  1. Sorry to hear about you vac-form woes Colin. It looks like you've got quite a challenge there!
  2. Hi everyone. I'm in the middle of paint cycles on my Frog-Eye, so I thought I'd make a start on this 748 in between coats. I've started with the major components (of course). The tailplanes are 'handed', and the hand-written 'S' was helpfully put on by the manufacturer. The instructions also say that the engine nacelles are handed, but there are no markings and I really couldn't see any differences. Here's where I've got to now. The parts were easy to clean up (although working with metal is always messy), and went together easily, with just a smear of filler required for the engine joints. I've left the wings loose for the moment, as I want to put some primer on the engine joints to double-check that everything is smooth. Any final fettling will be much easier to do with the wings separate. Cheers
  3. How do you cope the the knobbly details Dave? I struggle getting into the corners and usually end up taking the paint off the high points! Cheers
  4. There's no mistaking it's a Starfighter now!
  5. Yes Craig, those masks have worked beautifully. I'm very impressed!
  6. It's nice to see this one under way Stu👍
  7. I agree with you on the colour too John. This car deserves something classy
  8. It's going to look great in your 109 collection
  9. I so clearly remember this kit being first released. It garnered much praise at time . I can't believe that was almost 20 years ago!
  10. Yes, I can imagine that was very satisfying . It's looking great so far.
  11. Hi all. It's been a while, but the Sprite is now at the top of my WIP pile All parts have been prepped and primed. And I've started to put some colour on to the bodyshell. It's had a couple of coats of well thinned Humbrol 47 enamel, but will probably need two or three more. Cheers
  12. You did well to find a picture of mine David. I'd forgotten that I'd posted one on BritModeller! I think I probably used Alclad 'White Aluminium', overcoated with satin varnish, so your proposal sounds good to me. Cheers
  13. A very interesting choice. Are you going for the colourful scheme?
  14. Great choices Paul 👍 I'm sorry, but every time I see the title of your thread it takes me back to when I left school (half a century ago). My best mate had moved away to start work in 'Feltham' and we found the name hilarious (it was the time of Benny Hill etc.), particularly as it was next door to 'Staines'. The fact that you're building a 'pair' is just perfect too! Cheers
  15. I've never done it, but would agree that PVA would be worth a try - it certainly works well on porous paper.
  16. This is fantastic Jeroen and, as you say, 'something different'
  17. A nice choice David. I've built this kit from its Classic Plane boxing and it turned out OK (albeit a little 'clumsy', as you say). I'm sure that your Franco-Polish markings will add some extra pizzaz though
  18. It's nice to see this one under way Peter (and I'm glad to hear that you found the decal sheet ). Cheers
