  1. Guys, I'm currently working on a Kitec 1 48th F111 build and yes its been a challenge. I'm about to decide on the ordnance loadout but the kit instructions dont call out any colours for the iron bomb carriers. I'm depicting an Upper Heyford bird "The Chief" which is in USAF South East Asian Camo, and have bought a great aftermarket decal set but that too fails to detail the colour of the bomb carriers. Can anyone help please? The underside of the jet plus the pylons are called black by the kit instructions if that gives a clue... TIA gents Pete
  2. Decided it looks too much like a toy...going to do some more weathering...this is where it all goes pete tong!!
  3. Thanks for the kind comments chaps, much appreciated. The dive brakes come with the kit but were warped on the sprues so took a bit of fettling. I actually opened up the vent holes with a micro drill, it was a bit tedious but worth it. The canopies don't fit and needed warming up and manipulating before they'd settle on in the right place. Enjoyable build though. I learned quite a bit too.
  4. With apologies to the organisers of the Pacific group build at long last I've finished this offering of the Dauntless flown by Major Elmer Glidden with Master Sgt James Boile as his oppo in 1944. This has many "firsts" for me: First go with an airbrush, first go at masking canopies, first go at a radio comms wire, first go with modelmaster paints, the list goes on. I've enjoyed the build and discovered that I do like to take my time The airbrakes were a real pain as was their actuating mechanisms. I made loads of cock ups including dumping loads of overspray on the canopies and then struggling to remove it. Well here goes, advice is much welcomed, positive and negative of course! Best regards all Pete
  5. looking good buddy, did you get many pics from the RM at the yard?
  6. Looking great buddy...will watch this with real interest...sidewinders on a bus eh...? they'd go well on my Scania round Cranham lmao!!!
  7. Coming along nicely. Update includes, finishing the 'pit, including gunner/navigators position. Joining the fuse, and attaching the wings. The fit between lower wing and fuselage is poor. Nothing a spot of filler and some filing/polishing couldn't remedy. Overall fit though is excellent.
  8. Hello guys, I've made a start on this project and I must appologise for the lengthy delay...life I'm afraid and a loss of mojo. Well, here we go, the interior green isn't as "green" as the pics show btw Enjoying it so far. More pics as I make progress.
  9. Thats a nice Mk9 Gary. Nice detailing in the 'pit.
  10. Thanks Don. You got my vote BTW. A fine job!
  11. Well done to those stalwarts that finished. Sorry I fell short. I have voted...
