  1. Hi Never had problems with Alclad before, I'd been painting earlier and i was just being cautious. The other side has now been decalled, just need to finish painting the wheels. Andrew
  2. Thanks for the positive comments. Got some decals on one side last night, I used an ATP sheet for the windows, unfortunately the spacing is too large so I had to lose a window, oh well who will know? I used the kit decals for the de-icing boots on the wings, they took a bit of persuasion but I got there in the end.
  3. Finally getting some more work done, fuselage has had a couple of coats of kleer ready for decals.
  4. Hi I pickedmine up last week, decals are very nice by Nazca.
  5. Hi No progress today, the weather is working against me! I've used enamels for this build and they seem to be taking longer to dry, I applied a second coat tonight and added a couple of drops of "Rustins driers", hopefully this should get things back on track. Andrew
  6. I think I was being too critical with the imperfections with the filling/sanding so I cracked on with airbrushing the yellow, one more session should do it, sorry about the quality of the picture
  7. Hi Alclad went on last night, unfortunately it shows up the flaws in my sanding and filling
  8. No hanging about with this one, a bit more sanding and priming today. About to spray the wings gloss black ready for some alclad. Andrew
  9. Hi Yes, I've decided on Hughes Airwest, hoping to have it done by the end of the weekend.
  10. After one evenings work and some sanding it's ready for some primer.
  11. Hi Having failed miserably with the last airliner build I thought I'd go for something simple to start with - Livery still to be decided, something simple though.
  12. Hi I just wish they would release a 757. Andrew
  13. Hi A few pics of my latest arrival
  14. Hi Good news, I've had a response from Welsh Models - looks like there might be enough interested to take things further with the Vanguard project . I'II keep everyone posted on our website with the development. Andrew
  15. Hi Being very jealous of the recent 1/72 Vanguard build on BM and not having the skills to give the Gene Hooker kit a go I thought I'd ask Welsh Models if they had any plans for a future 1/72 release and got the following reply - Many thanks for your enquiry. I have been pondering producing a 1/72 scale Vickers Vanguard and is not out of the question. Its a subject close to my heart and have had the pleasure many years ago to fly in one. It would take approx. two to three months to complete a set of patterns and a further two months to get to the stage of releasing. So we would be looking at release date of early to mid 2016. Before I commit I would need a minimum order of 15 to break even, if I felt this could be achieved - I would give a serious look at the possibility. off my head the ball price would around the £120-00 - £130-00 - I would include a vacform fuselage and the remainder in pressure moulded high quality resin. So, is anyone else interested? Andrew
  16. On one of my visits to Hannants many years ago I raised the drying time issue I'd had with their BM dark blue/dark grey, one of the members of staff suggested a drop of "Rustins driers" when mixing paint for airbrushing. Andrew
  17. Hi Not built my Trumpeter IL-76 kit yet but I did get some Braz engine inlets to replace the ones in the kit which were a bit thick. After seeing the Il-62 I really want to see Zvezda produce a 757, I'm sure I'm not alone in that thought. Andrew
  18. Hi This is probably the simplest -300 conversion, use the RV -400 and some Braz P+Ws, no need to change the wing root fairing - http://www.airliners.net/photo/Korean-Air/Boeing-747-3B5/1364037/L/&sid=a81c9d118c241ac70449029e5367f1d7 http://www.airliners.net/photo/Korean-Air-Cargo/Boeing-747-3B5M(SF)/0962945/L/&sid=a81c9d118c241ac70449029e5367f1d7 Andrew
  19. Keith Depending how far you want to go Brassmasters do a nice detailing etch, got one for my Lima Western that was bought for me back in 1981 I think. http://www.brassmasters.co.uk/Western.htm It's on the long list of things to do although I am tempted by the Dapol one. East of England model show next week so I may have to give in to temptation. Andrew
  20. Hi Keith The Heljan motor decided to fail after I'd ditched the Heljan circuit board and hard wired the chip and lighting kit which made things more difficult. Changing the motor wasn't too bad, I had a Mashima 1830 lying around and re-used the Heljan flywheels and drive shafts. The motor was slightly raised in chassis with a bit of plasticard and the side rubber mounts were re-used. The hardest part was removing the flywheels from the old motor. I've got a few Heljan duffs so I'll eventually get round to doing the rest. Andrew
  21. Hi Looking to add a 1/144 DC-7 to the stash, which one should I buy, Welsh, Roden or F-RSIN? Appreciate views/comments. Thanks Andrew
  22. Hi Just finished a Heljan class 47, had a few ups and downs with this one but I finally made it! Full re-paint, ESU/Legomanbiffo sound chip and Express models lighting kit fitted, Heljan motor seized so it has been replaced by a Mashima one. Shawplan window frames and laserglaze used.
