  1. I doubt, La-5FN is very difficult to find even in Czech Republic/EU. AZ outsourced molds for these kits and seems to have a problem with supplier.
  2. It would be really nice if you show/quote hard references proving where CP got things wrong. Maybe you have original WWII La-5 in your backyard?
  3. <wanted ad removed - wrong area, and you don't have 100 posts yet> Mario
  4. Alan, What so wrong with the model, colors, markings, both? The modeler is a friend of mine and at this point rather unhappy with the critique since he trusted DK decals. Btw credit on that sheet is given to Ed Russel who as I understand is from your side of the globe and knowledgeable? Speaking about DK decals as much as I like them I'm too concerned with their "research", I found inaccuracies in other sheets. Some time ago we discussed (here) yellow trims on the wing RNZAF roundels. Cheers, Mario in New York
  5. Evidence-from aviation of Japan blog. Yes, RLM02 did influence IJN J3 olive gray.
  6. All Zeros at PH were manufactured by Mitsubishi and painted at factory with IJN standard J3 Olive Gray (hairyokushoku) after the application of red oxide primer. J3 was of high quality (based on German paint for light metal alloys) and glossy.Kates and Vals factory finish was natural metal surface, silver doped fabric covered surfaces, black cowlings, anti-glare panels and red hinomarus. They were painted in J3 at Japan home bases while training for PH attack, no primer. Green camo was added on board of the air carriers enroute to PH. There is insufficient evidence that brown camo paint was used on top surfaces in addition to green. Cheers, Mario in NYC
  7. Aviation Repair Works in Trencin, western Slovakia, was overhauling L-29 for Egypt and this was a required camo. When it came to overhauling their own Slovak AF Delfíns left over paints were used and aircraft nicknamed "Egyptian girl". Cheers, Mario (born in Trencin)
  8. OK, great, thanks. Best regards, M
  9. Thanks again Alan, extremely helpful indeed. Any red color on the Duck, as per DK decals? Montex doesn't show it. Cheers, Mario
  10. FM used this manual to create their 1/48 C5M kit.
  11. Hi Alan, Thank you very much for your prompt answer. So you say no mission markings whatsoever? Nothing, zero? What else is wrong? Was the cowling "77" in yellow? Sorry for more questions, thanks again in advance. Cheers, Mario in NYC
  12. Hi Alan, Would NZ Corsairs at any point in time have yellow outlines on the wing roundels? Something like depicted on this decal sheet? http://dkdecals.cz/PFII_navod1.jpg Thanks in advance, very much appreciate your sharing the knowledge. Cheers, Mario in NYC
  13. Hasegawa new generation Zeros are respectable models however suffer from very shallow wheel wells and spartan cockpit. Both FM and Tamiya are far better FM suffering from slightly undersized cowling on A6M3 and A6M5 and don't build without effort. There is no contender to current Tamiya Zeros.
  14. Why in the world was the MAIN version "D" bypassed again? What is it so difficult to accept that Yak-9D was the most widely used WWII fighter?
  15. Massimo, Did it occur to your that "AMT-1/a-21m camo brown" as seen in these pictures may be actually ALG-5 primer? I'm quite surprised that you would consider FS30215 tan "nearly close to red brown" and "not very far" from brown applied on restored Il-2 in Kbely. Have you seen Kbely's Il-2? Another surprise is that after years you would call "Albom Nakrasok" just "Nakrasok". I don't think it's helpful to newcomers into the field of VVS coloration. Cheers, Mario in NYC
