  1. Having seen the kit at Telford, I'm speechless, both at the quality of a standard Airfix 1/24 kit, and the quality of the OOB build. - time for me to throw in the towel and take up tiddly-winks? Roll on a 1/24 Corsair or a 262? A 1/24 BAE Hawk would be nice as well. Mike
  2. The deck looks good, but the shift of butts (http://forum.model-space.co.uk/default.aspx?g=posts&t=808) should be every four or five planks, not alternating planks. Happy modelling, Mike
  3. The most outstanding piece of modelling I've seen in a month of Sundays! Mike
  4. I think you would have had much less trouble with weighting the base if you had used Milliput or similar modelling putty with 'fluid lead' (https://www.eileensemporium.com/index.php). Resin is exothermic as it sets, hence your problems with bulging plastic as the resin sets. This is a wonderful thread. My wife is fascinated by the culinary input! Happy modelling, Mike
  5. I routinely motorise my 1/32 and 1/24 aircraft, usually with a Scalextric motor. Happy modelling, Mike
  6. Very nicely done. I have often wondered why the B-17 had such a following when the Liberator was built in greater numbers and was a better aircraft (as of course was the Lancaster). Good luck with your next two B-17s Mike
  7. Looking very good. The pilot's face needs a little finishing yet. Happy modelling, Mike
  8. Very nicely done. It's a mystery to me why the Tempest has never been done in 1/32 by a main stream manufacturer. Mike
  9. A first class attempt - I couldn't do anything half as well when I was ten. He is obviously going to be a master modeller in time - he's already well on the way. Happy modelling, Mike
  10. I thought there were meant to be transfers for a FAA one? Good progress so far. Mike
  11. I always motorise my 1/32 and 1/24 prop driven models. I normally us a Scalextric motor, the 1/24 Airfix stand, and a AA battery box (http://www.tandyonline.co.uk/2xaa-battery-holder.html) and slide switch (http://www.rapidonline.com/Electronic-Components/Miniature-slide-switch-30266). I shall enjoy watching this build. Mike
  12. A lovely rendition of a truly ugly aircraft!
  13. Your modelling skills are superb and the finished model an inspiration. The SE5A is not the most beautiful aircraft (like the Q1 locomotive), or the Hurricane, but is very purposeful and is attractive in its own right. I'm looking forward to your next foray into scratchbuilding. Happy modelling. Mike
  14. You could see if the mechanism in the Trumpeter Wyvern is any good. Not the cheapest way of doing it though. Mike
  15. 45% fatality rate amongst Bomber Command aircrew. A fitting tribute to a wonderful aircraft and the men who served in them. Mike
  16. Has this company finally gone to the wall? Its web site is no longer valid. If so, it will be a shame, because there are so few first class 1/24 scale aircraft. Mike
  17. Why not do the RAF version with invasion stripes? Mike
  18. Beatifully done so far. My father was a navigator on Lancasters (Nick the Nazi Neutraliser). Just a small point, Americans went on missions, Bomber Command on 'ops' or raids. I'm looking forward to seeing this finished. Happy Xmas to all, Mike
