamiya F-16 series. It come with intake trunking (not seamless) and a pair of 600 gallon drop tank, a pair of centerline drop tank and 4 Japanese AAM. Unlike other Hasegawa 1/48 planes which don't come any weapons.
  10. That's an amazing piece of work. Beautiful finishing. You even create the rivets. How long you took to finish this beauty?
  11. Work done on the nose landing gear bay and 1 side of the left wing-fold. I don't really have the skill to do a scale replica of the real thing, the most I can do is squeeze in bits n pieces so that they sort of look "busy". The wing-fold is a combine of eduard photoetch, hinges made from epoxy putty and some styrene. Will be adding more details to it. Correct the cross sectional shape of the wing at the leading edge with epoxy putty. The photoetch wingfold frame from eduard provide a good guide to reshape the leading edge. Also done some improvement to the air intake. Progress is slow....doubt I will complete it by June.
  12. Hi Irishgreek, I "cut" my slot starting with a light cut with a craft knife and follow up with some heavy scribing with plastic scriber until I reach the depth i desired. However both end of my slot are rounded:(. Need to do something to square them off. ~~~~~ A small update, not much productive work done on the model due to some problem with my work. Re-scribe and correct some of the mistake done earlier. Add some small details with styrene sheet. Attempt to make a recess around the edge of the nose landing gear bay. Not as easy as I though...spend a lot of time doing it. So much that I might decide not to repeat the same thing on the main landing gear bay. Separate the engine fan blades details from the intake trunking to ease painting in the future. Also shorten the intake trunking as I feel that the kit intake is too deep comparing to pictures of the real aircraft. I'm not sure if my observation is correct, but the cut already been made on both intake. so there's nothing I do if it turn out to be a wrong move...haha That's all for now...thanks all for the kind comments and tips on building the buccaneer.
  13. Amazing Details! Drooling all over my keyboard looking at your work in progress.
  14. Amazing scratch building skill. Anymore update?
  15. Oh my #$@!!! Look like I need to look at more pictures before I continue with the wing. Thanks man for warning me on that. It's not totally Eduard fault, Eduard supply both cut outs with the same size. I added styrene sheet on the forward cut out to make it narrower. So it's fault on my part...haha. Guess I should go back to the drawing board.
  16. Hi all, this is the current progress of the Airfix 1/48 Buccaneer. It's a very long and slow project and I sort of shelfed for few months. Hope to finish it before this coming June. I had painted and fit the Neomega cockpit into the fuselage. The coloring of the cockpit is quite dark and dull as I done the painting and assembly of fuselage during my working trips in Vietnam. Had only brought some basic tools and few color with me during that time. Done some re-scribing of panel lines and added some photo etched parts from Eduard. Also brought Paragon wheels and flaps for this kit. I sure need lot's of help on this project, I'm losing hair over this kit.
