It would be totally insane and contrary to German practice to have the stepped nose versions omitting D and continuing with E, F and G, just to save space for much younger version to have earlier letter allocated. If anyhow this would be true, then "the renowned German authority" doesn't provide the explanation on what mark did the configuration so far considered as D actually carry. My opinion is that this is just a marketing trick done by Polish company by strange coincidence backed up by Polish member. No hard feelings please

  4. This really is Fokker D.XXI, not Koolhoven FK.58. Look at the different spine shape and characteristic Fokker canopy. Other than propaganda, it might be a Dutch example withdrawn to France where it got such markings (just an assumption).
  5. Hi guys, does anyone know if Vildebeests Mk.I and Mk.II versions were still in service anywhere in the world after 1st September 1939? Also, what needs to be done on Special Hobby Mk.III kit in order to backdate it to Mk.I and Mk.II respectively? Thanks! Marko
  6. Photo in Revell news shows BV 222 as C version which would be excellent news if it's true. I just hope they didn't mess it up with photo.

To give you broader picture, this would summarize in which configurations Hurricane Mk.I has been used in Yugoslavia: 1.) 1st batch - 12 machines, Hawker production, Mk,I early but with ventral strake and later style exhausts. All machines later refitted with 3-bladed units, mostly de Havilland. 2.) Zmaj LVT-1 - alleged conversion of the first plane from this batch in Zmaj factory with DB601 engine taken from spare stocks for Bf 109E fighters. Initially it has been claimed that this machine got DB601 in the time when other machines got their props replaced, but recent photo shows this aircraft in standard Hurricane shape but with 3-bladed unit. While common stories say it was used as LVT-1 against Germans, one source claims the conversion hasn't been successfull and that it reverted back to standard Hurricane form. It remains a mistery as there are no photos of it with DB601 engine 3.) 2nd batch - 12 machines, Hawker production, Mk.I mid with metal wings, new windscreen but again with de Havilland props 4.) 3rd batch - 24 machines, Zmaj licenced production, as 1st batch but with de Havilland props from the beginning, no other known differences Plans were to produce 100 machine under the licence, divided between Zmaj and Rogožarski factories. Eventually, only Zmaj produced their part (not entirely), Rogožarski delivered none. These are the photos of Hurricanes with Rogožarski U21 prop and spinner (source Hawker Yugoslav story book):
  8. It depends on the particular machine you want to build. The most common Hurricanes were identical to the British ones with de Havilland prop and spinner. However some examples had domestic Rogožarski U21 prop with wider blades and longer spinner, but it is unclear if these props were fitted only to some original Hawker built machines from the first batch as replacement for Watts units only or on some other planes too.

  12. One thing that puzzles me is the angle of fin fillet. On Hasegawa P-51D it is molded slightly offset as it should be, to compensate engine torque, but on Arma's P-51B/C it is completely inline with fuselage axis. From the photos I found I couldn't confirm which is correct, but wouldn't be surprised if Arma missed it. Since I don't have any 1/48th scale kits, can someone confirm how it is represented on Eduard's 1/48ts scale P-51D?

  23. I don't understand this hype. Too many companies making fools of their customers like this. Simply ignore them instead of being hooked up and filling endless threads with no added value whatsoever. Better use your time elsewhere. Eduard, Arma, Airfix... the more they do it the worse is my opinion about them.
